21st century educators employ multirole in conducting the teaching and learning process such as being a leader, facilitator, model, communicator, adaptor, risk taker, and also learner. An effort to involve all those qualities as well as the role of teacher as a learner can be provided in a way that collaboration between teacher and learners exists in selected project based activities. This paper reflects project based activity in learning English for Wetland subject in a special (local) locus where this course in learned. The approach used in investigating the research objective is qualitative. Descriptive research is also chosen to explore and describe the existing phenomena. To get the data, researcher uses triangulation [observation, interview and document analysis]. Moreover, this study uses 35 subjects of research to collect the data. The findings of this study are in the forms of wetland vocabularies [flora and fauna] based on the selected areas investigated, certain English described phenomena in wetland area and info graphical media in which that two previous information is elaborated.

This study try to explore the benefits of Facebook in teaching English in an Indonesia college. The aims of the study are to discuss the kinds of language teaching and learning activities via Facebook, the use of Facebook in facilitating the teaching and learning in English for guidance counselling area. The data draws in descriptive design. The tool of collecting data is interview. The findings indicate that reading, writing and discussion activities can be held via Facebook and all of the participants agreed that Facebook helps them in learning English. The contribution of the study is to enhance a better understanding to use of Facebook as an alternative tool can be used for teaching and learning. The ultimate goal of study is to enhance students ‘interactions outside the classroom. By using Facebook students can get to know sharpen education to its highest level and made it more interesting, therefore creating good learning environments.

Teachers should always attempt to create an interesting and challenging English communication during the classroom of the language teaching which actively involves the students in the teaching and learning process. This article is aimed at describing the teaching technique of speaking using picture series, the use of picture series to support the teaching of speaking skill, the obstacles or unexpected possibilities generally found in the use of picture series, and attempts done to solve/minimize the problems or to anticipate the unexpected possibilities in the teaching of speaking skill. The design belongs to descriptive. Classroom observation and interview were executed to collect the data. The result showed that in teaching speaking skill using picture series, students were divided into group work or in pair, the use of picture series to support the teaching of speaking skill in classroom depended highly on supporting factors and specific criteria, the obstacles or unexpected possibilities generally found in the use of picture series in the teaching of speaking skill cover the number of picture series distributed was sometimes imbalanced, so small, unclear and uninteresting, tended to be only black and white and was not suitable with the real condition or context.

Nowadays in Indonesia, English has been taught at school from the various levels. English is the first foreign language that becomes one of compulsory subject in Final Examination (UN). MacIntyre & Gardner (1993:284). The result of the highest and the lowest percentage of students’ preference in FLCAS questionnaire. The researcher found that 66, 7% respondents give the highest response “Strongly Agree” to statement number 5 (I start to panic when I have to speak without preparation in language class). While 11, 1% respondents give the lowest response “Strongly Agree” to the statement number 7 (I feel confident when. I speak in foreign language class). The result of this research show that most of the students are at “Anxious” level students. There are 21 (78%) students who experience “Anxious” level, 5 (19%) students are in “Mildly Anxious” level, and only 1 (4%) student from 27 students, is in “Relaxed” level.

Learning styles have huge contributions in developing the efficiency in education. The concept of learning styles has been explored by many experts in various background of study. Fleming (2001) defines learning style as an individual’s characteristics and preferred ways of gathering, organizing, and thinking about information. This study aims to identify the students’ learning styles according to the classifications of learning styles and how their learning strategies. VAK questionnaire was utilized in this study to know the students’ preferred learning styles. Interview was also conducted in collecting some additional information regarding the students’ learning. 21 adult EFL learners majoring in English education of postgraduate Program of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan were involved as a research sample. From the interview conducted to three participants as representatives of each learning styles it was discovered that each learning has its own learning strategy which is different from one another. One respondent as a visual learner argued that she felt happy if the lecturer provides visual-demonstration in class such as movies, videos, and PowerPoint presentation. Another respondent as an auditory learner preferred to learn by listening and writing down important information that she have learnt. The other respondent as a kinaesthetic learner would find easy to understand and remember well if she was involved practice.

The research objective of this research is to know whether there is any correlation between students’ habit in watching English movie and vocabulary mastery and the degree of correlation.The research design in this research is correlational study. It means that the researcher does not give any treatment to the students. There is no explanation before. The researcher only gives the test to the students. The researcher used cluster random sampling to get the sample. From the sample technique, the researcher got 39 students at the sixth semester at English education study program as the sample.Based on the research calculation by using correlation product moment, it is obtained that is 0,798, and is 0,320 in significant 5% and 0,413 in significant 1%. The average of students’ habit in watching English movie is 61. The average score of vocabulary mastery is 60,12. It shows that is higher than . It means that Ho is accepted and Ha is rejected The conclusion of this result shows that there is a positive correlation between students’ habit in watching English movie and vocabulary mastery at the sixth semester at English education study program in Muhammadiyah University of Metro Academic Year 2017/2018.

The aims of this research are to give some positive contribution to the future researcher especially who want to analyzed about translation procedure preposition and the research is expected to be a useful for the student especially those who want to analyze about translation procedure and preposition. This study uses qualitative data analysis. Qualitative research can be done through library and field research, this study applies library research. This method s applied by reading and studying some books concerning with the topic of the problem. The data of this study were analyzed by using two steps, first describing the translation procedure of adverbial preposition the researcher give the example of the translation procedure of adverbial preposition. The researcher write the translated version below the original one in form of sentences and put marks by underlying both the translated prepositions and the original ones. Second, finding out and analyzing the untranslated the translation procedure of adverbial preposition. The researcher found in the Harry Potter and The Cursed Child’s book that were a lot of translation procedure and the highest percentage found that word for word translation was the highest percentage with 39, 39% and literal translation was the lowest percentage with 21, 21%

The title of this research was the difficulties in writing business English correspondence at fourth Secretary Semester students in ASMI Citra Nusantara Banjarmasin Academic Year 2018-2019 which was aimed at knowing the difficulties of Writing Business English Correspondence. The population was 15 students or whole of the fourth Secretary Semester students and the researcher conducted the data using descriptive qualitative research that employs descriptive qualitative method. The data of this study were obtained by using questionnaire was divided into two parts; they are background of the respondent and surveyed the difficulty by using Likert-Scale. The scale ranged from: “Strongly Agree, Agree, Neutral, Disagree and Strongly Disagree”. Writing difficulties at Business English Correspondence at fourth semester students varied in the result which related to the Linguistic difficulty, like wide range of vocabulary usage. They have to enlarge the vocabulary meaning, using appropriate or formal vocabulary or sentences in Business English Correspondence. The respondents also gave their suggestion to change their difficulties like, changed their learning English method especially in writing business English correspondence.

Vocabulary is a main component in learning English. In instructional process, the teachers often apply some kinds of method, technique, and media of vocabulary mastery in teaching and learning process which can make the students bored, lazy, inactive and annoyed to remember the main part of English. This research is proposed to know the distinction between student’s vocabulary mastery instructed by using chain word and Pictionary games at eighth grade students of SMP N 1 Pekalongan and to prove which one of the game is more effective than others. The design of this research is Non-Equivalent Control Group Design. The research is conducted at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Pekalongan. The researcher employs stratified cluster random sampling to take the sample. The population is 576 students in 19 classes and the eighth grade is the sample of this research, 8.1 is as the experimental class and 8.4 is the control class. Based on the result of research, there is a significant distinction of the result between pre-test and post-test score in experimental and control class. The scores indicated that Pictionary game is more effective than chain word game toward students’ vocavulary at eighth grade of SMPN 1 Pekalongan.

This research is a pragmatic study which focused on the context. Pragmatics is study about meaning that listener has different meaning from speaker. The object of this research is; first, understanding the role of pragmatic theory in analyzing the La La La song lyrics, the second is determine the religion issue on La La La song lyrics and the last is identifying the moral value of La La La song lyrics. The data of this research are song lyrics entitled La La La by Sam Smith. The data are analyzed based on their meaning. The main source of data in this research is the song lyric of Sam Smith’s song, with the data collecting technique is Documentation. This paper is qualitative research based on Pragmatic Analysis. The researcher analyze the lyric song entitle La La La by Sam Smith mainly from Context which focus on Religion Issues. The results of this research are (1) The role pragmatic theory is to make it easier for researcher to interpret the lyrics and connect each stanza with the meaning of a particular context. Recently, researcher infers the meaning of the lyrics. (2) The religion issues in the La La La song lyrics are the words that have been underlined from the analysis table in Chapter 4, 1 of “Hiss”, 1 of “Preach”, 1 of “New Messiah”, 2 of “silver lining”, 2 of “your speech”, 4 of “my ears”, and 1 of running of the time. (3) The moral value in the La La La song lyrics are do not cover ears on a good advice. The researcher suggests to anyone who interested in doing research with a similar topic to listen to it and pay more attention to the content of the lyric.
