Abstract

Research Aims: This study aimed to investigate the impact of talent leadership on attracting and retaining high-value professors at HDHEIs in South Africa. Design/methodology/approach: A qualitative approach was used, with 20 face-to-face interviews and document analysis with academic leaders from five HDHEIs. Thematic analysis used to analyse the collected data. Research Findings: The findings revealed five themes regarding the impact of talent leadership at HDHEIs: empowerment, motivation, engagement, commitment, and competence among professoriate staff at the university. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study demonstrates the significance of talent leadership in providing a sense of belonging, respect, personal growth, and development to the professoriate, all of which are necessary for attracting and retaining high-value professors. Recommendations stemming from the study encompass targeted leadership training programs, the establishment of mentorship initiatives, and the implementation of inclusive and supportive policies. These recommendations are intended to guide HDHEIs in South Africa toward fostering an environment that not only attracts but also retains high-value professors, ultimately contributing to the sustained growth and development of these South African institutions.

Abstract

Research Aims: The applications of composite models in explaining the adoption of innovations continue to gain widespread recognition in contemporary research. This study examines the role of a composite model comprising innovation attributes, contingency factors, and isomorphic pressures in explaining the adoption of activity-based costing (ABC) in Tanzania. The examined causal relationship between the model and ABC adoption is subject to mediation by behavioral preferences. More importantly, this study evaluates the overall fit of the model based on confirmatory composite analysis (CCA) as a prerequisite for path analysis. Design/methodology/approach: Data were collected from 188 manufacturing and service companies in Tanzania using a cross-sectional survey design. As part of CCA, the study employed principal component analysis (PCA) to form the three emergent variables namely innovation attributes, contingency factors and isomorphic pressures. It is these variables that were merged together to form the composite model whose influence on ABC adoption was analyzed based on partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). Research Findings: It was found out that, it is only normative beliefs that positively mediated the causal - relationship between the composite model and ABC adoption. This suggests that, the combined influences of internal and external factors defined by innovation attributes, contingency factors and isomorphic pressures towards ABC adoption is mediated by the belief that manufacturing and service companies should adopt the system. On the other hand, the perceptions of the system’s usefulness and ease to use do not play role in explaining the combined influences of factors on ABC adoption. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: The findings are paramount in creating the reference base for future studies as there were no previous studies of similar nature conducted to assess the impact of the composite model on ABC adoption. Abstract

Research Aims: This study aims to determine the effect of liquidity, leverage, firm size, CEO duality, political connection on financial distresswith profitability as a moderating variable in properties & real estatesector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period2018-2022.Design/methodology/approach: The type of data used is quantitativedata sourced from secondary data. The population in this study areproperties & real estate sector companies listed on the Indonesia StockExchange for the period 2018-2022. The technique used in this sampling ispurposive sampling and 24 companies were obtained as samples in thisstudy. The data were analyzed using logistic regression and moderatedregression analysis (MRA) using modprobe and calculated with SPSSVersion 27 software.Research Findings: The results showed that leverage proxied by debt toasset ratio and political connection has a significant and negative effect onfinancial distress. While liquidity (current ratio), firm size, CEO dualityhas no significant effect on financial distress and profitability proxied byreturn on assets is also unable to moderate the effect of liquidity (currentratio), leverage (debt to asset ratio), firm size, CEO duality, politicalconnection on financial distress. Therefore, properties & real estate sectorcompanies are expected to manage debt effectively and carefully assessrisks and finances. Properties & real estate sector companies must alsoensure that the sustainability of the relationship can be maintained in thelong term to avoid the risks that can arise from political changes to avoidfinancial distress. Keywords: CEO duality; Financial distress; Firm size; Leverage; Liquidity;Political connection; Profitability

Abstract

Research Aims: This research aims to explore green banking disclosure among banks listed on IDX-IC shares in Indonesia. Design/methodology/approach: The method used involves conducting content analysis using indicators from research by Bose et al. (2018) and Handajani (2019). The total number of indicators is 21 items, covering the reporting period of 2019-2022. Research Findings: The research results help explain the development of the quality of disclosure in bank sustainability reports (green banking) in Indonesia, as well as the effectiveness of mandatory sustainability reports in the banking sector. Previously, some people believed that banks' contribution to environmental damage was relatively low. However, research results show that banks are beginning to concentrate on sustainability programs. In 2019, the percentage of disclosure was 50.71%; in 2020, it was 56.19%; in 2021, it was 57.76%; and in 2022, it was 62.74%. Although still relatively low, there has been a notable improvement in the quality of sustainability report information from 2021 to 2022. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This research contributes to the literature related to bank disclosures in their activities supporting the SDGs and discusses the extent to which banks prioritize environmentally friendly banking activities. Keywords: sustainable bank, green banking, content analysis

Abstract

Research Aims: This research aims to design an adequate administration and pocket money internship management system at PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE). Improvisation will be carried out to prevent human error and increase the processing speed of the internship’s pocket money system. Design/methodology/approach: This research is classified as applied research and was carried out using a Business Process Improvement approach. The procedures include need analysis, planning & design, development, and conclusion. The method used to collect data is by interviewing the Human Capital as the user. Secondary documents and activity forms are obtained through documentation. Research Findings: The system design is based on the concept of Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN) using Bizagi Modeler. Validation tests by material experts and IT experts are carried out to ensure that the designs have a certain quality and are relevant. The design evaluation system is carried out by involving the Human Capital and Developer Consultant. The level of efficiency can be achieved if the business process model has been designed adequately, and delays in payment can be reduced. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This research confirms that the problem solved is limited to system design. To obtain results implementation in the problem-solving process at PGE, further research will needed to discuss the system design in advanced Keywords: administration, BPMN, process business, internship, pocket money

Abstract

Research Aims: This study investigates the impact of company qualities and financial performance on underpricing (initial return) in firms undergoing initial public offerings from 2020 to 2023, with underwriter reputation moderating in this relationship. Design/methodology/approach: The study employed purposive sampling as the sampling strategy. The analysis technique used in this research is to use SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) analysis. Research Findings: The study's findings suggest that profitability and finance leverage have a detrimental impact on underpricing. Company Size and Company Age have no impact on Underpricing. Underwriter reputation can influence the impact of Return On Assets on Underpricing, but it does not affect the impact of Age, Size, and Equity Ratio of the Company on Underpricing. Firm size, age, return on assets, debt-to-equity ratio, and underwriter reputation are the variables that lead to underpricing. Theoretical Contribution/Originality: This study examines how underwriter reputation influences initial return and other parameters, including the debt-to-equity ratio, company age, organisation size, and return on assets. Prior studies used underwriter repute as an independent variable. This study's implications pertain to the initial market bidding activities of companies preparing to go public and other stakeholders interested in investigating factors affecting initial return. These stakeholders include potential investors considering the initial public offering, companies planning to go public, and researchers conducting further studies on this subject.
