Abstract

Purpose: Passing accuracy is an essential technical skill in volleyball that determines the effectiveness of team attacks and game organization. However, many developing athletes still experience difficulties in maintaining accurate and consistent passing performance. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the relationship between passing accuracy and on-point passing skills among Kendal Sewu volleyball players. Materials and Methods: This study employed a descriptive approach involving 12 active volleyball players from the Kendal Sewu Volleyball Club aged between 15 and 25 years. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of 24 items designed to measure passing accuracy and on-point passing performance. Observations during training sessions were also conducted to support the data. Instrument validity and reliability were tested using item-total correlation and Cronbach’s Alpha with SPSS software. Result: The findings indicate that most players still demonstrate inconsistent passing accuracy during training sessions and gameplay situations. Only a small proportion of players showed adequate on-point passing performance, while the majority experienced difficulties in directing passes accurately toward teammates. These findings suggest that technical mastery, coordination, and training variation may influence passing performance. Conclusion: Passing accuracy plays a crucial role in building effective offensive strategies in volleyball. The results highlight the importance of structured and varied training programs to improve passing precision and overall team coordination among Kendal Sewu volleyball players.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to improve T-kick skills in Pencak Silat among students at Ta'Miriyah Surabaya High School through the drill method. The T-kick is a fundamental technique requiring precision, coordination, and consistency. The drill method was selected due to its emphasis on repetitive and focused practice, allowing students to refine specific technical components effectively. Materials and Methods: A quantitative experimental design was applied, involving 20 students participating in the Pencak Silat extracurricular program. The training program lasted six weeks, with sessions conducted twice weekly. To measure improvement, students were assessed using a pre-test before the intervention and a post-test after completing the training. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired t-test to determine the significance of differences between pre- and post-test results. Result: The findings indicated a significant improvement in students’ T-kick performance following the drill-based training. This enhancement was reflected in better accuracy, speed, and overall execution of the technique. The average pre-test score increased from 30.92 to 34.17 in the post-test. Statistical analysis yielded a p-value of 0.000, confirming a statistically significant difference between the two measurements. Conclusion: The drill method proved effective in enhancing T-kick skills among high school students. The structured and repetitive nature of this approach supports skill acquisition and technical mastery in martial arts training. This study highlights the importance of targeted training methods and provides practical implications for coaches and educators in developing students’ fundamental Pencak Silat techniques at the school level.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the integration of sport marketing and sustainability within Indonesia’s growing sports industry, employing a comprehensive mixed-methods approach to identify key challenges, opportunities, and practical strategies for implementing sustainable practices. Materials and Methods: The research employed a mixed-methods design, combining qualitative interviews with 30 industry stakeholders and quantitative surveys of 120 participants. The sample represented diverse sectors, including sports organizations, marketing professionals, athletes, event planners, policymakers, and fans. Result: Findings reveal a significant disconnect between sustainability awareness and practical application; while 65% of respondents demonstrated general awareness of sustainability concepts, only 30% understood their specific relevance to sport marketing. Current initiatives, such as eco-friendly merchandise and green events (25%), were found to be largely ad hoc rather than strategically implemented. Three primary opportunity areas were identified: leveraging Indonesia’s high digital penetration, forming strategic partnerships with sustainability-focused brands, and developing targeted fan engagement campaigns. Notably, 70% of stakeholders recognized the brand reputation benefits of sustainable marketing, though 50% expressed concerns regarding implementation costs and complexity. Conclusion: These findings highlight the critical need for structured educational initiatives and policy support to bridge the awareness-implementation gap. Consequently, the research team developed the "Sustainable Sport Marketing for Indonesia" training program to equip professionals with tools to align marketing strategies with environmental and social goals. The study contributes to academic and practical discourse by demonstrating how sport marketing can drive sustainability in emerging markets, while addressing Indonesia’s unique challenges, such as resource limitations and infrastructure constraints.

Abstract

Purpose: The emergence of digital drugs (binaural beats) presents a novel and under-researched challenge within sports, particularly in contexts like Nigeria where psychological support structures are often underdeveloped. This study aimed to assess the level of awareness, sources of information, and usage patterns of digital drugs among Nigerian sports personnel (athletes, coaches, medical staff) and to examine the relationship between awareness and indicators of addiction-like behaviour. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional survey design was employed, with data collected from 297 personnel via a validated questionnaire (α=.89). Data analysis utilized descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation, one-way ANOVA, and chi-square tests.   Result: Findings revealed a critical knowledge deficit: only 28.6% of respondents were familiar with the term "binaural beats," and 12.8% reported usage. Crucially, no significant relationship was found between awareness levels and addictive behaviour (r = -0.028, p = 0.627). Dependence on informal information sources (e.g., social media, peers) was high and consistent across all professional categories (p > 0.05), indicating a systemic issue. Conclusion: The study identifies a widespread and systemic vulnerability to digital psychoactive aids within the Nigerian sports ecosystem.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the role of basic stance techniques in pencak silat learning to improve PJOK learning outcomes among students. Materials and Methods: This study employed a literature review approach by analyzing six selected scientific articles published within the last ten years. The data were collected from databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect using keywords related to pencak silat, stance techniques, and PJOK learning. Result: The findings indicate that mastery of basic stance techniques significantly contributes to improving students’ motor skills, balance, coordination, and understanding of movement concepts. In addition, the use of instructional media such as video tutorials and interactive multimedia enhances student motivation and learning outcomes. Conclusion: Basic stance techniques play a fundamental role in improving the effectiveness of PJOK learning. Therefore, they should be emphasized as a core component in pencak silat instruction in schools.

Abstract

Purpose: Nutrition knowledge, attitudes, and behaviours (NKAB) are important determinants of dietary habits and body composition (BC) in athletes.  This study aimed to examine the associations between nutrition knowledge, dietary behaviours, attitudes, and body composition in professional first-class cricketers in Sri Lanka.  This cross-sectional study examined associations between NKAB and BC among 43 of 45 domestically contracted male first-class cricketers in Sri Lanka.   Materials and Methods: NKAB was assessed using the validated Sri Lanka specific Sports Nutrition Knowledge Questionnaire (SLn-SNKQ). BC was measured via the sum of seven-site skinfolds. Descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlations, and regression analyses explored associations, with significance set at p < 0.05.   Result: Participants displayed moderate nutrition knowledge (mean 8.0 ± 6.1), but no significant associations emerged between NK, behaviours, attitudes, and BC (p > 0.05). Regression analysis showed NKAB collectively did not predict variance in BC (R² = 0.06, p = 0.48).   Conclusion: Higher NK was not associated with more favourable BC, highlighting the influence of contextual and cultural barriers on nutrition practice. The study provides the first dataset on NKAB and BC in Sri Lankan cricketers, emphasizing the need for tailored interventions addressing affordability, accessibility, and cultural norms to bridge the gap between knowledge and practice.
