Abstract

The transition of extractive industry governance is one of the major challenges in realizing an inclusive green economy, especially in regions with a high dependency on this sector, such as Bojonegoro Regency. This study aims to analyze the efforts of Bojonegoro in transitioning the governance of extractive industries towards the implementation of an inclusive green economy, considering the dimensions of environmental sustainability, community participation, and economic growth. The research adopts a qualitative approach, with primary data analysis through in-depth interviews and secondary data from policy documents, official reports, and related literature. The findings indicate that the Bojonegoro local government has initiated various programs to improve the sustainability of the industry, such as economic diversification, capacity building for local communities, and strengthening environmental regulations. However, significant challenges remain, including fiscal dependence on revenues from the oil and gas sector and resistance from certain stakeholders. The study concludes that the success of the transition towards an inclusive green economy requires a more holistic policy integration, collaboration among stakeholders, and strengthening the role of local communities in decision-making. Recommendations include the formulation of long-term policies for local economic diversification, the development of renewable energy, and enhanced oversight of the environmental impacts of extractive activities. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for local governments and other stakeholders in developing sustainable and inclusive transition strategies.

Abstract

In the global era, people are looking for alternatives in fashion through the thrifting trend. This research aims to analyze the consumption practices of thrifting in Surabaya from a consumer perspective through Marvin Harris’ Cultural Materialism approach based on economic infrastructure, social structure, and cultural superstructure. This research uses a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The data collection technique was a questionnaire with 110 respondents in Surabaya, with ages between 15-40 years. Based on the frequency and preference of thrift shopping, thrift consumption is influenced by affordable prices, ease of access, and the role of digital technology. Economic infrastructure, including thrift stores to online platforms, makes it easy for consumers to obtain high quality stuff at low prices. Based on cultural values and meanings, thrifting is a symbol of sustainability, creativity, and identity expression. The shift in cultural superstructure reflects that second-hand clothing is accepted as a fashionable alternative that reflects social responsibility and uniqueness. Based on economic relations and local culture, thrifting is an activity that increases the potential of the informal economy by creating business opportunities and strengthening social networks. This research concludes that thrifting is not only an economic alternative but also part of a lifestyle that refers to the value of sustainability and has an impact on local culture.

Abstract

Various acts of domestic violence are the reality that troubles family life in various social classes. This study seeks to investigate violence experienced by men among professional families and the causes of women to commit such act. This study deployed qualitative methods and conducted in-depth interviews of 53 informants. The finding of the study indicates that men not only experience single violence, but a variation of violence that occurred in professional families, such as physical, economic, verbal/psychological, and sexual violence. This study shows the triggers for women to commit violence against men among professional families are insecurity, jealousy, and inequality in socioeconomic status. Men are burdened with patriarchy and tend to be passive in reacting to the violence they experience. Masculinity makes male victims of violence suffer triple oppression: They become the victims; they are embarrassed because they get a negative stigma from the community for failing and not being able to lead their families; and when men become the victims, they ‘get punished' because it is considered as ‘abnormal' for men to become victims of violence. Men react to the violence committed by their wives by carrying out latent resistance, manifest resistance, and alienation.
