Adolescents are at risk and need serious attention, especially in sexuality in the development of adolescent life. Premarital sexual in Indonesia from time to time is very worrying. Nowadays teens consider premarital sexual as a normal and normal thing to do. Adolescent attitudes affect the behavior carried out.This study reveals the relationship of self-control with attitudes toward premarital sexual initiation of adolescence. This study uses the correlational method and data collected from a sample of 277 students, which were found using proportional random sampling techniques. Data were collected using a self-control scale (23 valid items, = 0.876), and a scale of adolescent attitudes about pre-wedding sexual behavior (25 valid items = 0.913). Data were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods, because to describe the object studied through the sample as it is. The results show that there is a negative and significant relationship between self-control and attitudes towards premarital sexual initiation of adolescence. It can be concluded that the higher the self control of students eating the lower the attitude of students towards premarital sexual initiation of adolescence.

Academic anxiety experienced by students in the teaching and learning process in schools often inhibits learning achievement optimally even though various counseling, students should be able to develop the potential within themselves without worrying, but here there are many students who cannot explore the potential within themselves so that academic anxiety occurs. for that we need a group guidance service using the bibliotherapy method. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of group guidance services through bibliotherapy to reduce students' academic anxiety. The research methodology used was quasi experiment. The subjects of this study were 8 grade students of MTsN 6 & MTsN 2 Padang with 10 subjects in the experimental group and 10 in the control group. The research instrument used instrument of academic anxiety. The results showed that there were significant differences in the academic anxiety of the experimental group before (pretest) and after (posttest) taking group guidance services with bibliotherapy and could not have a significant difference in the control group's academic anxiety before (pretest) and after (posttest). The implications of this study are as a basis for counselors to reduce students' academic anxiety.

Resilience by disaster need to be grown in individual’s self in order that does not become problem in the development of individual to become a better person. Many factors affect resilience, including gender, cultural background and attachment of parents. This study aims to test the relevancy of resilience with several factors. This research uses quantitative approach with comparative descriptive method. The population is 912 students with a sample amounts 278 students with using Proportional Random Sampling. The instrument used is Likert scale model. Data were analyzed by three way ANOVA technique. The results showed that gender and attachment of parents affect individual’s resilience while culture significantly has no relevance resilience. The implications of this research will be discussed.

One of the roles of BK Counselors in schools is to assist students to become independent and optimally developed in various fields such as social interaction. It is greatly influenced by assertive behavior. The research determines the assertive behavior in men and women using Minangkabau and Batak cultures as a case study. The sample used in this study was 413 which comprises of191 Minangkabau students and 222 Batak students selected by the cluster random sampling technique. Therefore, the instrument used in this study is the scale of assertive behavior with a reliability level of 0.930. The findings of the research show a medium attribute with significant differences in both cultures. Therefore, it is recommended that counselors make use of structuring techniques, while explaining the principle of confidentiality and openness to students.

This research aims to describe the contribution of emotional maturity and social support to self-adjustment of santri in Pesantren. This research used descriptive quantitative method. The population of this research was 2,695 santri of the 1st grade in Musthafawiyah Purbabaru Islamic Boarding School. The sample were 349 santri and selected by proportional random sampling. The research findings showed: (1) on average, emotional maturity is in the high level category, (2) social support is also at a high level, (3) the self-adjustment of santri is good category, (4) contribution of emotional maturity towards self-adjustment is 44.3%, (5) contributions of social support toward the self-adjustment is 25.9%, and (6) contributions of emotional maturity and social support to the self-adjustment is 48.3%.

This research aims to evaluate an education and training program in a government institution, specifically in PNT Education and Training Program of Bauxite Ore in West Borneo which is conducted every year by Pusdiklat MINERBA Bandung, Indonesia. The research purpose is to describe the effectiveness of the existing education and training program (Diklat) so that it could be improved to complete the implementation of similar programs in the future. Specifically, this research focused on measuring level of effectiveness from three aspects, which includes the reaction, learning, and potential behavioural changes aspect. The data was collected by using quantitative approach with descriptive evaluative method. There were 15 participants involved in this research. The result showed that the reaction level of participant toward the Diklat program was quite effective (63.39%). This aspect has a quite significant achievement in that there was a positive attitude of most of the participants in implementing the result of the program in workplace. Learning level of the participant increased with x ̅= 0.42 based on the pre-test and post-test result, while the measurement of potential behaviour changes level showed that the average score of participants' belief could be classified into high level (74%). In conclusion, the program had been conducted well and could be classified into effective level category.

This study aims to determine the effect of mind-mapping to enhance high school’s student career exploration in guidance group setting. This study use a single subject design with multiple baseline across subject models. The subjects of this study are eight (8) high school students in 10th grade. The data collection instruments in this study are the recording frequency of career exploration (sub components narrowing choices, specifies a vocational choice, and deciding an action implementation), career exploration skill instruments, and treatment instruments in the form of career guidance group guidebooks. The results shows that mind-mapping can be implemented to enhance the students career exploration skill, that is the all subjects’ first sub component exploration skills (narrowing choices) in group data shows average baseline 13.27 increased to 30.86; the second sub component (specifies a vocational choice) shows average baseline 9.67 increased to 22.18; and the third sub component (deciding an action implementation) shows average baseline 13.42 increased to 20.26. The results affirm that the use of mind-mapping is effective to enhance the exploration skills of high school students.

School culture becomes one of the determinants formed of students work culture. The lack of attention of school culture has an adverse effect on the character building of students to the low productivity and effectiveness of the school. The aim of the research was to obtain data and information about school culture development in vocational high school. The research employed qualitative research. This research was done in Vocational High School (SMK) Negeri 9 Padang which is one of the favorite vocational high school with all accredited skills program A. Subjects in this research were principal, head majors, teachers, employees, and pupils. Data in this research was collected by using observation, interview, and documentation study. Data were analyzed through three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this study describe the culture of SMK Negeri 9 Padang seen from: (1) behavior; (2) norms; (3) dominant values; (4) philosophy; (5) rules; (6) school climate. The culture has been developing are hospitality culture and work above standard.

Incorrect understanding of the dangers of drug abuse makes adolescents underestimate the dangers of drug abuse. Most drug users in adolescence, because adolescents have unstable and easily influenced characteristics and great curiosity. Drug use by adolescents in the early stages is trying to the stage of addiction. The purpose of this study is to look at the effectiveness of cognitive restructuring techniques in increasing understanding of the dangers of student drug abuse. This study uses in the form of a pseudo experimental design of The Non-Equivalent Control Group with pretest and posttest. The subjects of the study were students of class X TKR at SMK Muhammadiyah 1 Padang with a sample of 20 people divided into 2 groups consisting of 10 people as the experimental group and 10 people as the control group. The sampling technique with purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed using Wilcoxon signed ranks test and Kolmogorov Smirnov two independent samples. The results of this study, concluded that cognitive restructuring techniques are effective in increasing understanding of the dangers of student drug abuse.

Underlying this present study was the importance of increasing the learning motivation of students who were expelled from previous schools. Self-concept and parental support were considered as the factors affecting learning motivation of the students who were expelled from previous schools. The aimed of this study was to reveal the contribution of self-concept and parental support towards the learning motivation of the students who were expelled from their previous schools. This study used a descriptive correlation-quantitative method. The population of the study were the 11th and 12th grade students in Sungai Penuh City, which numbered 2666 in total. The samples of the study were 62 students, taken by purposive sampling technique, namely students who were expelled from the previous schools. The instrument used was a Likert scale. The research findings showed that self-concept and parental support respectively and simultaneously had a significant contribution to the learning motivation of the students who were expelled from their previous school.
