Abstract

Porous asphalt emerges as an innovation in flexible pavement that allows water to flow vertically and horizontally into the base layer, while also providing skid resistance, reducing the risk of aquaplaning, and minimizing traffic noise. This study uses 60/70 penetration asphalt as a binder and investigates the addition of mill scale steel waste as a filler in porous asphalt mixtures. Mill scale is a by-product of the steel industry in the form of metal oxide, formed through the hot-rolled process at temperatures of 700–900 °C. The utilization of this waste as a filler is considered strategically valuable as it can reduce environmental pollution while supporting the principles of sustainable development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the characteristics of porous asphalt mixtures with the addition of mill scale filler from steel waste, in order to determine the mixture's performance and its potential application in road infrastructure in Indonesia.

Abstract

Sed oil is a hazardous waste that has the potential to pollute the environment if not managed properly. This study aims to design and analyze a used oil-fueled stove with an electric ignition system to improve efficiency and safety. The research method includes the design stage, material selection, calculation and numerical simulation using static analysis. The calculation results show a tank volume of 1.61 L, an oil flow rate of 0.63 m/s, a discharge of 0.179 L/s, and a fuel consumption of 0.0536 L/minute for 30 minutes of operation. Static simulation using von misses analysis produces a maximum stress of 3.128 x 10² kgf and a minimum of 1.341 x 10 ̄ ˡ kgf. The maximum displacement value is 7.717 x 10 ̄ ² mm and a minimum of 1.000 x 10 ̄ ³º mm. A safety factor (FOS) of 8.1 indicates that the stove structure is safe against working loads and operational temperatures. The electric ignition system is capable of producing high-voltage sparks, accelerating the oil combustion process.

Abstract

This study aims to forecast the retail price of medium-grade rice in Gorontalo Province using three Time Series models: ARIMAX, SARIMAX, and Prophet, with an exogenous variable representing the main harvest season. Monthly data from 2014–2024 were obtained from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of Gorontalo Province and processed using Python. Model accuracy was evaluated using Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) and Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) on the test dataset. Results show that Prophet achieved the best performance (RMSE IDR 381.48; MAPE 0.02%), followed by ARIMAX and SARIMAX. Prophet effectively captured long-term trends and seasonal patterns, projecting price fluctuations with significant increases in mid and late 2025. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for local governments and market stakeholders in supply planning and rice price stabilization strategies.

Abstract

ST-X crude oil exhibits waxy characteristics with an initial pour point of 22°C, which is very close to the field fluid temperature of 21.1°C, potentially causing flow disturbances and paraffin crystal formation. This study aims to evaluate the effect of varying concentrations of Pour Point Depressant (PPD) on pour point reduction through laboratory testing. A 1-Liter crude oil sample was divided into five portions (0.2 L each) and injected with PPD at concentrations of 5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 ppm, followed by cooling bath testing to determine the pour point values. The results indicate that increasing PPD concentration progressively reduced the pour point, reaching 13°C at 25 ppm. From technical and economic perspectives, 10 ppm is recommended as the optimum dosage, as it effectively maintains oil flowability under field operating conditions.

Abstract

Flooding is one of the hydrometeorological disasters that frequently occurs due to high rainfall intensity, land use changes, and the limited capacity of drainage systems in conveying surface runoff. Dukuh Bareng Village, located in Krian District, Sidoarjo Regency, is an area that often experiences inundation and flooding during periods of increased rainfall. This condition indicates the need for appropriate mitigation efforts through the planning of flood control infrastructure. This study aims to analyze surface runoff discharge based on hydrological data with specific return periods. The research methods include collecting rainfall data from several rain gauge stations around the study area and conducting hydrological analysis to determine the magnitude of runoff discharge. The results show that the surface runoff discharge increases with higher return periods of 2, 5, and 10 years, influenced by the increase in rainfall intensity. The highest discharge occurs in Sub-watershed 3, reaching 0.111 m³/s for the 10-year return period, which is influenced by the larger catchment area. Meanwhile, Sub-watershed 2 has a smaller discharge due to infiltration in open land areas. Overall, the magnitude of runoff discharge is affected by the catchment area, land use, and rainfall intensity.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze quality control in the tempe production process at Rumah Tempe Indonesia (RTI), Bogor, using the Seven Tools method. The data were collected through field observations, interviews with the production manager, and recording the types and quantities of defects over a one-month periode in February 2026. The analysis identified four main types of defects, namely overcooked, damaged packaging. spoiled tempe, and yellowing tempe, with a total of 353 defective products. Based on the Pareto diagram, overcooked tempe and damaged packaging were found to be the dominant defects, contributing to more than 70% of total defects. The scatter diagram analysis indicates that production volume does not have a strong relationship with the defect rate, suggesting that defects can still occur under both high and low production conditions. Meanwhile, the control chart shows that the production process is not yet fully under statistical control. Furthermore, the fishbone diagram analysis reveals that the causes of defects are influenced by several factors, including human, method, material, environment, and machine. This study recommends improving supervision during fermentation and packaging processes, as well as enhancing quality recording systems to improve overall product quality.

Abstract

The growing global population has led to a surge in waste, which is having an increasing impact on environmental sustainability. One alternative to address this issue is waste recycling. The recycling process involves energy consumption and the use of chemicals, which can potentially result in environmental impacts. This study aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) to measure the environmental impacts of recycled products. It examines research trends and directions through a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) combined with bibliometric analysis using the ScienceDirect database for the period 2021–2026. The literature review focuses on recycled products within the scope of LCA systems and environmental impact methods in Life Cycle Impact Assessment (LCIA). The results of this study indicate that the application of LCA for recycled products is predominantly conducted in the plastic and battery industries. However, further application of LCA to recycled products across all industrial sectors promotes green industry policies and sustainability.

Abstract

Refuse-Derived Fuel (RDF) has increasingly been explored as an alternative energy source derived from solid waste, offering potential contributions to both energy transition and improved waste management. However, the environmental performance of RDF systems has not been widely examined using comprehensive approaches such as Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and circular economy frameworks. This study applies a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) combined with bibliometric analysis to identify research trends and thematic developments in RDF studies. A total of 109 Scopus-indexed articles were analyzed using VOSviewer, resulting in nine thematic categories, including fuel characterization, production processes, energy recovery, environmental impact, LCA, circular economy, modeling and simulation, application, and innovation. The findings show that most studies still focus on production and energy recovery, while sustainability oriented topics such as LCA and circular economy remain relatively underexplored.

Abstract

Efficient warehouse layout management is a crucial factor in supporting smooth logistics operations. The Temporary Storage Warehouse (TPS) of PT XYZ currently applies a random storage system, resulting in high material handling distances, increased operational costs, and low space utilization. This study aims to redesign the warehouse layout using the class-based storage method combined with a block stacking system based on ABC analysis. The research method used is descriptive quantitative, with data collected through observation and interviews. The results show that the proposed layout reduces the material handling distance from 206,492 m/year to 147,970 m/year and decreases material handling costs from IDR 2,477,904 to IDR 1,775,640, achieving an efficiency of 28.34%. In addition, storage capacity increases from 250–300 packages to 400 packages. Therefore, the proposed warehouse layout design is proven to be more optimal in improving warehouse operational efficiency.
