Abstract

Christianity cannot be separated from prayer because God desires a relationship with His people through prayer. The Lord Jesus Himself also taught His disciples to pray in His name. There are still misconceptions about praying in Jesus' name for Christians. This article aims to explain the theological meaning of the expression praying in the name of the Lord Jesus so that its delivery in prayer does not become a ritual sentence devoid of meaning. Through a qualitative research method with a historical-grammatical approach, this study managed to get some theological thoughts that praying in the name of the Lord Jesus is God's call for believers to pray with the authority of the Lord Jesus, according to the character of Jesus, according to the will of God, and to glorify God. In conclusion, praying in the name of Jesus is not a mantra because praying is not about words, but meaning.

Abstract

A cell group is a group of people who live together in a certain area who are connected to each other in an organization that is bigger than them. However, what happens is that cell group only builds a family, so it is just a phenomenon of gatherings between congregations. However, the aim of the cell group point being the spearhead for every member involved in the process of the great commission, namely bringing new souls, has not yet happened. It is necessary to think about how cell groups become an important point for congregational growth as an implementation of the great commission according to Matthew 28:19-20? The method used in writing this article is a descriptive qualitative method. The aim of this research is First, to examine cell groups as the implementation of the great commission according to Matthew 28:19-20. Second, providing important principles for cell groups as the implementation of the great commission which has an impact on church growth. So that the true goal of the cell group is to lead to the great commission, the cell group can become a motor for church growth.

Abstract

The discussion of love is always a hot topic when it is brought up as a topic of discussion. It is interesting to know whether the concept of love has qualities that liberate someone or whether love actually has qualities that bind. This research attempts to show its side to the binding nature of love. The word בְּרִית (berit) is used in this research to show that the covenant made by God with humans is a binding characteristic of God's love. Semantic research methods in various uses of Biblical narratives and interpretations help this research to understand the concept of the use of these words. Gabriel Marcel's philosophical thoughts enrich this research to show human existentialism in responding to the love that God gives to humans and the relationship that humans give to God. Berit provides the love that God gives to humans so that humans have hope and make God the only way out.

Abstract

This research examines the spirituality of feminist solidarity in the Bible as a reflection for the church, especially the Toraja Church regarding the empowerment of women in ministry.. Reflections related to the spirituality of feminist solidarity are the basis for the church to maintain balance between men and women, especially in ministry. This research aims to answer how the spirituality of feminist solidarity in the view of Jesus is related to women's empowerment in the Toraja Church? Therefore, the aim of this research is to describe the relationship between the spirituality of feminist solidarity in the view of Jesus and the empowerment of women in the Toraja Church. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The researcher describes the texts in the Bible, especially the spiritual concepts of feminist solidarity in the view of Jesus. Text analysis with an interpretive approach related to the spirituality of feminist solidarity as a foundation for the Toraja church, especially regarding the involvement of women in church stewardship. Apart from the approach or biblical analysis above, this research also uses the interview method. This interview process will be carried out to obtain information from informants regarding women's empowerment in the Toraja Church. This comparative approach shows that there are similarities regarding the principles or spirituality of feminist solidarity in the view of Jesus, especially in the Bible, with women's empowerment in the Toraja Church. This research shows that First, the involvement of women in ministry as congregational pastors, deacons and elders is proof that the Toraja Church has implemented gender equality. Second, the involvement of women in various fields of service, including in the synodal leadership structure. This attitude shows that a principle or spirituality of equality and a spirituality of feminist solidarity in the view of Jesus has been implemented and is still being developed regarding the empowerment of women in the Toraja Church.

Abstract

This study explores the theology of John of Damascus on the Antichrist within the context of the Eighth-Century Orthodox Church. Addressing a gap in existing scholarship, this research provides a comprehensive analysis of John of Damascus's eschatological views, particularly his depiction of the Antichrist, and examines their theological, historical, and cultural implications. Employing a historical-theological method, the research involves a detailed textual analysis of John of Damascus's works, contextualization within the Byzantine era, comparative analysis with contemporary and preceding theologians, and interpretation through theological frameworks. The study reveals that John of Damascus articulated a clear and systematic portrayal of the Antichrist, integrating it within his broader eschatological framework. His views were shaped by the historical and political milieu of the Eighth Century, notably the rise of Islam and internal theological disputes within Byzantium. John of Damascus emphasized the Antichrist as a significant heretical threat, advocating for vigilance and steadfastness in faith among the Christian faithful. His teachings were deeply woven into Orthodox doctrine, reinforcing the eventual triumph of Christ and the necessity of maintaining orthodox beliefs against heretical challenges. The findings underscore the lasting impact of John of Damascus's theology on the Antichrist in the Orthodox tradition, influencing subsequent theological developments and the Church's understanding of end-time events. This study highlights the importance of his eschatological perspectives, demonstrating how they were both reflective of and responsive to the theological and historical challenges of his time.

Abstract

The existence of Theological Higher Education is to help the church realize its purpose, to equip individuals who are able to advance God's mission of salvation in the world, through gospel-focused teaching, evangelism, and service. But today, there is a shift in the vision of Theological Higher Education, in the form of academic-oriented and management-oriented or in other words, the vision of Theological Higher Education in Indonesia is 'drawn' and centered on fulfilling the demands of the Tri Darma of higher education. This research uses qualitative methods, data obtained from a number of relevant literature, namely scientific articles and books related to the topic of discussion. The results show that the deepening of Jesus' theocracy in the concept of time can be used as the basis for a Christocentric vision, consistently determining and implementing its vision, namely Theological Higher Education centered on God's mission.

Abstract

Generation Z, born in 1997-2013, is considered incapable of being an agent of change and a moral booster, as well as a social controller because of their indifferent attitude and are easily entangled in various new problems that affect their potential, so that the current young generation finds it difficult to be resilient. These conditions and situations have given rise to a new terminology called the strawberry generation, which is a term for a generation that looks strong, but has a fragile heart and quickly gives up hope. Loneliness is one of the impacts that is present in the strawberry generation. This research aims to determine the relationship between Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory and loneliness in the strawberry generation, its implementation in pastoral counseling. This research uses qualitative methods through a library research approach. The results of this research show that based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs theory, loneliness occurs when an individual's sense of security cannot be fulfilled properly and there are several stages that Christian counselors can take to deal with this, namely (1) identifying and making plans regarding the client's physical condition, (2) having empathy and maintaining trust, (3) developing social relationships, such as within family, friends and church, (4) giving positive affirmations and recognizing the counselee's achievements, (5) helping the counselee to explore potential and fulfill God's calling in his life.
