Abstract

Abstract - The city development is should give positive contribution to social development, on ideal situation. However this situation is not always similar with the expectation as well as theory. Several factors are be as the push factor to the movement, and the movement can be contradictive to negative conditions: (1). The high level land invasion by private sector to community on location. (2). The lack of development as well as training program in location, by the government and others. (3). The condition of high pressure of import handycract from another country including : shoes and other handycraft from leather. The similar things happen in Cibaduyut as housing settlement based on leather industry-activity. An important thing that should be highlighted is this analysis based on the strength and the opportunity of application concept of “system approach to architecture” (Handler : (1970)), which being completed with many supporting theories. Comprehensive analysis of physical condition social as well as regulation, is as the key factor to find the best model as the design solution of redevelopment sustainable settlement as well as sustainable landscape development in research location. Hopefully the model will relevant with the planning of High Speed railway (HSRT) Bandung-Jakarta which will be finished on 2021. Keywords: Housing Layout, Housing Morphology, Transit Oriented Developmen (TOD), System Approach to Architecture, Sustainable Tourism Settlement.

Abstract

As the product of culture and the background of human activities, architecture that constructs place-identity are in a state of constant modification. This paper explores the dynamic development of architecture of a vernacular landscape since the time when external power of colonialization introduced new ideas, techniques and construction methods to the more traditional know how. A case study in Bali is analyzed through historical research involving document and policy analysis, in depth interview with key informants, observation and building surveys. The result shows that prior to colonization era, the island was developed based on local building codes called Hasta Kosala-Kosali that is written on traditional lontar leaf manuscripts. New political system as well as business interests are two main factors influencing the transformation of architectural-identity of the island in the colonial and post-colonial era to date. The physical identity is among the main charms of the Island of Bali. In order to maintain the attractiveness of the island, the public and private sector should work together with the community in establishing policies regarding the physical development of Bali. Keywords: Architectural identity, tradition, post-colonialism, hasta kosala-kosali

Abstract

Global warming has become an important issue today, caused by the increasing demand for energy and humans lifestyle. To reduce the impact, more architects started to respond regarding environmental issues. The concept of green architecture promotes to solving this problem. Natural ventilation is the one of the concept green architecture. This research tends to look at the aspect of Thermal Comfort in naturally ventilated mosque buildings through the Thermal Bridges strategy. Naturally ventilated building tend to have better indoor air quality (IAQ), but worse thermal comfort. Therefore, this research investigates the range of acceptable temperature and calculate by BIM thermal bridge simulation to achieve thermal comfort for naturally ventilated mosque building. The method of analysis conducted is quantitative based on direct measurement of weather data and existing comfort conditions in the field, calculations, and simulations using Building Information Modeling (BIM). Data was collected through a field survey in Itenas Mosque Building and were used to develop and validate then using the BIM thermal bridge model for simulation. The data collected from field survey and in situ environmental measurement such as air temperature, relative humidity, and wind velocity. The thermal comfort prediction model was developed from statistical analysis of the field survey data. Based on the result of thermal Bridge simulation using BIM software required exchange material of the existing building to achieve thermal comfort. Keyword-Thermal comfort, Building Information Modelling, Thermal Bridge Simulation

Abstract

Abstract -Thermal comfort is a state of mind that expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment. There are two main categories in the effort to obtain a comfort index; empirical and analytical. Empirical is based on social surveys, while analysis is based on the physics principle of heat flow.Bandung city is one of the historical cities in Indonesia which has many historical heritage buidings. One of them which is commonly known as colonial buildings in Bandung is Lautze 2 Mosque, located at Tamblong Street in the city center of Bandung. This research was conducted to analyze the thermal comfort in the Lautze 2 Mosque Bandung. The analytical method used in this study is a quantitative research method by measuring the main factors namely air temperature, air humidity and air velocity. The main factors become obstacles to get thermal comfort data at the Lautze 2 Mosque Bandung is the location of buildings located in areas with tropical climate conditions with high air temperatures, high air humidity, and low air velocitys. The research conclude that thermal comfort in the Lautze 2 Mosque Bandung building can be categorized as uncomfortable, it can be seen from the measurement results of related factors, namely the temperature and humidity that exceeds the comfort limit and the low air velocity in the building becomes an obstacle to obtain thermal comfort. Keywords: colonial buildings, mosque, thermal comfort, tropical climate.

Abstract

The need for parking space in the land use system for educational activities is needed in line with the growth of vehicle users. Educational areas with a high center of activity really need adequate parking space for ease of accessibility. The center of sports activities in the area of higher education activities requires the ease of using vehicle parking. The system of sports activities in higher education areas with high movement activities requires evaluation of parking space requirements in accordance with the activity system. Analyzing parking space requirements based on system activities is the main objective of this study. Specifically the purpose of the study is based on the analysis of parking duration. The frequency and accumulation of vehicles in the parking area is a characteristic impact of the activity system of sports activities. The analysis method based on parking space units is analyzed based on parking methods with variables that affect vehicle use in the activity system in the sports activity zone. Variables of parking user characteristics are based on survey responses from vehicle users from their activity system. The results showed the existing conditions with 34 units of parking spaces with parking index 1.1764 with the need for parking space of 460 m2. With a system of high activity and vehicle growth, the parking area needs at the prediction of the next 10 years require an area of 59 parking spaces with a parking index of 0.949 with a parking area of 643.89 m2. Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of inter-building space which is understood as an open area and can be accessed by people who are usually located between buildings. This study is a case study on public spaces in kampung Kasepuhan Ciptarasa and Ciptagelar, Sukabumi-West Java. The space between buildings in this study is interesting because in it public activities and rituals on a community scale can be held which are quite limited. The community itself becomes the agent responsible for care. The purpose and significance of public space research lie in the disclosure of open space phenomena that are local and participatory. The research method used is phenomenology-hermeneutics to find out the meaning of interpretation of the text of a phenomenon of public space that occurs. The results showed that the use of public space for the residents of kampung Kasepuhan Ciptarasa and Ciptagelar due to ritual activities, especially Seren Taun. Beyond that, the function of public space is not visible. This reflects the position of the importance of the presence of public space only to facilitate the activities of the rite of the community. Keyword—phenomenology-hermeneutic, text, public space, ritual, vernacular

Abstract

Pedestrian is part of urban elements that have a significant role in forming a city. In the pedestrian, social interactions will be created which further strengthen relations between elements in the city. Cities in Europe are the best examples of city pedestrian planning. There walking is more comfortable and enjoyable, with the city being created by the streetscape and the humanist city order. Whereas in cities in developing countries like Jakarta, the city planning has not accommodated pedestrians at all.               The design of the city of Jakarta which is not humanist seems to urge pedestrians and force everyone to ride a car. The pedestrian paths provided are always side by side with the road and the volume is insufficient for those who pass it.               It can be concluded that the existing pedestrian conditions are unsafe and very uncomfortable. Examples of such cases can be seen along Jalan Sudirman and M.H. Thamrin which has always been the icon of the Jakarta office area. Where along these linear and continuous paths, pedestrians are forced to walk unprotected and face the pollution produced by vehicles. The lack of good pedestrian planning in this area has resulted in pedestrians preferring to use vehicles. Finally, each person is increasingly individualistic because there is no social interaction and the realization of a city that is not humanist too.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the role of conservation of cultural heritage architecture in the development of tourism in Denpasar and to describe the concept that shapes the downtown Denpasar (zone Z). Following the characteristics of the object of study (research questions), this research uses phenomenology as the paradigm. The qualitative method (phenomenology) is an inclusive and flexible method, which is always developing. This method helps to gain an understanding of meaning, develop theories, and describes complex realities. This research was conducted with the help of human instruments (the researchers), notebooks, voice recorders, and research assistants. Additionally, this research emphasizes qualitative techniques, in which researchers or human factors have an important role. Primary data consist of words and actions, while secondary data include documents, photos, and statistics. Results show that the cultural life of Denpasar citizen has a significant effect on the development of tourism in Denpasar, Bali. It is evident in the structure, functions, and meaning of downtown Denpasar Heritage City, especially in managing the area, planning, and building layout. The downtown Denpasar has a unique pattern called Pempatan Agung. In the context of tourism, the development of Denpasar should focus on creativity and culture. The responsibility of managing the area should be shouldered by the community, cultural experts, universities, NGOs, private companies, and the government. Also, there needs to be a continuous evaluation of the results of management. Keywords: Pempatan Agung, culture, creativity.
