Abstract

This article aims to design instructional materials for teaching manṣūbāt al-asmā' based on the Pyramid Theory at the MA level. The method employed is descriptive-analytical, using a library research approach and drawing on classical nahwu texts and contemporary Arabic language education literature. The data comprise primary sources (the classical nahwu texts Jāmi' al-Durūs al-'Arabiyyah, Al-Ājurrūmiyyah, al-Imriṭī, and Alfiyyah Ibn Mālik) and secondary sources (educational theory literature and journal articles published between 2021 and 2026). The journal articles were retrieved from Google Scholar, DOAJ, and Sinta-indexed Arabic-education journals. Data were collected through four stages: source identification, classification, analysis, synthesis, and instructional design development, and analyzed using source triangulation, whereby every component of the design is verified against at least three mutually reinforcing references. The findings show that the fourteen functions can be organized into three pyramid layers: the base layer (maf'ūl bih, maf'ūl muṭlaq, maf'ūl lahu, maf'ūl fīh, maf'ūl ma'ah), the middle layer (al-ḥāl, tamyīz, al-mustatsnā, al-munādā), and the top layer (khabar fi'l nāqiṣ, khabar aḥruf, ism inna, ism lā al-nāfiyah li al-jins, al-tābi' li al-manṣūb). This design is grounded in constructivism, Bloom's Taxonomy, and the principle of al-tadrīj, and is complemented by structured learning steps, learning techniques that vary by layer, and a system of formative and summative evaluation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze thematic progression patterns, assess text coherence, and interpret the potential comprehensibility of reading passages in the Grade 10 Arabic textbook for Senior High School published by the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia in 2020. The study adopted a qualitative approach using a discourse analysis design grounded in the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) framework. The data comprised five reading passages purposively selected from the textbook. Data were collected through document analysis and examined by identifying thematic progression patterns across sentences, evaluating the level of coherence, and interpreting the potential comprehensibility of the texts. The analysis identified 75 thematic progression relations, with Constant Progression at 57.33% and Split Rheme Progression at 20% the most prevalent. According to the results, three of the texts classified as Good showed a more consistent flow of information and were deemed to have a higher probability of cohering, while the two classified as Fair displayed patterns of thematic progression that were more varied, probably making it necessary for readers to put in greater inferential effort to establish connections across sentences. The findings suggest that thematic progression patterns should be considered when developing and evaluating Arabic reading materials to enhance text coherence and support students' reading comprehension.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the objectives of the Hindu presence in the Arab Gulf and the broader Islamic world from a historical, analytical, and doctrinally critical perspective. Specifically, it investigates the historical roots of this presence, analyzes the political, economic, and cultural factors that have contributed to its expansion, explores the doctrinal foundations of Hinduism and their implications for Islamic societies, and evaluates their impact on religious identity and value systems. The research employs a qualitative approach using historical and analytical methods supported by doctrinal criticism based on the Islamic theological framework. Data were collected through documentary research from books, scholarly articles, historical records, and relevant academic sources, and were analyzed using qualitative content analysis. The findings indicate that the contemporary Hindu presence in the Arab Gulf and the Islamic world has evolved beyond its traditional socio-economic function into a broader cultural and religious phenomenon. Rather than relying on direct proselytization, its influence is increasingly manifested through cultural representation, spiritual practices, economic networks, and soft power, thereby contributing to the gradual normalization of Hindu symbols and values within public spaces. The study further reveals that several philosophical concepts associated with Hinduism, when detached from their original religious context and presented as universal cultural or wellness practices, may generate doctrinal challenges for Muslim societies by affecting perceptions of monotheism, religious exclusivity, and Islamic identity. The study concludes that maintaining a balanced approach between peaceful coexistence and doctrinal integrity requires strengthening critical theological awareness, enhancing religious literacy, and developing scholarly approaches capable of addressing contemporary cross-cultural and interreligious interactions while preserving the religious and cultural identity of Muslim communities.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of digital transformation and emerging technologies in the development and implementation of professional and entrepreneurial projects within higher education institutions, with particular emphasis on the experiences of Arab and African universities. Specifically, the research investigates how digital technologies—including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud Computing, and digital platforms—facilitate the transformation of academic research and innovative ideas into sustainable entrepreneurial ventures. It also analyzes the effectiveness of digital business incubators and institutional innovation ecosystems in promoting entrepreneurship and strengthening university–industry collaboration. The study employs a qualitative approach using descriptive-analytical and comparative methods. Data were collected through document analysis of academic publications, policy reports, institutional documents, and case studies from selected Arab and African universities. The collected data were analyzed through thematic content analysis to identify patterns, best practices, challenges, and strategic differences across the two regional contexts. The findings demonstrate that digital transformation has significantly enhanced universities' capacity to convert research outputs into market-oriented innovations by improving entrepreneurial ecosystems, facilitating technology transfer, and strengthening collaboration with industry and government stakeholders. The study also reveals that although Arab and African universities have made considerable progress in adopting digital entrepreneurship initiatives, they continue to face common challenges related to digital infrastructure, financial sustainability, technological readiness, institutional capacity, and digital competencies. Nevertheless, several universities have established successful models of innovation and entrepreneurship through digital incubators, technology parks, and AI-supported entrepreneurial programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between transfixation and i‘lāl in the formation of Arabic weak verbs by examining the transformation from underlying forms to surface forms. This study employed qualitative content analysis using morphological and morphophonemic approaches. The data were collected from the first episode of Saladin: The Animated Series through non-participatory observation and note-taking techniques. Data analysis involved identifying roots, determining wazan, applying transfixation, reconstructing underlying forms, and analyzing i‘lāl to produce surface forms. The study identified 260 verb tokens, from which 127 verb patterns were selected as research data, consisting of 80 strong verbs and 47 weak verbs. The findings reveal that transfixation alone is sufficient to generate the correct forms of strong verbs, whereas weak verbs require i‘lāl to transform underlying forms into acceptable surface forms. These findings demonstrate that transfixation and i‘lāl constitute complementary and sequential processes within Arabic internal modification. This study contributes to Arabic morphological theory by integrating roots, wazan, transfixation, underlying forms, i‘lāl, and surface forms into a unified analytical framework for explaining weak verb formation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the changes in rhythm and rhyme, as well as educational values, in Ahmad Shawqi’s kasidah al-’ilmu wa at-ta‘līm wa wājibu al-mu‘allim using a qualitative approach and descriptive-analytical methods. Data collection employed a literature review focused on the primary source, namely al-’ilmu wa at-ta‘līm wa wājibu al-mu‘allim by Aḥmad Šauqī in his Aš-Šauqiyyāt, while data analysis techniques included inventory, classification, and interpretation. In terms of rhythm, this kasidah uses the bahr kamil with ‘aruḍ ṣahīhah, maqṭu‘ muḍmar, and muḍmar. Meanwhile, the ḍarb is maqṭu‘‘ and maqṭu‘ muḍmar. As for the hasywu, some are ṣahīh and others are muḍmar. In terms of rhyme, this kasidah lamiyyah produces an analysis of hudud al-qafiyah, huruf al-qafiyah, harakat al-qafiyah, anwa‘ al-qafiyah, and asma’ al-qafiyah, with no ‘uyub al-qafiyah found, making it beautiful and highly musical. The educational values in this kasidah include respect for teachers, tawhid, ibadah, the use of educational resources, the cultivation of the soul and character, scientific integrity, the chain of generations of educators, education based on justice, the heavy burden of teachers, the role of women in education, tawakal, and ikhtiar. This study indicates that prosody is not just for entertainment; it also includes rhythm and rhyme that convey musicality and can serve as a medium for communicating educational values.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the effect of using training and alternating methods on developing the forehand and backhand groundstrokes in tennis. The experimental method was used due to its suitability to the nature of the research. This research was conducted on a sample of (20) female volunteers at the Duhok Sports Club Tennis Academy, aged (10-12) years. They were divided into two experimental groups: The first experimental group, consisting of (10) players, used the training method to develop their forehand and backhand skills, while the second experimental group used the alternating method to develop their forehand and backhand skills in tennis. The training program lasted (6) weeks, with an average of two training sessions of (90) minutes each. The program included (24) training sessions, of which (12) were using the training method and (12) were using the alternating method. In the reciprocal training method, certain variables (age, height, weight) were controlled, and the participants' forehand and backhand groundstrokes were tested. The training program was then implemented, followed by a post-test. Data were collected and statistically analyzed, leading the researcher to conclude the following: 1- Both the reciprocal and training methods had a positive impact on developing the forehand and backhand groundstrokes in tennis. 2- The results of the first group, which used the reciprocal training method, were superior to those of the second experimental group, which used the reciprocal method, in developing the forehand and backhand groundstrokes in tennis. Therefore, the researcher recommends: 1-Using the reciprocal training method due to its clear positive impact on developing the forehand and backhand groundstrokes in tennis.

Abstract

This study examines the semantic structure of the Qur’anic root m-l-k (ملك) using a lexical-semantic approach. The root appears in numerous derivational forms throughout the Qur’an and is associated with concepts such as ownership, authority, kingship, sovereignty, and dominion. This study aims to identify the meanings of m-l-k and its derivations, analyze their contextual usage, and explain the semantic relations that construct the Qur’anic concept of authority and sovereignty. Employing a qualitative library research design, the study uses all Qur’anic occurrences of the root m-l-k as its research data, comprising 117 instances distributed across 21 derivational forms identified in Al-Mu‘jam al-Mufahras li Alfāẓ al-Qur’ān. These data were analyzed using a lexical-semantic framework informed by classical Arabic lexicons and contextual interpretation, with particular attention to polysemy, semantic field relations, and semantic hierarchy. The findings reveal a progressive semantic expansion from ordinary ownership (mālik) to political authority (malik), institutional sovereignty (mulk), and metaphysical dominion (malakūt). The analysis also demonstrates that the derivations form a hierarchical semantic system in which human ownership and political authority are portrayed as limited and temporary, whereas absolute sovereignty belongs exclusively to Allah. Furthermore, the study confirms that the meanings of the derivations are determined by the interaction of morphology, context, and discourse, producing an integrated semantic network encompassing theological, political, social, and metaphysical dimensions. This study contributes to Qur’anic lexical semantics by providing a comprehensive analysis of the semantic relationships among all derivational forms of the root m-l-k within a unified analytical framework.

Abstract

This study analyzes the internal conflicts and defense mechanisms of Ikrimah ibn Abu Jahal through the lens of Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic framework. Employing a qualitative descriptive-analytical approach that utilizes content analysis and the "showing" method, this library research examines seven dialogue sequences across three scenes, following a four-stage process: data identification, classification of internal conflicts and defense mechanisms, theoretical interpretation, and conclusion. Data collection techniques use documentation techniques which are carried out by collecting, recording and reviewing written sources that are relevant to the research topic. The findings reveal that Ikrimah’s internal conflict is multilayered and progressive, manifesting in three distinct phases: (1) the conflict between upholding and surrendering honor in Scene One; (2) the conflict between recognizing and accepting the truth of Muhammad’s prophethood in Scene Two; and (3) the conflict between the burden of his former identity and the emergence of a new identity in Scene Four. To navigate these dilemmas, Ikrimah employs several defense mechanisms: (1) displacement, in which psychic conflict is redirected into physical flight; (2) rationalization, wherein he constructs justifications to conceal his perceived inadequacy and shame; (3) denial, through which he rejects the reality of Muhammad’s prophethood; and (4) repression, the most foundational mechanism, evidenced by his suppression of his underlying belief in the truth of the prophethood.
