Abstract

This study aims to analyze the queuing system at SPBU Batui II, located on Jalan Trans Sulawesi, Banggai Regency, focusing on motorcycle fuel service. The applied model is the Multiple Channel Queuing System (M/M/S), used to assess service efficiency based on 30-day observation data and customer perceptions collected through questionnaires. The observations revealed that the average service time is 3.89 minutes, with a facility utilization rate of 90.7%, indicating a near-saturation condition. A simulation with an additional service lane demonstrated a significant decrease in waiting time and the number of customers in the queue. The normality test showed that the service time data followed an approximately normal distribution, supporting the use of parametric statistical analysis. Additionally, over 90% of respondents reported satisfaction with the current service system. The study concludes that increasing the number of service lanes improves system efficiency and that the M/M/S model is effectively applicable to high-traffic fuel station queue management.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of preventive maintenance on Simplex machines at PT. XYZ using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method, which is calculated based on three main indicators: availability, performance, and quality. The calculation results show that the OEE value of Simplex machines reached 79%, which is still below the international standard. According to the Six Big Losses analysis, equipment failure, idling, and minor stoppages are the main causes of low machine effectiveness. To achieve this goal, a root cause analysis was conducted using a fishbone diagram. Furthermore, as a strategy to increase machine productivity and preventive maintenance effectiveness, a 5W+1H approach was proposed.

Abstract

Selecting a business location is a important strategic decision for UMKM, often hindered by subjectivity. This research aims to determine the best business location in Dumai City for UMKM owners. The methodology integrates the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) for criteria weighting and the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) for alternative ranking. Data were collected from 20 respondents via questionnaires and interviews. Evaluation criteria included rental cost, accessibility, number of competitors, and location crowdedness . AHP results identified "nearby competitors" as the most significant criterion with a weight of 0.34. TOPSIS analysis selected "Near Offices" as the best alternative with a preference value of 0.63, followed by the city center (0.56), residential areas (0.33), and campus areas (0.29). These findings provide an objective basis for entrepreneurs in location decision-making to minimize investment risks.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the adsorption mechanism of shrimp chitosan on 40-mesh silica sand under varying salinity and concentration conditions as a basis for evaluating its potential as an environmentally friendly polymer for Green Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) applications. Chitosan was prepared at concentrations of 5000, 10000, and 15000 mg/L, with NaCl salinities of 10000 and 20000 mg/L. Batch adsorption experiments were conducted, and adsorption behavior was evaluated using Henry, Freundlich, Langmuir, and Harkins–Jura isotherm models. The results show that the Freundlich and Langmuir models provide a better representation of chitosan adsorption behavior than the Henry and Harkins–Jura models. Chitosan adsorption exhibits greater stability at higher salinity and tends to follow a monolayer adsorption mechanism on heterogeneous surfaces. These findings highlight the importance of a multi-isotherm approach in understanding biopolymer adsorption behavior and indicate that shrimp chitosan has potential as an environmentally friendly polymer for chemical injection in sandstone reservoirs.

Abstract

The amplang dough cutting process at PT Dzakira Citra Mandiri was initially carried out manually using a non-ergonomic working posture, such as a bent body position and repetitive hand movements. These conditions potentially cause musculoskeletal complaints and increase ergonomic risks for operators. The initial evaluation using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) method showed a total complaint score of 145, which falls into the high-risk category, while the Rapid Upper Limb Assessment (RULA) resulted in a score of 6, indicating the need for immediate improvement. This study aims to design an ergonomically based amplang dough cutting machine by applying the NBM and RULA methods, as well as workers’ anthropometric data, to determine appropriate machine dimensions. The design process was conducted using CATIA software to produce a machine configuration that matches workers’ physical characteristics. After implementation, a re-evaluation showed a reduction in the NBM score to 77, classified as low risk, and a decrease in the RULA score to 4. In addition, the use of the machine improved work efficiency and ensured consistent amplang cutting sizes in accordance with production standards.

Abstract

Chitosan bioplastics offer a sustainable alternative to synthetic packaging but suffer from inherent brittleness. This study employs a Systematic Literature Review (2015–2025) to comparatively analyze the effects of Glycerol and Sorbitol plasticizers on the mechanical properties of chitosan films. Meta-analysis results reveal a significant mechanical trade-off. Sorbitol-plasticized films demonstrate high Tensile Strength (41–75 MPa) with limited Elongation (<15%), making them suitable for rigid packaging. Conversely, Glycerol effectively enhances flexibility (Elongation up to 60%) but drastically reduces structural integrity (<25 MPa) and exhibits high hygroscopic sensitivity, positioning it as the preferred choice for flexible packaging. The study concludes that plasticizer selection must align with specific end-use requirements.

Abstract

UD. XYZ is a Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) focused on bread production. During its production process, it encounters various challenges such as changes in raw material prices, problems in the dough fermentation process, delays in supplier deliveries, and an expiry rate of 8-18% per month. Specifically, a two-part House of Risk (HOR) model and a Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) model are used. First, the SCOR model is used to map the processes in the bakery product supply chain. This data is then loaded into the first stage of the HOR. The next step is to determine the ARP value after evaluating the severity and frequency of incidents. Strategies to manage or mitigate risks are developed using the HOR in the second stage. Twenty risk events and nineteen risk agents were identified at UD. XYZ, with ten priority risk agents identified using a Pareto diagram and mitigation techniques developed. To reduce the likelihood of risk agents appearing in the organization, the second stage of the HOR includes sixteen suggested management tactics.
