Abstract

Learning methods are considered to be a factor in improving nursing student learning outcomes. The pedagogy currently used greatly limits the role of students in taking an active role in class, has high costs, and limits the number of student ratios. Learning methods are needed that can increase student interest in class, and work together in teams, and are able to influence academic performance, such as the Team-Based Learning (TBL) method. Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of implementing TBL in improving nursing students learning outcomes. Method: The design of this research is a literature review. Article searches used Pubmed, Proquest, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, and Scopus databases. The research questions are structured using the PICO method, and keywords are based on Boolean combinations. There were 4083 articles found, and only 6 articles included were in accordance with the research questions. published from 2016-2021. Results: The results of critical analysis of articles that include the application of TBL to nursing students can significantly improve academic achievement, knowledge, clinical performance, learning attitudes, problem solving, critical thinking, learning attitudes, and learning experiences. Abstract

Stress and pain in premature babies can cause a decrease in oxygen saturation and changes in respiratory rate. Touch stimulation is one of the most advanced senses used by medical practitioners to soothe babies. Objective: This review aims to see the effectiveness of implementing infant massage therapy in increasing oxygen saturation in neonates. Method: A literature search was conducted on: PubMed, ScienceDirect, and CINAHL. The collected data is then extracted, synthesized, and presented as tables and narratives. The search strategy uses the keywords ("baby massage" OR "massage therapy") AND ("Neonatal") AND (Oxygen Saturation)). The articles used are from 2017 to 2023. Results: 757 neonates participated in 10 studies from 4 countries that met this review's criteria. The literature research design used was Quasi-experimental (n=4) and Randomized Controlled Trial (n=6). Conclusions: In this review, it was found that implementing massage therapy can increase the average percentage of oxygen saturation. This review also found that several studies agreed that massage therapy would be more effective when combined with the prone position. However, study results are still found to be inconsistent with these results. This may occur due to several factors including heterogeneity of implementation, differences in clinical conditions, and the lack of studies that specifically examine the effectiveness of implementing infant massage therapy on increasing oxygen saturation in neonates.

Dysmenorrhea is an important topic in reproductive health, especially in adolescents because it has a major impact on the quality of life of adolescents. Dysmenorrhea in adolescents negatively affects physical activity, school attendance, concentration during lessons and academic performance. Some of the symptoms that adolescents often experience in dysmenorrhea include headaches, back pain, fatigue, anxiety and other physical and psychological complaints. Pharmacological treatments commonly used often cause dangerous side effects so alternative treatments are needed that are considered safer and more effective. Peppermint is an example of a nonpharmacological therapy that aims to provide a distraction and relaxation effect of the body by stimulating the body to release endorphine compounds which are pain relievers so as to create feelings of comfort, calm nerves, and stabilize blood pressure. Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of Peppermint lotion administration on pain intensity and cortisol levels in adolescents with primary dysmenorrhea. Method: This study is a true experiment with randomized pretest-posttest with control group. The number of samples in the study was 40 adolescent respondents with primary dysmenorrhea according to inclusion criteria divided into 20 people in the intervention group who were given 3% peppermint lotion with a frequency of administration 3 times a day for 3 days and 20 people in the control group given placebo lotion. Measurement of pain intensity using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS) and cortisol levels using blood serum performed on the first day (pretest) and third day of menstruation (posttest). Data analysis using independent t test and mann whitney. Results: In the intervention group given peppermint lotion there was an average decrease in pain intensity of 4.6 while the control group was 3.55 with effect size 0.867 and p value = 0.013. The average decrease in cortisol levels in the intervention group was 2.64 μg/dL and the control group was 0.94 μg/dL with effect size 0.864 and p value = 0.010. Conclusions: Administration of peppermint lotion for 3 days has an effect on reducing pain intensity and cortisol levels in adolescents with primary dysmenorrhea.
