Abstract

This study aims to measure the level of user satisfaction, specifically among Industrial Engineering students, with the Academic Information System of Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (SIAKAD UNG) using the Post Study System Usability Questionnaire (PSSUQ) method. Data were collected by distributing an online questionnaire to 63 student respondents. The results show an overall average score (Overall) of 3.88 (on a 1-5 scale), indicating a positive level of user satisfaction. Information Quality (InfoQual) achieved the highest score (3.89), followed by System Usefulness (SysUse) at 3.85, and Interface Quality (IntQual) at 3.78. The key finding reveals that the system's strength lies in its information quality, while the user interface is the aspect most in need of improvement to enhance the overall user experience. The results of this study are expected to serve as an empirical reference for the development and quality improvement of SIAKAD UNG services.

Abstract

Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) is applied in heat treatment processes, holding time, heating temperature, and cooling rate are very important factors. PWHT is also intended to relieve residual stresses (stress relieving). Therefore, this study aims to determine the effect of holding time with coconut oil as the cooling medium in PWHT on the toughness of ST 42 steel. The research method employed was an experimental method using a heat treatment temperature of 590°C, holding times of 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 hours, and coconut oil as the cooling medium, after SMAW welding at a current of 120 A, using an E6013 electrode, flat welding position, and V-groove joint. Subsequently, toughness testing was carried out using the Charpy impact method. The steel material used in this study was ST 42. The results showed that holding time affected the toughness of PWHT-treated steel, where the lowest toughness value was 0.84 J/mm² at a holding time of 5 hours, and the highest toughness value was obtained at a holding time of 1 hour, with a toughness value of 1.366 J/mm². This proves that a longer holding time in the furnace leads to a decrease in the toughness of ST 42 steel subjected to PWHT at a temperature of 590°C.

Abstract

Raw material inventory control plays a crucial role in ensuring the continuity of production in tofu home industries that depend on the daily availability of soybeans. The tofu home industry owned by Mr. Taryoto still applies a simple inventory system, which may cause cost inefficiencies and the risk of raw material shortages. This study aims to analyze soybean raw material inventory control using the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) method to determine the optimal order quantity, safety stock, and reorder point. This research employs a quantitative descriptive approach with data collected through observation, interviews, and documentation. The research sample consists of soybean usage and purchasing data over a one-year period. The results show that the optimal order quantity is 300 kg per order with a purchasing frequency of 72 times per year, an average inventory of 150 kg, a safety stock of 20 kg, and a reorder point at an inventory level of 140 kg. The implementation of the EOQ method improves inventory efficiency and supports sustainable production continuity.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the mechanical properties of metal materials produced using various manufacturing techniques, both conventional and additive manufacturing (AM) technologies such as SLM, WAAM, and EBM. The main focus of this study is to evaluate the influence of microstructure and porosity on the tensile strength, stiffness, ductility, and fatigue resistance of these materials. The research method used is a comparative experimental study, collecting data from the latest literature and laboratory test results on materials such as high-strength steel, aluminum alloys, and composites. Research findings indicate that the use of innovative materials can improve production efficiency and vehicle performance, with some AM materials exhibiting higher strength despite a sacrifice in flexibility. The recommendation for this research is to optimize material selection based on application and more efficient manufacturing processes.

Abstract

Indonesia, as the world's largest palm oil producer, generates approximately 26 million tons of palm shell waste annually. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of contact time of NaOH-activated palm shell biosorbent on reducing water quality parameters in the WTP (Water Treatment Plant) sand filter unit at PKS PTPN IV Regional 3. Palm shells were prepared through washing, drying at 105°C, grinding, and sieving at 100 mesh. Chemical activation using 1 M NaOH for 2 hours without carbonization process resulted in increased material porosity. Adsorption testing was conducted at contact times of 30, 60, 90, and 120 minutes with adsorbent dosage of 10 grams per 100 mL water sample. Results showed that adsorption efficiency for Fe parameter reached 88-95% at 90 minutes contact time, turbidity reached 85-93% at 60 minutes, pH increased from 5.5 to 6.5-7.0, and TDS decreased from 27 to 25 mg/L. Kinetic analysis indicated that adsorption followed the pseudo-second-order model with determination coefficient R² = 0.998 for Fe and R² = 0.999 for turbidity, indicating chemisorption mechanism. Palm shell biosorbent without carbonization proved effective as an environmentally friendly alternative for water purification in palm oil industry WTP systems.

Abstract

This research analyzes the price trends of aluminum, copper, and nickel during the period 2015–2025 and their implications for the cost of manufacturing materials in Indonesia. This study examines the increasing volatility of global metal prices, which directly impacts the cost structure of the manufacturing industry. The research aims to identify price change patterns for the three metals and examine their impact on manufacturing material costs. This research uses a quantitative approach with secondary data consisting of metal prices from the London Metal Exchange and Kitco Metals, as well as sales and material cost data from national metal distribution company reports. The analysis was conducted using descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression. The research findings indicate that the increase in metal prices, particularly after 2020, has a significant impact on the rise in manufacturing material costs, with nickel exerting the greatest cost pressure. This research recommends strengthening the downstream metal industry to reduce dependence on global price fluctuations.

Abstract

Palm Oil Mill Effluent (POME) has very high COD (26,420 mg/L) and acidic pH (5.25), requiring a simple, economical, and sustainable polishing stage to approach environmental quality standards. This study investigates the effect of mesh size variation and stirring speed on the performance of unactivated oil palm fiber as a polishing medium for POME effluent with alum and PAC addition to reduce COD and modify pH. Laboratory-scale batch experiments used POME effluent from PKS Sei Pagar (COD 26,420 mg/L, pH 5.25), pyrolyzed oil palm fiber (yield 63.12%, moisture 4.88%) with mesh sizes 60 and 70, stirring at 50-100 rpm for 30 minutes, and alum/PAC solution (5 g/250 ml) at 4 ml/100 ml POME. The mesh 60 + alum 100 rpm combination achieved the highest COD reduction of 54.4% and relatively stable final pH.

Abstract

Food stands at the Ngagel Supermarket shopping center, Surabaya, often experience long queues, especially during peak hours, which can reduce customer comfort. This research aims to analyze the queuing system using a single channel single phase model in order to evaluate service performance and provide recommendations for improvement. The method used is a descriptive quantitative approach with direct observation to collect data on arrival and customer service. The analysis results show that the level of service intensity (ρ) is 0.7, the average number of customers in the system (L) is 2.33 customers, and the average number of customers waiting in line (Lq) is 1.63 customers. Meanwhile, the average customer time in the system (W) is 3.33 minutes and the average time waiting in line (Wq) is 2.34 minutes. These findings suggest that even if the system is running fairly efficiently, increasing customer volumes can cause queues to build up. Therefore, it is recommended that there be additional service points or better queue management to maintain service efficiency and comfort.

Abstract

Power transformer protection systems require continuous optimization to ensure operational reliability and protection selectivity. This study analyzes the implementation of a two-stage Standby Earth Fault (SBEF) relay on a 60 MVA power transformer at the Tello 150 kV Substation to improve protection coordination. The methodology includes system simulation using ETAP 12.6.0 and validation through field testing. The results indicate that the two-stage SBEF configuration with a first-stage current setting of 86.6 A (TMS 0.097) and a second-stage setting (TMS 0.117) using a Long Time Inverse characteristic provides optimal protection coordination. Phase-to-ground fault simulations demonstrate selective relay operation, with feeder GFR operating at 512 ms, incoming GFR at 982 ms, first-stage SBEF at 5380 ms, and second-stage SBEF at 6490 ms. Field testing using a CMC 356 relay test set shows a maximum error of 2.02%, confirming strong agreement between theoretical calculations, simulations, and practical implementation.

Abstract

Pressure Control Equipment (PCE) is a vital piece of equipment in the oil and gas industry that controls fluid pressure to ensure operational safety. PCE malfunction can lead to leaks, work accidents, and even operational losses. This study aims to analyze the application of field practices in Pressure Control Equipment repair and maintenance activities at Net Company, specifically the Hydrostatic test (hydrotest) method. The study was conducted through direct observation at Net Company's workshop, in the form of pressure test data analysis. The results of the study indicate that the PCE maintenance and testing process has been carried out in accordance with API SPEC 6A standards. Hydrotest testing at low, medium, and high pressures showed pressure stability without any leaks, so the equipment was declared operationally fit. The conclusion of this study shows that the implementation of systematic and standardized field practices plays a very important role in maintaining equipment reliability and safety in oil and gas operations.
