Abstract

Healthcare workers have a significant risk of being infected with COVID-19, as well as the risk of experiencing Post-COVID Syndrome symptoms, with fatigue being the most commonly reported. Reality shows that after being declared recovered from COVID-19, patients do not immediately become free from complaints such as shortness of breath, fatigue, pain, or depression. Post-COVID-19 sequelae symptoms cannot be ignored, as they can interfere with daily activities and reduce the quality of life for COVID-19 survivors. This study aims to analyze the comparison of Pursed Lip Breathing exercises and Diaphragm Breathing exercises in increasing forced vital capacity (FVC) and first second expiratory volume (VEP1) in post-covid-19 patients at Aji Muhammmad Parikesit Tenggarong Hospital. This research is a quantitative study that was carried out using post-covid patient data, with a sample of 18 respondents to the Pursed Lip Breathing exercise and 18 respondents to the Diaphragm Breathing exercise. The results showed that the results of the two different tests on average showed that there were significant differences before and after treatment in increasing forced vital capacity (FVC) and first second expiratory volume (VEF1) with Pursed Lip Breathing in post-covid-19 patients at Aji Hospital Muhammmad Parikesit Tenggarong and the results of the two different tests on average showed that there were significant differences before and after treatment in increasing forced vital capacity (FVC) and first second expiratory volume (VEF1) with Diaphragm Breathing in post-covid-19 patients at Aji Muhammad Parikesit Tenggarong Hospital.

Abstract

A urinary tract infection is an infection of the urinary tract both upper and or lower, where the number of bacteria is greater than 10⁵ bacterial colonies per unit per ml in a urine specimen. Several studies have shown that there are risk factors that can cause urinary tract infections such as age, gender, long lying down, and other predisposing factors. Objective: To identify the factors that influence the occurrence of urinary tract infections in H. Adam Malik Hospital Medan. Method: This study was designed cross-sectional approach. 59 patients were applied in this study using consecutive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using chi-square and Fisher. Results: the results showed that there was no relationship (p>0.05) among age (p=0.869; OR=0.9), gender (p=0.812; OR=1.1), predisposing factors with diabetes mellitus (p=0.146), human immunodeficiency virus (p=0,286), kidney disease (p=0,386), autoimmune (p=0,641) and there were significant relationship (p< 0.05) among prolonged lying down (p=0.04; OR=3,1) were the most significant factor related to urinary tract infection without urinary catheter. Conclusions: the results showed that there was no relationship among age, gender, or predisposing factors such as diabetes mellitus, human immunodeficiency virus, kidney disease, or autoimmune disease with the incidence of urinary tract infection. Long lying down is a relationship with urinary tract infection.

Abstract

Anxiety disorders in pregnant women are associated with risks such as placental abruption, low birth weight, delayed motor and mental development of the fetus, and premature birth if not properly managed and prolonged. Anxiety in third-trimester pregnancy can be minimized using non-pharmacological interventions such as prenatal yoga, relaxation music, and aromatherapy. This study aimed to determine the effect of a combination of prenatal yoga, relaxation music, and agarwood aromatherapy on anxiety in third-trimester pregnant women at Karang Rejo Health Center. This quantitative study uses a quasi-experimental design without a control group and uses pretest and post-test measurements. The intervention group received a combination of prenatal yoga, relaxation music, and agarwood aromatherapy. Purposive sampling was used following inclusion criteria, with a total of 25 respondents. Data collection was conducted using the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) questionnaire. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the non-parametric Wilcoxon test. The results showed that the anxiety levels of third-trimester pregnant women before and after the intervention had a P value of 0.000 (P value < 0.005). This indicates that the combination of prenatal yoga, relaxation music, and agarwood/ Gaharu aromatherapy can be an effective alternative for reducing anxiety in third-trimester pregnant women.

Abstract

Complementary feeding is one of the top measures in Nigeria to reduce malnutrition. However, there is consistent evidence of poor practice in Nigeria. This study aims to evaluate how nursing mothers in Nigeria perceive complementary feeding and understand how their perceptions influence their complementary feeding practices. The study involved four sessions of Focus Group Discussions with a total of 31 participants. The findings revealed that mothers introduced complementary feeding early because they believed that breast milk alone was insufficient before the age of 6 months. Some mothers also perceived that non-infant cereals and milk were better than their infant counterparts, claiming that they aid weight gain. Additionally, some healthy foods were avoided due to myths, and local herbs, commonly known as agbo, were given to some children. To ensure that the World Health Organization guidelines on complementary feeding are accepted in Nigeria, policymakers need to target all those involved in caregiving for the child in the Nigerian setting. This includes health workers, mothers, fathers, and grandmothers.
