Abstract

Modern production systems are increasingly complex, requiring scheduling methods that can handle dynamic environments, diverse constraints, and large-scale operations. Traditional approaches often lack flexibility, while machine learning (ML)–based methods, despite their potential, still face limitations related to scalability, generalizability, interpretability, and computational efficiency. This study presents a systematic literature review of 77 primary studies published between 2014 and 2024, conducted in accordance with the Kitchenham and Charters framework. The review analyzes major research outlets, commonly applied ML techniques, reported performance, and proposed enhancements. Reinforcement learning, particularly deep reinforcement learning, dominates the literature, with methods such as Q-Learning, Deep Q-Networks, and Proximal Policy Optimization showing promise for dynamic scheduling. However, challenges remain regarding convergence speed, data requirements, reward design, and real-time adaptability. Future research should focus on scalable, adaptive, interpretable models and tighter integration with real-time data and Industry 4.0 systems.

Abstract

Stitching is an important process in jumbo sack production, which is done semi-manually with one worker per machine. Problems arise because the height of the work chair does not match the dimensions of the worker's body, giving rise to complaints of musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) in the back and neck. The research results show that workers add hard cushions to chairs, with the aim of adjusting body height requirements. This causes a burning sensation and pain in the buttocks area, this was proven by 11 out of 12 workers who felt the same complaint. This research aims to redesign the jumbo sack sewing work chair based on anthropometric data and percentile calculations using (P5, P50, P95). As a solution, this research proposes designing an ergonomic chair with a minimum seat height of 47 cm and a maximum height of 52 cm, a seat length of 40 cm, a seat width of 40 cm, a backrest height of 52 cm, and a top backrest width of 44 cm. It is hoped that this design can become a reference in making ergonomic chairs to reduce worker complaints.

Abstract

The PQX Study Program is part of a State University in Indonesia, faces significant challenges in managing academic and administrative archives. Based on internal data until October, 2025, more than 6000 physical records are still managed manually or stored through online media such as Google Drive, without an integrated archiving system or adequate security mechanisms. This condition has resulted in delays in data retrieval, limited storage capacity, and increased operational costs due to the maintenance of physical archives. To address these issues, this study applies a software engineering approach using the System Development Life Cycle (SDLC) model to design a web-based archival information system prototype. The purpose of this research is to develop an integrated archival information system within the PQX Study Program. The research stages include user needs analysis, system design using a user-centered design approach, and prototype implementation. Data were collected through observation, and analysis of internal archival documents. The resulting digital archiving system design is expected to enhance document access efficiency, strengthen data security, and support the digital transformation of academic administration within the PQX Study Program.

Abstract

PT Putrasean Rubber Industri faces recurring shortages of brown rubber, which lead to stock outs, production delays, and increased inventory costs. This study aims to apply the Continuous Review System (CRS) method to improve raw material inventory control, minimize shortages, and reduce total inventory costs. The research uses production, demand, lead time, ordering cost, holding cost, and shortage cost data from September 2024 to August 2025. The CRS method is analyzed through two scenarios—back order and lost sales—and compared with the company’s existing inventory system. The results indicate that CRS provides more accurate calculations of optimal order quantity, safety stock, and reorder point. Furthermore, CRS generates lower total inventory costs compared to the existing method. Overall, the application of CRS is proven to be more efficient in ensuring production continuity and meeting customer demand consistently.

Abstract

UD. Aneka is a screen-printing convection business operating with a make-to-order system that still relies on manual printing, resulting in slow production, dependence on skilled labor, and high operational costs. These conditions lead to order delays and reduced production efficiency. Direct Transfer Film (DTF) technology offers a potential solution, as it can accelerate the printing process, reduce unit costs, and improve production capacity and quality. However, adopting DTF requires an initial investment of Rp 30,000,000 with an economic life of five years. Therefore, an investment feasibility analysis was conducted using NPV, IRR, B/C Ratio, and Payback Period methods. The results show an NPV of Rp 10.729.653, an IRR of 36,84%, a B/C Ratio of 1,76, and a Payback Period of 2,15 years, all indicating feasibility. A sensitivity test of ±10–40% on investment costs and raw material costs shows feasibility; at -10% and -20%, sales volume also indicates that the investment remains feasible. Thus, the investment in DTF equipment is declared financially viable
