Abstract

Introduction: The lockdown due to the COVID-19 leads to changes in health behaviors, including physical activity and sleep quality. The consequence of insufficient sleep among most university students is a decline in their learning ability. Furthermore, insufficient sleep and lack of physical activity can have detrimental impacts on students' physical well-being, such as increased risk of chronic diseases. This study aimed to explore the association between physical activity, sleep quality, and academic performance in Indonesian undergraduate physiotherapy students. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design. One hundred and thirty-four students (Female, aged 18-25) were recruited from the Bachelor Program in Physiotherapy at a university in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index was used to assess sleep quality. To assess physical activity level, The International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form (IPAQ-SF) was used. Students' academic performance was evaluated based on the final grades of the selected course. Results: The majority (63%) of physiotherapy students had low physical activity levels. Almost all students (95.5%) suffered from poor quality of sleep. Sleep quality and academic performance were found to be positively correlated, indicating that students with good sleep quality performed better in school. It is noted that 64% of physiotherapy students with A and B grades had low physical activity. Conclusion: Academic performance is negatively correlated with poor sleep quality. High-achievement students typically have lower levels of physical activity. This study highlights the issue of insufficient sleep quality and the need for promotion of sleep hygiene.

Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is a major complication of atrial fibrillation, carries a high risk of recurrence. The likelihood of adverse effects from warfarin-drug interactions increases with the number of concurrent medications. Identifying these potential interactions is crucial. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of drug interactions on bleeding events and the incidence of recurrent stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. Methods: This retrospective study tracked 314 stroke patients with atrial fibrillation at Dr. Sardjito and Dr. Moewardi General Hospital over one year who received warfarin at two hospitals from January 2015 to December 2019. Using purposive sampling, 50 patients were analyzed and divided into two groups, 11 with stroke recurrence and 39 without recurrence in one year of treatment. Statistical analyses, including chi-square tests and odds ratio calculations, were performed to assess factors influencing stroke recurrence. Results: In addition, major, moderate, and minor drug interactions were not significantly different p>0,05. Meanwhile, minor drug interaction correlated with bleeding event (p<0,05) and OR 0,1. The study underscored an elevated risk of bleeding associated with combinations such as warfarin-amiodarone, warfarin-clopidogrel, and various NSAIDs in major interaction analysis. Conclusion: The research highlights an increased risk of bleeding caused by interaction in combinations therapiest such as warfarin-amiodarone, warfarin-clopidogrel, and various NSAIDs. These findings stress the importance of careful evaluation and management of drug interactions to reduce adverse effects and enhance outcomes for patients with recurrent strokes with atrial fibrillation.

Abstract

Introduction: The implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (OHS) is a form of effort to make a workplace that is safe, healthy, free from environmental pollution, so that it is free from work accidents and occupational diseases that can increase work efficiency and productivity. This study aims to analyze how legal protection for health workers against occupational safety and health standards in hospitals and how obstacles and solutions for legal protection for health workers against occupational safety and health standards at RSJ Grhasia Yogyakarta, RS JIH Yogyakarta, and RS Paru Respira Yogyakarta. Methods: The approach of this research is empirical juridical, the research specification is descriptive-analytical with qualitative data analysis. Results: Legal protection for health workers against occupational safety and health standards in hospitals has been implemented by the Law and Regulation of the Minister of Health. The obstacle faced by the hospital is the lack of hospital human resources whose duties are still concurrent so the OHS program is not optimal. The solution to these obstacles is that every month monitoring is always carried out for work programs and work reports even though human resources are limited but the occupational safety and health program continues to run optimally. Conclusion: The hospital can add human resources so that the OHS program in the hospital runs perfectly, giving sanctions to health workers who do not use PPE, making the OHS program in the hospital as a separate agency.

Abstract

Background: The human leukocyte antigen (HLA) system is critical in mediating immune responses by presenting peptides to T cells. Among the HLA loci, HLA-DPB1 is noteworthy for its role in immune regulation and disease susceptibility. The HLA-DPB1*05:01 allele, in particular has been associated with various immunological outcomes and disease processes, including hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. Objective: This review aims to explore the association of HLA-DPB1*05:01 with HBV infection, disease progression, and vaccine response, while also discussing the methodologies employed for sequencing this allele. Methods: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines, a comprehensive literature search was conducted across PubMed, ScienceDirect, Wiley, and Google Scholar. Studies included in this review focused on HLA-DPB1*05:01 in the context of HBV, encompassing epidemiological research, clinical outcomes, and sequencing techniques. Results: The HLA-DPB1*05:01 allele plays a significant role in HBV infection, with its effects varying across different populations. In Caucasians, it is associated with spontaneous clearance of HBV, suggesting a protective role. Conversely, in East Asian and Chinese populations, it is linked to increased susceptibility to chronic HBV infection. This allele also influences disease progression, slowing progression to severe liver diseases in some populations but increasing risk in others. Additionally, HLA-DPB1*05:01 affects antiviral treatment efficacy and is associated with a higher likelihood of non-response to the hepatitis B vaccine. Conclusion: The HLA-DPB1*05:01 allele significantly impacts HBV infection outcomes, highlighting the complex interplay between genetic and environmental factors. While sequencing techniques provide detailed genetic analysis, variability in study methodologies and population-specific effects present challenges. Future research should address these limitations to enhance understanding of HLA-DPB1*05:01 and its role in HBV infection.

Abstract

Introduction: One marker of insulin resistance in type 2 diabetes is the triglyceride index (TyG), which has been studied to predict the development of diabetic kidney disease (DKD). This study investigates the correlation between the triglyceride glucose index and diabetic kidney disease in type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, Proquest, ScienceDirect, Taylor and Francis, Cochrane Library and Google Scholar search using search terms including (‘‘Triglyceride Glucose Index or TyG’’) and (‘‘Diabetic Kidney or Diabetic Nephropathy’’) and ("Diabetes Mellitus" OR "Diabetes Mellitus Type II" OR "Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus"). Results: A total of 8 studies were screened based on titles and abstracts, of which 7 studies were included in the analysis of TyG and DKD. A prediction model including the TyG index demonstrated excellent calibration and discrimination for the probability of DKD in research involving patients recently diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). This approach has potential applications in clinical practice. DKD and metabolic diseases are independently correlated with the TyG index. Recently, one sensitive method for identifying DKD with insulin resistance has been the TyG index. The TyG index is a readily available, affordable, and simple marker for identifying of microvascular problems in T2DM patients. Conclusion: In our review, TyG and DKD were significantly positively correlated in patients with type 2 diabetic mellitus. TyG index has potential as a practical tool for determining insulin resistance and predicting the probabilities that individuals with type 2 diabetes are related to diabetic kidney disease.

Abstract

Introduction: The anterior segment characteristics that may contribute to myopia are central corneal thickness and corneal endothelial cell density. The purpose of this study is to ascertain whether corneal endothelial density and central corneal thickness are associated with the degree of myopia. Methods: This cross-sectional observational analytical study was conducted from October to November 2018 at the Hasanuddin University Hospital in Makassar, Indonesia. Levior myopia (< -3.00 D) 61 eyes, moderate myopia (-3.00 D - -6.00 D) 30 eyes, and gravior myopia (> 6.00 D) 11 eyes comprised the 102 eyes of 65 myopic patients who participated in the study. The Snellen chart projector and trial lens set are used to test the refractive state of myopia. In contrast, the Nidek-CEM 530 specular microscope is used to measure the central corneal thickness and corneal endothelial cell density. Results: The high myopia group had the lowest CCT mean (521.3um; p: 0.199). The group with high myopia had the lowest mean ECD, 2777.6 (p<0.05). In cases of moderate myopia, a correlation between corneal ECD and CCT was found (p<0.05). Conclusion: The degrees of myopia and the CCT do not correlate. Reductions in corneal ECD are associated with myopia gravior. In moderate myopia, there is a strong positive relationship between corneal endothelial cell density and central corneal thickness.

Abstract

Introduction: Suboptimal milk production is often the reason why mothers stop breastfeeding, one of which is due to the lack of proper stimulation of the breasts. Breast massage, such as lactation massage, has been proven to stimulate the prolactin and oxytocin hormones that play a role in milk production and secretion. This study aims to determine the impact of breast massage training on the process of breast milk formation in third trimester pregnant women. Methods: This study used a one group pre-test and post-test design with pre-experimental quantitative methods. The sample consisted of 23 third trimester pregnant women who were selected using purposive sampling technique. The research was conducted at the Sulili Health Center, Pinrang Regency, in August-September 2024. Data were collected through questionnaires, skill checklists, and observation of colostrum production before and after training. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon non-parametric test. Results: The results showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge and skills after breast massage training. Before the training, all respondents had low knowledge and moderate skills. After the training, 100% of respondents reached the high knowledge and skill categories. In addition, colostrum production increased significantly, from 0% before training to 88% after training. Conclusion: Breast massage training is effective in improving knowledge, skills, and colostrum production in 3rd trimester pregnant women. It is expected that this training can be integrated in routine health education programs for pregnant women to support successful breastfeeding.
