Abstract

Natural food color are now widely used in food products because they have no side effects that are harmful to the health of the human body. Red dragon skin is one of the sources of natural food coloring. Red dragon skin contains betasianin pigment which produces red-violet. Research aims to determine the effect of the type of solvent and extraction temperature on the characteristics of the Betasianin pigment extract. Betasianin pigment is extracted using the decox method. The parameters measured are colors (L, a, b), pH, and betasianin pigment content. Research uses a randomized group design. Betacyanin pigment from red dragon fruit skin can be extracted using the water bath assisted solvent extraction method. An effective solvent used for the extraction of betacyanin pigment is distilled water and NaCl. Betacyanin pigment can be a natural colorant in food products. Highlights: Optimal Solvent Selection: Distilled water and NaCl are effective solvents for betacyanin pigment extraction, enhancing natural food colorant potential. Influence of Extraction Temperature: Study investigates how extraction temperature impacts betacyanin pigment content and color characteristics. Application in Food Industry: Betacyanin pigment from red dragon fruit skin offers a safe and vibrant natural coloring option for food products. Keywords : betacyanin, extraction, red dragon fruit peel

Abstract

This Study aims to develop a line tracer using Arduino Uno the PID control method. Line tracer robot is a type of robot is a type of robot capable of following a specified path. The PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control used to keep the robot on track by correcting the difference between the actual and the desired position. In this study, 6 photo diode sensors were used, the motor driver used the L293D, and the microcontroller used Arduino Uno. Testing the response of the photo diode sensor had the smallest voltage value at 1,219 Vdc and the largest voltage at 4,875 the result of the motor driver measurements all succeeded in stopping, ccw or cw. The end of testing the line tracer robot using PID control is able to navigate properly without getting of the track. Highlights: Precise Path Following: PID control ensures accurate tracking by correcting position deviations. Sensor Response Evaluation: Photo diode sensor testing reveals voltage range (1.219 Vdc to 4.875 V) for effective line detection. Motor Driver Proficiency: L293D motor driver successfully controls motor functions (stop, ccw, cw) for optimal movement. Keywords : Robot, Line Tracer, PID, Arduino Uno

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country, which gets a lot of sunshine every year. Harvesting energy from solar heat is an alternative solution to obtain renewable and environmentally friendly electrical energy. The purpose of this research is to design and test the temperature and flow of the working fluid of a solar collector for energy harvesting. The method used is true experiment research by making a solar collector prototype. Measurement of the temperature and pressure of the working fluid is carried out by varying the power of the heating lamp as a substitute for sunlight in the test. The experimental results show that the greater the heat energy received by the solar collector, the higher the temperature of the working fluid and the resulting pressure during the same test. The highest temperature recorded for the liquid coming out of the solar collector reaches 63.6 oC with a maximum pressure difference of 19.6 Pascals. The results of this test will be followed by testing the flow rate of the working fluid to determine the power potential of the working fluid for harvesting energy. Highlights: Efficiency Enhancement: Optimizing solar collector design for increased heat energy absorption and efficient energy conversion. Temperature-Pressure Correlation: Investigating the relationship between heat energy, working fluid temperature, and pressure for better energy yield. Flow Rate Analysis: Assessing working fluid flow to gauge energy potential and inform effective energy harvesting strategies. Keywords: solar collector, temperature, fluid pressure, energy harvesting

Abstract

Stunting is malnutrition related to nutritional insufficiency in the past so that nutritional problems are chronic. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is higher than other ASEAN countries, ranking fifth in the world. Functional food can be used as an alternative in preventing toddler stunting, one of which is by adding Moringa leaves to the snacks that toddlers like, namely sempol and pudding. The purpose of this study was to determine the chemical characteristics of moringa leaf-based snacks, namely sempol and pudding. The study uses a nested design with two factors. The first factor is the type of preparations, namely sempol and pudding, while the second factor is the concentration of the addition of Moringa leaves, namely 5%, 10% and 15%. Data were analyzed using ANOVA and minitab. The research results showed no significant effect on the values of water content, ash content, protein and fat content in sempol and moringa pudding. Based on the test results, the water content of sempol with moringa 15% is 54%, with an ash content of 2.11%, a fat content of 1.56% and a protein content of 36.58%. Meanwhile, 15% Moringa pudding has a moisture content of 77.5%, ash content of 0.36%, fat content of 5.97%, and protein content of 17.26%. Highlights: Prevalence of Stunting: Stunting is a critical malnutrition issue, especially in Indonesia, ranking fifth globally among ASEAN countries, highlighting the urgent need for effective interventions. Functional Food Approach: Incorporating Moringa leaves into popular toddler snacks (sempol and pudding) offers a potential solution to combat stunting through improved nutritional value and dietary diversity. Chemical Characteristics Study: The research examines the impact of Moringa leaf concentration (5%, 10%, 15%) on water, ash, protein, and fat content in both snacks, providing valuable insights into their nutritional profiles. Abstract

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are prevalent concerns among the elderly, particularly in occupations involving prolonged repetitive activities such as fishing and farming. This observational cross-sectional study aimed to identify and assess MSD complaints among active elderly fishermen and farmers in rural communities. A total of 50 participants aged 60-65 were surveyed using the Nordic Body Map (NBM) questionnaire to analyze changes in the distribution and severity of MSDs. Results indicated that 70% of respondents were in the 60-65 age group, predominantly male (76%), with females accounting for 24% (12 individuals). The analysis revealed a substantial prevalence of severe MSD complaints (46%), primarily manifested as lower back pain (52%). These findings highlight the significant burden of MSDs among elderly agricultural workers, emphasizing the need for targeted interventions and preventive strategies to enhance their well-being and quality of life. Highlights: High Prevalence: Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) exhibit a high prevalence among elderly agricultural workers engaged in repetitive tasks. Severe Impact: The study reveals a substantial proportion of elderly individuals experiencing severe MSDs, particularly lower back pain. Occupational Focus: The research sheds light on the specific challenges faced by aging farmers and fishermen, emphasizing the necessity for targeted interventions and preventive measures.
