Abstract

This study aims to determine local wisdom in rice farming activities in Pampang Cultural Village, North Samarinda Sub-district, Samarinda City. This research was conducted in Pampang Cultural Village, North Samarinda Sub-district, Samarinda City, from June to August 2022. Respondents were determined using the purposive sampling method by determining key informants, such as traditional heads and community leaders, totaling 10 people. This data collection is carried out by observation and interviews. The data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results of this study show that local wisdom in Pampang Cultural Village is still maintained, such as the celebration of harvest festival (Pelas Tahun), which is always held every year. However, there are some traditions that have been abandoned such as traditional activities before Nugal (Maraq Ngavan Ingaan) which were replaced by joint prayer events in their respective places of worship, transfer of land functions and the entry of the government's role in the development of rice farming through the formationof farmer groups fostered by Field Agricultural Extension Officers (PPL) under the auspices of the Agricultural Extension Center (BPP) and the Agriculture Office of Samarinda city.

Abstract

Oyster mushroom cultivation by Women Farmers Groups (KWT) in Condongcatur Village has great potential in supporting urban food security, but still faces production efficiency issues. This study aims to analyze the efficiency scores of mushroom farming and their relationship with KWT characteristics, including: age, education, leadership, business facilities, and use of the Internet of Things (IoT). The research method used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) with an output-oriented Variable Returns to Scale (VRS) model on 12 KWTs, accompanied by descriptive and correlation analysis with 35 respondents. The results showed that six KWTs had achieved optimal efficiency scores, while the other six KWTs were still inefficient. The correlation analysis showed that leadership and business facilities had a positive and significant (moderate) relationship, while the use of IoT had a positive and significant (strong) relationship to the efficiency score of oyster mushroom farming. This study provides recommendations for the need for extension regarding the use of IoT in KWTs that have not implemented it by looking at KWTs that have implemented it.

Abstract

Utilization of Home Gardens with Sweet Potato Cultivation to Enhance Food Security and Household Income. Food shortages have led to rising food prices in the market. In response, the government has designated sweet potatoes as a local food crop in East Nusa Tenggara to address Indonesia’s food supply issues. This study aims to determine the productivity of households in growing sweet potatoes and to identify suitable planting methods for yard areas as a means of improving household economics. Data collection was carried out using secondary data from the East Nusa Tenggara Agricultural Statistics Agency. The descriptive process involved understanding the data conditions and explaining them through both numerical and verbal descriptions of the collected variables. The results showed that the highest growth percentage using the single planting method (monoculture) was in Manggarai Regency, while the highest percentage of growth using the mixed planting method (polyculture) was found in East Nusa Tenggara, specifically in South Timor Tengah Regency. Planting crops using the intercropping method can increase the productivity of a variety of crops to be cultivated, as well as help maintain food stability within households.

Abstract

The principle of sustainable management of natural resources is equality. Equality comes not only from the roles of different interest groups but also from gender equality. This research aims to analyze the impact of developing tourist villages on gender equality. The basic method in this research is qualitative, using a case study approach. The gender analysis model used in this research is the Gender Analysis Matrix (GAM). The research location was selected purposively, and informants were selected using purposive sampling and snowball sampling. Research data was obtained by interviews, observation and documentation. Data analysis was carried out by means of data reduction, data presentation, data interpretation, and conclusions drawing. The validity of the data used is triangulation of sources and techniques. The results of this research show that men and women have their respective roles in the aspects of labor, time, resources and social culture. The development of tourism villages has not achieved gender equality because women’s positions are still weak in community institutions. There is a need for public awareness to improve institutions, so that men and women obtain equal positions in deliberations and management of the institution itself.

Abstract

The development of farming business is inseparable from the existence of effective and efficient farm business management. Farm business management is the ability of farmers to plan, organize, direct, coordinate and supervise the factors of production that are controlled or owned so that they can provide production as expected. The success of farming in the agricultural sector is undeniably largely determined by social capital. This study aims to determine the characteristics of social capital among members of the young farmer group, knowing the development of horticultural businesses contained in members of the young farmer group and analyzing the relationship between social capital and the business development of members of the young farmer group. This research uses quantitative methods. This research was supervised and funded by Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM)/Independent Learning-Independent Campus Research, which is located in Berjo Village, Ngargoyoso, Karanganyar. The regional election was carried out deliberately based on information obtained by research supporting data that showed that there were 2 groups of young farmers who had been active in business development in the agricultural sector since 2019. The sampling technique used was a saturated sampling of 27 young farmers. The results showed that cooperation and participation have a significant relationship with business development. Meanwhile, trust and networks have no significant relationship with the development of farming businesses.

Abstract

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs are an effective strategy for empowering farmers, particularly in the horticultural sector. In practice, few CSR programs focus on farmer empowerment, underscoring the need for a study on how community-oriented CSR programs can synergize with a company's business objectives. This study aims to examine the process and impact of empowering paprika farmers through Pizza Hut Indonesia's CSR program within the Tunas Tani Pangrango Farmers Group in Bogor. The study was conducted from August 2024 to May 2025. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were collected through interviews with 13 informants, observation, and documentation. The results show that the empowerment process involves strategy identification, group development, participatory planning, activity implementation, and joint monitoring and evaluation. The program has had a positive impact on farmers' productivity, income, technical capacity, and market access. Socially, institutional strengthening and collective learning among farmers have occurred. However, challenges remain in the environmental aspect, particularly the use of chemical pesticides. It can be concluded that Pizza Hut Indonesia's CSR program increases farmer empowerment and encourages independent farming businesses, but it should pay greater attention to environmental sustainability by using environmentally friendly inputs and adopting sustainable cultivation technologies. This study found: (1) integration of extension, training, research, and supporting subsystems (agricultural facilities and markets) in Pizza Hut Indonesia's CSR program in Agricultural Knowledge and Information Systems; and (2) empirical evidence that with a community empowerment approach, CSR program obligations are able to synergize with the company's business mission.
