Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of romantic relationships among university students on their Grade Point Average (GPA). Romantic relationships are a common social phenomenon during emerging adulthood and may affect cs3tudents’ academic engagement, motivation, and psychological well-being. This research employed a quantitative correlational approach involving undergraduate students from a public university. Data were collected through questionnaires measuring relationship status, perceived partner support, academic motivation, and cumulative GPA. The results indicate that romantic relationship status alone does not have a significant direct effect on GPA. However, the quality of partner support shows a positive correlation with academic motivation, which indirectly influences GPA. These findings suggest that romantic relationships do not necessarily hinder academic achievement, but their impact depends on the quality of support and students’ ability to balance academic and personal life. This study contributes to the limited literature on romantic relationships and academic performance among university students in developing countries.

Abstract

This study aims to forecast the number of incoming students in the Industrial Engineering Program at Al-Azhar University Medan using Monte Carlo simulation as a probability-based approach. Historical enrollment data from 2023–2025 were utilized to construct an empirical probability distribution, totaling 180 students. The research procedure includes probability calculation, cumulative probability determination, establishment of random number intervals on a 01–100 scale, and generation of pseudo-random numbers using the Mixed Congruential Random Number Generator (MCRNG) with parameters satisfying the Hull-Dobell theorem. A total of 1,000 simulation iterations were performed to obtain a stable output distribution. The results indicate that simulated probabilities closely approximate theoretical values: 15.00% (2023), 35.00% (2024), and 50.00% (2025), with an average absolute deviation of 0.0037. Based on the probabilistic pattern and historical growth trend, the projected enrollment for 2026 is estimated at 90–95 students. These findings demonstrate that Monte Carlo simulation is an effective tool for data-driven academic planning.

Abstract

The results of the co-occurrence, co-authorship, and citation analyses indicate that existing studies predominantly emphasize technical development, artificial intelligence integration, communication systems, and sustainability aspects, while quantitative operational performance modeling remains limited. Based on the identified research gaps, a discrete event simulation model was developed in promodel to represent operational processes, including order reception, routing, loading, flight operations, battery charging or swapping, and return cycles. Several policy scenarios were tested by varying fleet size, charging station capacity, and demand patterns. Simulation results demonstrate that system performance is significantly influenced by charging infrastructure capacity, resource allocation, and scheduling configuration, directly affecting delivery time, throughput, and drone utilization. The integration of bibliometric mapping and simulation modeling provides a comprehensive decision-support framework that bridges conceptual research trends with practical operational optimization in last-mile drone logistics.

Abstract

The rapid growth of motorcycle ownership in urban areas of East Java has increased the demand for efficient vertical parking facilities; however, most conventional parking structures remain energy-intensive, poorly ventilated, and insufficiently aligned with sustainable civil engineering principles. This study aims to analyze the implementation of green building concepts in the planning of motorcycle parking structures and to evaluate their influence on spatial efficiency, natural ventilation performance, and building energy consumption intensity. The research employs a descriptive-quantitative method with a case study approach focusing on a multi-story motorcycle parking facility in an urban area of East Java. Data were collected through field observations, technical building documentation, structured interviews with two facility managers, and questionnaires administered to 30 parking users. The analysis included calculations of parking space unit requirements, the ratio of ventilation openings to floor area, cross-ventilation performance assessment, and measurement of Energy Consumption Intensity (ECI), which were then evaluated against green building indicators. The results indicate that optimizing natural openings and passive daylighting significantly reduces dependence on mechanical systems, improves users’ thermal comfort, and enhances overall energy efficiency compared to conventional parking models.

Abstract

The Sukodadi-Plembon road section is located in Sukodadi District, Lamongan Regency. This road is 5,361 meters long and 4.3 meters wide and serves as a connection to the Lamongan Regency national road, resulting in an increase in the volume of vehicles passing through every day. Until now, the only treatment carried out is maintenance and repair of damaged road surfaces. This treatment is considered ineffective because the repair results are not long-lasting and have not been able to overcome the increasing traffic congestion. Therefore, appropriate pavement re-design is needed to reduce road damage while increasing user comfort. The use of rigid pavement construction was chosen because it has a longer service life than the previous pavement. The slab thickness design refers to the 2024 Pavement Design Manual with a thickness of 150 mm, equipped with longitudinal shrinkage joints using 16 mm diameter tie bars and transverse joints with 24 mm diameter dowels.

Abstract

The flange is an essential part of the wheel that serves to guide the wheel as it passes through curves. If worn, the flange can cause derailments and reduce the wheel’s service life. In LRT Jabodebek, flange wear is relatively high, requiring re-profiling (turning). This study aims to identify the effects of flange wear and explore methods to mitigate it. The analysis method uses a fishbone diagram to identify the root causes. The results show that flange wear is caused by the high number of curves with a radius less than 150 meters, which do not fully comply with existing maintenance standards. Reduced surface hardness due to repeated reprofiling and lack of thorough inspection during maintenance also contributes. Efforts to reduce wear include re-evaluating curves with small radii, adjusting rail widening and elevation, using coolant during turning, and conducting more thorough visual and manual inspections. Additionally, applying lubricant to the flange and rail curves can help minimize wear.

Abstract

The palm oil industry produces liquid waste in the form of palm oil boiled water which has a high organic compound content, causing high Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) values and unstable pH. This study aims to compare the performance of activated and unactivated OPEFB activated carbon with 0.1 M H2SO4 in reducing COD values and stabilizing the pH of palm oil boiled water through a batch adsorption process. The adsorption process is carried out in batches with variations in adsorbent mass, stirring speed, and certain contact time. Activated activated carbon is prepared using 0.1 M H2SO4 solution, while non-activated activated carbon is used without chemical treatment. The parameters analyzed include COD and pH values before and after the adsorption process. The results of the study showed that 0.1 M H2SO4-activated EFB activated carbon had better adsorption capacity than non-activated activated carbon in reducing COD from palm oil boiled water and producing a pH closer to neutral.

Abstract

As an adsorbent to reduce FFA levels and as a source of Calcium Oxide (CaO) for heterogeneous catalysts. Eggshells were calcined at 900°C for 4 hours to convert CaCO3 into active CaO, which was confirmed through XRD characterization with high crystallinity. The synthesis process was carried out in two stages: adsorption pretreatment and transesterification. The results showed that the adsorption process was able to significantly reduce the FFA content of used cooking oil from 4.5% to 0.8%. Optimum transesterification conditions were achieved at an oil:methanol molar ratio of 5:1, a catalyst weight of 3% (w/w), a temperature of 60°C, and a reaction time of 2 hours, resulting in a biodiesel yield of 92.4%. The physicochemical characteristics of the biodiesel produced include: density of 870 kg/m³, kinematic viscosity of 4.3 cSt, acid number of 0.42 mg-KOH/g, iodine number of 54 g-I2/100g, saponification number of 165.495 mg-KOH/g, and cetane number of 53. All test parameters have met the quality standard of SNI 7182:2015, indicating that duck eggshell waste has great potential as an economical and environmentally friendly catalyst raw material.
