Abstract

Nanotechnology sensor is one of technology that could support biomedicine developments, including in the pharmaceutical field. Highly sensitive sensor having ability to detect various pharmaceutical substances as well as components in the food have have been developed, including the so-called nanosensor based screen printed electrode, using nanomaterial boron doped diamond (BDD). This nanosensor could replace conventional sensing technology that is considered still have several drawbacks such as inefficient routes and time consuming, as well as high cost. A nanosensor-based screen printed electrode was developed and implemented for detection of pharmaceutical substances, including drugs. In this opportunity, this community service program disseminated nanosensor technology to pharmacists and food and drug assessors at BBPOM Denpasar, Bali. The program is conducted via short course and practical case on how to use the nanosensor that already developed in the laboratory. The community service program is started with pretest about sensor and nanotechnology, followed by course, practical case, and lastly, the post-test. The post-test results showed a highly positive response, with 71% of participants reporting very high interest, 66% expressing very high satisfaction, and the majority indicating that the activity was relevant, beneficial, and worth recommending. These community service activities are expected to facilitate the broader implementation of nanosensor technology in drug and food assessments. Hopefully, this technology could be spreadly used by the the pharmacies and stake holders who have the right for doing drug and food assessements, not only in Denpasar but also in other cities in Indonesia.

Abstract

Visual impairment in children is a health issue that affects cognitive, social, and educational development, yet early detection at the preschool level is still rarely implemented. The community service program “Anak Hebat: Ayo Cek Mata!” was conducted to address this need in Sidorejo Village, Gresik Regency, where no previous screening of visual acuity had been carried out among children in Playgroup (KB) and Kindergarten (TK) or equivalent levels. The aim of this activity was to detect visual acuity problems early in preschool children so that timely referral and management could be provided. The implementation method consisted of four stages: needs identification through interviews with village officials and schools, activity planning through coordination with stakeholders, visual screening using the Peek Acuity application with standardized measurement procedures, and evaluation of activity. Data were analyzed descriptively and inferentially, including Fisher’s exact test. A total of 56 children participated, but only 39 children (69.6%) were successfully assessed for visual acuity. There was a significant association between age and measurement success (p<0.001). Among children with successfully measured visual acuity, 37 (94.8%) had no visual impairment, 1 child (2.6%) had mild impairment, and 1 child (2.6%) had moderate impairment. No association was found between either age or sex and visual acuity classification (p=0.858 and p=0.231). The limitations of the activity included low cooperativeness among children aged 3–4 years and the absence of alternative methods for children who did not yet understand instructions. Nevertheless, this program provides long-term benefits for the community, including serving as a basis for school vision health policies, supporting village-level health program evaluation, and encouraging the establishment of routine screening initiatives. Early detection at the preschool age is expected to prevent worsening visual impairment and improve children’s quality of life in the future.

Abstract

High school teachers in East Aceh face the challenge of limited skills in integrating technology, deep learning approaches, and game-based learning (GBL) strategies into teaching media. This condition results in learning that tends to remain conventional and less contextual to 21st-century needs. This community service activity aims to increase teacher capacity through education and workshops in developing digital educational cards based on local values using the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework. The activity was carried out at SMAN Unggul East Aceh for three days and involved 30 teachers from various subjects. The methods used included providing conceptual material, direct practice, collaborative mentoring, and evaluation through pretests and posttests, observations, and satisfaction questionnaires. All data were analyzed descriptively to describe improvements in participant knowledge, skills, and satisfaction. The results showed an increase in teacher understanding based on the average posttest score, which increased from 5.41 to 8.65, and the participant satisfaction level reached 4.75 on a scale of 5. The concrete product, in the form of interactive digital educational cards, produced by teachers demonstrated the ability to integrate local values into learning. This program is considered successful in creating a participatory, reflective, and creative learning atmosphere, and is recommended to be continued through ongoing mentoring and the formation of a teacher practice community.

Abstract

This article explores the effectiveness of a psychoeducational intervention in enhancing self-confidence among students at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sultan Alauddin Kulai, Malaysia. The study was initiated following preliminary findings that indicated low levels of self-confidence among many students, as evidenced by their pretest scores. In response, a psychoeducational program was implemented, focusing on strengthening self-concept, fostering emotional regulation, and cultivating a positive mindset. Utilizing a quantitative pretest–posttest design, the study involved a group of student participants.  The intervention began with a pretest, followed by an educational session, and concluded with a posttest using the same instrument. Pretest results showed an average score of 22.64 (56.6%), while posttest scores increased to 30.01 (75.03%), indicating a significant improvement. These findings underscore the value of school-based psychological programs in promoting students’ personal growth, particularly within the context of secondary education in Malaysia.

Abstract

This community service program was implemented under the UPN Veteran Jawa Timur Mengabdi scheme in Gunung Anyar Subdistrict, Surabaya. The primary objective was to enhance adolescents’ capacity to prevent sexual violence and bullying, while simultaneously strengthening their mental health literacy. The program employed a participatory psychoeducational approach, incorporating interactive lectures, group discussions, role-play simulations, and training on the use of the Circle of 6 digital application as a preventive tool. A total of 15 adolescents from the local Karang Taruna youth organization participated in a training session held on June 12, 2025, followed by mentoring sessions on August 6 and 14, 2025. Evaluation using pre- and post-test instruments indicated a 71% improvement in participants’ knowledge and skills, particularly in recognizing the forms and impacts of sexual violence and bullying, developing assertive communication, and building readiness to act as bystanders in high-risk situations. The use of the Circle of 6 application was proven effective in enhancing digital literacy and emergency preparedness among participants. Furthermore, the psychoeducational approach significantly increased participants’ awareness of stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms and encouraged a willingness to seek professional help. The novelty of this program lies in the integration of psychoeducational methods, digital technology, and community participation, which collectively empower adolescents to become agents of change within their social environment. Despite challenges such as limited training duration and varying levels of participant engagement, the program demonstrated strong potential for replication and scalability through cross-sector collaboration. Overall, this initiative contributes to the development of community-based intervention models grounded in science and technology (IPTEKS) to support efforts in preventing violence and promoting adolescent mental health in Indonesia.

Abstract

Psychoeducation is the involvement of parents in children's education which can be done with mentoring, motivating and guiding in learning. This needs to be done because parents have an important role in shaping children's character in the family environment. However, the role of parents has not been done much by parents. In general, parents of students completely hand over their children's education to teachers in their respective schools. In addition, parents have the assumption that child development in education is the responsibility of teachers at school, not the responsibility of parents. Based on this phenomenon, it is necessary to carry out psychoeducational activities for parents on the importance of learning motivation for children. The method of the activity is carried out through three stages, namely preparation, implementation and evaluation of activities. The result of this activity is an increase in knowledge about the importance of psychoeducation in children's learning. In addition, the improvement of parents' skills in guiding, motivating and accompanying children while studying at home. Practically, parental involvement in children's education can increase achievement, increase motivation in learning and create an atmosphere of affection and parental attention to children.

Abstract

An active society plays a crucial role in enhancing physical fitness, productivity, and overall quality of life. Data from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) in 2023 indicated a steady decline in sports participation from 2021 to 2023. South Kalimantan ranks second lowest nationwide, with only 16.67% participation and an index score of 0.167. Furthermore, more than 77.13% of Indonesian children and adolescents aged 10 to 15 years were classified as having “low” or “very low” fitness levels. These conditions underscore the urgent need for health promotion through physical activity to support the Indonesia Emas 2045 vision. This community engagement program aimed to increase sports participation among school-age children in Banjarmasin through the innovative educational media CAKRAM RAGA (Sports Reference Disc) and educational videos. This educational media provides several options for physical exercise for children, allowing teachers and students to select a package of exercises for their daily exercise program. The training was conducted in the form of a seminar and workshop, during which participants were trained to use the CAKRAM RAGA media. The program took place on August 21–22, 2025, and involved physical education teachers, classroom teachers, and students, in collaboration with STIKES Suaka Insan Banjarmasin, with a total of 46 participants. Evaluation results demonstrated an improvement in participant knowledge regarding recommended physical activity, sport injury prevention, and nutrition for children, with the mean pre-test score increasing from 87.85 to 89.63 on the post-test. Although the improvement was only about 2%, it indicated that participants already had a strong baseline understanding, and the activities effectively reinforced existing concepts. Overall activity evaluation results showed that 98% of respondents strongly agreed that CAKRAM RAGA was easy to understand and use, while 94% strongly agreed that it was suitable for implementation in schools. Moreover, 98% expressed motivation to encourage daily student exercise after recognizing its importance. In conclusion, the implementation of the innovative educational media CAKRAM RAGA proved to be effective, user-friendly, and received highly positive feedback from participants. It is recommended that similar programs be expanded to more schools to broaden their benefits and promote an active, healthy generation in support of Indonesia Emas 2045.
