Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the level of mental workload experienced by firefighters in Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo. The method used was the Rating Scale Mental Effort (RSME), with the research subjects consisting of three work shifts, each containing nine officers. The measurements focused on the level of mental effort required when performing tasks such as standing by, extinguishing fires, rescuing people, and other support tasks that require full attention. The results showed that each shift had a different mental workload score, influenced by incidents, pressure to act quickly, and unpredictable waiting conditions. Overall, the RSME scores indicate that most officers fall into the moderate to high mental load category, especially in activities that require high concentration and quick decisions. These findings show that firefighting work not only relies on physical strength but also requires strong mental preparedness to ensure personal and public safety.

Abstract

Biodiesel production produces crude glycerol as a byproduct that cannot be utilized directly because it still contains various impurities. The crude glycerol used in this study had a glycerol content of 72%, a water content of 1.78%, ash content of 16.4%, and a density of 1.08 g/cm³, which indicates that the glycerol quality is still low due to the high water content and inorganic components. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of three types of adsorbents, namely activated carbon, zeolite, and bentonite, in improving the quality of crude glycerol from used cooking oil. The purification process is carried out through distillation, acidification, and adsorption stages with adsorbent variations of 5%, 7%, and 9%. Then, the purified glycerol was analyzed based on the parameters of glycerol content, water content, ash content, and density.

Abstract

Manual mixing of animal feed in small-scale farms often results in non-homogeneous mixtures and requires a considerable amount of time. In addition, the addition of liquids such as vitamins or molasses is generally performed manually, leading to imprecise measurements. This study aims to design a 25 kg capacity animal feed mixer machine integrated with an automatic watering system to improve feed efficiency and quality. The research methods include machine element calculations, design modeling using SolidWorks, and structural strength simulation through static simulation analysis. The design results in a mixing chamber with dimensions of 0.40 m × 0.30 m × 0.325 m, driven by a 0.71 HP electric motor with a shaft rotation speed of 115 rpm. The automatic watering system is capable of supplying 3 liters of liquid within 44.96 seconds, ensuring an ideal moisture content of the feed. Structural strength simulation shows a maximum stress of 72.3 MPa on the frame with a Safety Factor of 5.0, while the mixing chamber experiences a maximum stress of 38.57 MPa with a Safety Factor of 9.1. These results indicate that the machine design is safe to operate and can serve as an appropriate technological solution to enhance feed productivity for farmers.

Abstract

This study aims to apply the Monte Carlo simulation method to predict daily sales in a small-scale bakery enterprise to support risk-based production planning. The data used consisted of historical daily sales records analyzed to obtain statistical parameters, including mean and standard deviation. The results indicate that daily demand follows a normal distribution with an average of 151.73 units. A Monte Carlo simulation with 10,000 iterations was conducted to estimate the distribution of daily profit and associated risk levels. The findings show an average daily profit of IDR 199,029 with a 95% Value at Risk (VaR) of IDR 99,952. Furthermore, a positive correlation of 0.629 was identified between demand and profit. These results demonstrate that the Monte Carlo method is effective in modeling demand uncertainty and supporting more optimal and efficient production decision-making in micro and small enterprises.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of a queueing system in a small-scale coffee shop operation using the Monte Carlo simulation method based on historical data from 2022–2026. Coffee shop operations exhibit stochastic characteristics influenced by fluctuations in customer arrivals and service time variability. Data on daily visitors, revenue, cost, and profit were processed using Microsoft Excel to construct empirical probability distributions. The simulation was executed through thousands of iterations to ensure statistical stability. The results indicate that the model effectively captures operational uncertainty, with convergent average daily profit and measurable downside risk assessed through percentile analysis and Value at Risk (VaR). The findings provide an analytical foundation for managerial decision-making regarding service capacity and cost control strategies. Monte Carlo simulation proves to be an effective tool for performance evaluation and risk management in small-scale service businesses.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze income distribution and evaluate the financial feasibility of Teh Poci MSMEs using a Monte Carlo simulation approach. The data consist of daily revenue over the last 30 days, which were processed to construct a probabilistic monthly income distribution through 10,000 simulation iterations. The results indicate that the average monthly revenue is approximately IDR 46.82 million, with a near-normal distribution and relatively low variability. The probability of achieving the target revenue of IDR 45 million exceeds 90%, while the Value at Risk (VaR) remains within an acceptable threshold. Sensitivity analysis reveals that small changes in daily average revenue significantly affect monthly projections. Overall, the Monte Carlo approach provides a comprehensive risk assessment framework and demonstrates that the Teh Poci MSME is financially feasible under normal operating conditions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the profitability and operational risk of a grilled chicken restaurant using a Monte Carlo simulation approach based on historical data from 2022–2026. The analyzed variables include number of customers, selling price, raw material cost, and fixed operational cost. A mathematical profit model was simulated through 10,000 iterations to obtain the probability distribution of daily profit. The results indicate an expected daily profit of approximately IDR 1.57 million with a very high probability of positive returns and minimal risk of loss. Correlation analysis reveals that price has a positive relationship with profit; however, the number of customers is identified as the most dominant factor influencing profitability. The stable convergence of the simulation confirms the reliability and validity of the model. These findings demonstrate that Monte Carlo simulation is an effective decision-support tool for financial feasibility evaluation and risk management in the culinary business sector.

Abstract

This study aims to optimize inventory policy in a toy retail store facing seasonal demand uncertainty using Monte Carlo simulation. Fluctuating demand often leads to overstock and stockout risks, increasing holding costs and potential lost sales. Historical daily demand data were used to construct a probabilistic model, followed by 10,000 simulation iterations to generate the probability distribution of total inventory costs. The cost model consists of holding costs and shortage costs. The simulation results indicate that total cost follows a probabilistic distribution and that an optimal reorder point exists to minimize the expected total cost. Sensitivity analysis confirms the trade-off between holding and shortage costs. The findings demonstrate that Monte Carlo simulation effectively supports adaptive, risk-based, and efficient inventory decision-making for small-scale retail businesses.
