Abstract

Landslide is the transfer of slope-forming material in the form of rocks, debris, soil moving down or out of the slope. Geolologically, landslides are a geological phenomenon with a movement of land such as falling rocks or large lumps of land (Nandi, 2007). The majority of Nganjuk Regency, East Java, is at high risk of landslides. Reporting from Tirto.id news on February 19, 2021, there was a landslide in Ngetos Subdistrict, Nganjuk which claimed many victims. Nineteen people died, 20 were injured and 10 houses were severely damaged. Ngetos village is the largest village with the most populous population in Nganjuk. Unit of Natural Disease Support from Faculty of Medicine, Community Service Team of the Department of Anesthesiology and Reanimation Faculty of Medicine Universitas Airlangga in collaboration with the Center of Environmental Health Engineering and Disease Control (BBTKLPP) Surabaya in efforts to overcome landslide disasters that occurred in Nganjuk. Assistance provided includes medical assistance and environmental development as one of the disaster mitigation efforts. One of the mitigation measures carried out through this activity is reforestation by planting vetiver roots. Vetiver Roots are known as landslide prevention plants because their roots can reach depths soil of down to 5 meters. One of the causes of landslides is the lack of vegetation on the ground so it is prone to movement, especially if it rains heavily because there is no anchoring. Therefore, this activity is considered important to prevent repeated landslides.

In Indonesia, data from the first patience until October 2021, this pandemic has infected more than four million Indonesians citizen, soon after government made policies for people to stay at home if there is no urgent need to leave the house. The main transmission conditions through droplets like this cause health workers, especially the dentistry sector to be at high risk for infected by COVID-19, because dentists must have direct contact with the patients oral cavity who may also have become carriers of COVID-19, this can be done through direct contact with saliva, patient's blood and can also be caused by touch a tool or object which surfaces has been contaminated by this virus. Although it is recommended not to go to dentist for treatment, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) still give recommendations to patient to be treated for emergency cases. So education and literacy are needed to increase public knowledge about what cases included to an emergency cases, how to go or get treatment in dental and oral health needs during the pandemic, so that people can still get treatment if they are in a condition that is really needed.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a dangerous disease that may cause death within a short time and spread quickly. East Java is the province with the second-highest number of dengue cases in Indonesia. Blitar is one of the contributors to the high number of cases in East Java, with a CFR of 1.2% and Ponggok sub-district is one of the dengue-prone areas. Programs that have been promoted by the government are the 3M Plus Movement and the Eradication of Mosquito Nests (PSN). However, dengue disease still occurs every year because the community lacks the awareness to run these programs regularly and continuously. The purpose of community service through the 65th Airlangga University KKN-BBM program in the Health Sector were 1) increasing knowledge and awareness about DHF disease and its prevention, 2) improving skills in monitoring larvae independently, 3) reducing dengue transmission rates and improving the environmental health of the Candirejo Village community.  The method used were the dissemination of knowledge about DHF and its prevention along with jumantik and PSN 3M Plus training. The target of this activity was elementary school students and the surrounding community. The results of the evaluation showed that there were differences in the level of knowledge before and after the socialization of DHF. In addition, the jumantik training was able to encourage students to independently carry out larvae monitoring. The community actively participated and was very enthusiastic in the implementation of PSN. Overall, all the programs carried out are appropriate, easy, and effective ways to prevent DHF.

Abstract

Abstract

The ability to write as a form of proficiency in a variety of literature is a very important form of writing for students in schools in Kemloko Village. It is assumed that as intellectuals, they must have skills and master the language in a variety of literature. As a form of concern and service to the village community assisted by the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, it is necessary to hold these activities to create a young generation who is ready to face the progress of the times in the era of globalization. Thus, the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program held the creative writing activity as an alternative step to prepare the younger generation who are ready to face the future by proficiently writing and reading. The activity was carried out online as well as an anticipation to break the chain of the spread of Covid-19. Furthermore, to support these activities, good cooperation is needed between the Indonesian Language and Literature Study Program, the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Airlangga University with the Blitar Regency PORBUDPAR Service, and the MI School Committee and Kemloko Village Village. This strategy can create positive synergies by forming writing groups so that these activities can be applied in a structured and sustainable manner by producing a collection of interesting and quality poems and short stories even though they are online. Furthermore, the collection of students' writings will be made into a collection of books that have an ISBN and can be distributed to various levels of society.
