Abstract

Indonesian farmers used to utilize crank to turn on hand tractor machine till today. It may make operators weariness and potentially raised work accident. The purpose of this study was to design a portable electric starter for hand tractor machine. Moreover, the study was addressed to evaluate the performance of the design. The minimum rotational speed (n) and initial torque (T) in decompression and non decompression conditions were adopted to calculate the minimum power (P) requirement. The minumum power of decompression and non decompression were 572.78 watts (≈ 0.74 hp) and 841.75 watts (≈ 1.09 hp), respectively. These values used as a reference in determining the main components, namely the wet type 12 volt battery and the serial type direct current starter motor. The next step, set up additional components, transmission mechanism, as well as concept of portable electric starter. The design was realized by construction and assembly process. A performance test was carried out on the prototype. The performance test of non decompression showed 1.88 seconds for working time, 264.56 Joules for workload (operator), 363.20 rpm for rotating speed and 0.68 watt hours for power requirement. Overall, application portable electric starter indicated better performance than crank. This study proved a high preference of operator on application of portable electric starter in decompression conditions.

Abstract

Proses yang ingin dihindari ketika akan mengoperasikan traktor tangan adalah pada saat melakukan starting menggunakan engkol tangan untuk menghidupkan mesinnya karena dianggap melelahkan bagi operator, apalagi ketika tidak langsung berhasil dan harus diluang berkali-kali. Penelitian analisis input energi minimal untuk menghidupkan mesin traktor tangan bertujuan membantu menganalisis besaran nilai energi yang dibutuhkan pada setiap kali proses starting melalui penggunaan rumus energi kinetik (EK) pada komponen roda gila (flywheel). Hasil analisis nilai input energi minimal untuk menghidupkan mesin traktor tangan dengan mesin diesel yang memiliki daya maksimal 8,5 hp diperoleh sebesar 353,82 joule (≈ 0,098 watt-jam). Nilai tersebut diperoleh berdasarkan dari nilai kecepatan putar dan berat/massa pada komponen roda gila (flywheel) melalui pengukuran lapangan. Nilai kecepatan putar roda gila (flywheel) yang digunakan adalah nilai yang paling rendah (nmin) dari beberapa percobaan, yaitu sebesar 359,61 rpm yang diukur menggunakan tachometer, sedangkan berat/massa roda gila (flywheel) yang digunakan sebesar 30 kg.

Abstract

Penurunan produksi padi di Jawa Tengah dalam tiga tahun terakhir menjadi tantangan dalam mewujudkan ketahanan pangan nasional. Penggunaan alat dan mesin pertanian (alsintan) dinilai sebagai salah satu solusi strategis untuk meningkatkan produktivitas dan efisiensi usaha tani. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis persepsi petani terhadap manfaat penggunaan alsintan pada budidaya padi di Desa Wonorejo, Kecamatan Polokarto, Kabupaten Sukoharjo. Penelitian dilakukan terhadap 45 responden anggota Kelompok Tani Tani Asli yang dipilih melalui teknik purposive sampling. Metode analisis yang digunakan adalah skala Likert dan regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi petani terhadap manfaat alsintan tergolong tinggi, terutama dalam hal efisiensi waktu dan biaya (82,6%), peningkatan hasil produksi (79,7%), serta peningkatan pendapatan dan taraf hidup (80%). Secara statistik, variabel umur, pendidikan formal, pendidikan non formal, pengalaman bertani, dan luas lahan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap persepsi petani. Sementara itu, pengalaman menggunakan alsintan tidak berpengaruh signifikan. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik sosial dan pengalaman petani turut membentuk pandangan mereka terhadap teknologi pertanian. Hasil penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi acuan dalam pengembangan kebijakan pertanian berbasis mekanisasi yang tepat sasaran.

Abstract

Pembangunan sektor pertain pertanian menjadi hal penting bagi negara serta menjadi sumber mata pencaharian pada sebagian besar masyarakat Indonesia. Salah satu jenis pupuk yang paling umum digunakan petani adalah pupuk NPK, yang meskipun efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil pertanian namun memiliki dampak negatif terhadap lingkungan jika tidak digunakan secara berimbang dalam jangka panjang. Di sisi lain, peningkatan produksi whey semakin meningkat dan berisiko menyebabkan pencemaran. Namun kandungan yang dimiliki whey kaya akan protein, laktosa, mineral, dan asam amino yang menjadi unsur utama dalam perkembangan dan pertumbuhan tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh faktor internal dan eksternal terhadap persepsi petani mengenai pemanfaatan whey pada tanaman hortikultura. Penelitian dilakukan di Dusun Cancangan, Kalurahan Wukirsari, Kapanewon Cangkringan, Sleman, DIY, dengan pendekatan kuantitatif menggunakan metode survei melalui kuesioner. Sampel ditentukan secara jenuh terhadap 30 petani hortikultura yang telah mengikuti sekolah lapang pemanfaatan whey. Analisis data dalam penelitian menggunakan dua teknik analisis yaitu analisis deskritpif dan analisis regresi linear berganda. Kesimpulan ini menunjukkan bahwa pemanfaatan whey sebagai pupuk organik tidak hanya bermanfaat untuk lingkungan, tetapi juga dapat meningkatkan keberlanjutan ekonomi petani hortikultura. Hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi dasar bagi kebijakan yang mendorong penggunaan pupuk organik di sektor pertanian hortikultura, serta pengurangan ketergantungan pada pupuk kimia.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the adoption rate of liquid organic fertilizer (POC) made from rabbit urine by rice farmers in Sorogedug Hamlet, Madurejo Village, Prambanan Sub-district, Sleman Regency. Through a quantitative descriptive approach, this activity involved 32 farmer members of the farmer group who were the targets of educational interventions in the form of counseling, training, and field demonstrations. The results of the activity showed that the majority of farmers had reached a high level of awareness and interest in the use of POC, although some were still in the trial stage and had not fully adopted it routinely. Factors such as age, formal education, farming experience, land area, and number of family members contributed to variations in the adoption rate. This activity concluded that to encourage the sustainable use of POC, a farmer group-based approach, facilitation of tools and raw materials, and strengthening of adaptive and participatory technical assistance were needed.

Abstract

Penerapan sistem irigasi otomatis dengan perlakuan berbagai media tanam dan kelembaban tanah terhadap produksi benih melon (Cucumis melo L.) dalam greenhouse. Tujuan dari penelitian ini mengetahui pengaruh berbagai campuran media tanam dan berbagai tingkat kelembaban dalam penerapan sistem irigasi otomatis berdasarkan sensor kelembaban serta mencari perlakuan yang optimal. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan petak terbagi dengan petak utama media tanam yaitu campuran tanah dengan arang sekam dan campuran tanah dengan cocopeat. Anak petak yaitu kelembaban tanah 50% dan 70%. Hasil penelitian menunjukan penggunaan air pada media tanam campuran tanah dengan arang sekam lebih tinggi, media tanam juga berpengaruh pada berat buah melon tetapi tidak berpengaruh pada berat biji, berat 1000 butir dan Produktivitas benih. Kelembaban tanah dengan taraf 70% memerlukan air yang lebih banyak guna memenuhi kelembaban yang ditetapkan kelembaban tanah juga berpengaruh pada berat buah melon tetapi tidak berpengaruh pada berat biji, berat 1000 butir dan Produktivitas benih. Campuran media tanam campuran tanah dan arang sekam dengan tingkat kelembaban 70% memberikan pengaruh yang baik pada produksi benih melon.

Abstract

Shopee serves as a vital digital marketplace for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) like PT Mount Vera Sejati, facilitating the online promotion of their Nata De Aloe Vera products. However, the intense competition from numerous similar products poses significant marketing challenges. This study aims to examine the implementation of Shopee’s promotional features on PT Mount Vera Sejati’s account and analyze the impact of each feature on sales performance. The features investigated include Free Shipping, Vouchers, Discounts, Flash Sales, Product Search Ads, and Similar Product Ads. Utilizing a quantitative descriptive methodology, data were collected from daily sales records between December 2024 and March 2025, complemented by observations and interviews with the business owner. The analysis reveals that Free Shipping, Discounts, and Vouchers are the most effective promotional tools, collectively facilitating the sale of 72 units during the 58-day observation period. Specifically, Free Shipping accounted for 70 sales, Discounts for 38 sales, and Vouchers for 72 sales. In contrast, Flash Sales and product advertisements showed limited effectiveness. These findings highlight the necessity for PT Mount Vera Sejati to prioritize and optimize the use of Free Shipping, Vouchers, and Discounts to enhance sales growth on Shopee, thereby improving their competitive position in the e-commerce landscape.

Abstract

UMKM have a strategic role in the national economy, but the competitiveness of their products is still weak due to unattractive packaging that does not meet standards. This study aims to modify the packaging of Ginger Honey Powder Drink products at P4S X Kulon Progo Regency to make them more functional and visually attractive. The method used is mixed methods with a quasi-experimental design in the form of a pre-test and post-test without a control group. Data collection techniques include interviews, FGDs, observations, and questionnaires to 50 consumers. The results show that the use of ziplock packaging improves consumer perceptions in terms of visual aspects, functionality, and overall satisfaction. The average perception score increased significantly after the packaging modification was carried out. This study emphasizes the importance of packaging innovation based on consumer preferences as a strategy to increase the selling value of UMKM products.

Abstract

This study explores the use of embryo culture as a strategic approach to rescue maize (Zea mays L.) embryos derived from interspecific crosses that fail to develop normally. Not all crosses result in viable seeds; in many cases, embryos remain immature or undergo developmental arrest, which increases the risk of embryo abortion before they can develop into complete plants. Embryo development failure in maize crosses, especially in combinations involving genetically distant genotypes, represents a major constraint in plant breeding programs. Without appropriate intervention, the resulting hybrid genotypes may be lost and consequently slow down the development of new superior varieties. To address this limitation, immature embryo culture represents an effective in vitro technique. Embryo culture involves the excision of young or incompletely developed plant embryos from seeds or ovaries and their subsequent cultivation on nutrient-rich artificial media to support further growth and plant regeneration. The objective of this study was to identify the optimal Murashige and Skoog (MS)-based culture medium composition for immature maize embryo growth using a factorial completely randomized design with three replications. Treatments consisted of combinations of agar concentration (4, 6, 8, and 10 g L⁻¹) and medium strength (0.5 MS, 0.75 MS, and 1 MS). The results indicated no significant interaction between MS medium strength and agar concentration. 1 MS medium produced the best results for shoot height, root length, and root number, whereas 0.75 MS medium resulted in the highest germination percentage. No significant differences were observed among treatments for days to germination and leaf number. An agar concentration of 6 g L⁻¹ yielded the highest germination percentage and shoot height, while other variables were not significantly affected by agar concentration. In conclusion, 1 MS medium or an agar concentration of 6 g L⁻¹ can be recommended for the culture of immature maize embryos

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effects of pruning at different crop ages on the physical, physiological, and biochemical quality of rice seeds, as well as to identify seed responses to variations in pruning timing. The experiment was conducted using a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design on the rice variety Inpari 32. Four pruning treatments were applied, namely no pruning (P0), pruning at 25 days after transplanting (DAT) (P1), 35 DAT (P2), and 45 DAT (P3), with three replications for each treatment. Observations focused on physical seed quality parameters, including moisture content, seed purity, and 1000-seed weight, as well as physiological seed quality parameters, namely germination percentage, vigor index, growth rate, rapid emergence (RE), percentage of normal seedlings, percentage of non-emerged fresh weight, and seed biochemical composition (total sugars, starch, and carbohydrates). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a 5% significance level, followed by Duncan’s Multiple Range Test. The results revealed that pruning treatments did not significantly affect moisture content, seed purity, growth rate, germination percentage, vigor index, rapid emergence, percentage of abnormal seedlings, non-emerged fresh weight, starch content, or carbohydrate content. However, the highest 1000-seed weight was observed in the non-pruned treatment. In contrast, pruning at 35 DAT resulted in the highest total sugar content compared to other treatments, indicating its potential contribution to improved seed physiological quality. These findings suggest that pruning at an appropriate growth stage may influence specific seed quality attributes, particularly biochemical characteristics.
