Abstract

This study aims to analyse the mapping of chemical literacy levels of students in class XI MIPA at SMAN 1 Lubuk Basung on thermochemical material using the Rasch model according to the scientific literacy framework adapted by Shwartz. This study is a quantitative study using a sample of 50 students of class XI MIPA. The data is obtained from a chemical literacy test, then the data is analysed using the Rasch model. The results showed that students with the highest abilities have the right answers but have not been able to define the concepts and understanding is limited, meanwhile students with the lowest ability have wrong or blank answers. Thus, it was concluded, students with the highest abilities have a functional scientific literacy level on difficult items and students with the lowest abilities have a scientific literacy level.

Abstract

Chemistry learning in the 2013 Curriculum using guided inquiry which applied scientific approach can be presented in a module. The module was integrated with the Quran to fulfil Local Government Regulation No. 2 the Year 2019 and following core competence 1 in the 2013 Curriculum. The goal of the research was to produce and test the validity of the Quran integrated guided inquiry module on redox reaction topic for 10th Grade of Madrasah Aliyah (MA). The research used the Plomp model which has stages: preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment. The instrument is a validity questionnaire for teachers and lecturers. The V Aiken formula is used to calculate the validity value. The validation test revealed that Aikens V had an average value of 0.83. This indicates that the module is categorized as valid based on Aikens V category.

Abstract

The 2013 curriculum requires students to actively participate and be skilled within the use of knowledge and communication technology in the learning method so that learning is more interactive, efficient and effective. One of them is the use of e-modules or electronic teaching materials. This study aims to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the development of Guided Discovery Learning-based colloid system e-module for class XI grade senior high school students. This form of study is educational design research that makes use of the Plomp model. The validity check turned into completed with the aid of using five validators consisting of two chemistry lecturers at a university in the city of Padang and three chemistry teachers at a high school in Padang Pariaman district. The practicality and effectiveness test was conducted on three chemistry teachers and students of class XII MIPA at one of the high schools in Padang Pariaman district. The outcomes of validity and practicality had been analysed by the usage of the Aiken V formula and results of the effectiveness of e-module data using N-Gain formula. The conclusion of this research is that the e-module colloid system based on Guided Discovery Learning for class XI SMA which was developed is valid, practical, and effectively used to improve students understanding of concepts.

Abstract

The chemistry domino card game is one of learning media variations is useful for strengthening colloid system material for students. The purpose of this Research is determine the level of validity based on the function of the media. The type of this research used is Research and Development (R and D) which uses a 4-D development model, that consist of some stages namely the define, design, develop, and disseminate stage. Validation questionnaire were given to UNP chemistry lecturer and chemistry teacher at SMAN 1 Bonjol. The data analysis technique used Aikens V. The result of data analysis showed that the chemical domino card game as a learning media for colloid system material had a validity level of 0,89 with valid criteria. The result showed that the chemical domino card game developed was a valid.

Abstract

In 2022, the government offers three curriculum options to schools in Indonesia. The three curricula are the 2013 Curriculum, Kurikulum Darurat (Emergency Curriculum), and Prototype Curriculum. Students as subjects in learning must be ready with any curriculum used by their school. The Prototype Curriculum is new. Therefore, this study was conducted to determine students learning readiness in schools that implement the Prototype Curriculum. The research data was collected by surveying 98 students whom took chemistry class in one high school at Ogan Komering Ilir Regency, South Sumatra. The survey was conducted from April to May 2022. The survey data was collected using a questionnaire with 30 statements, on a scale of 1-5, consisting of components of physical, psychological, material, and cognitive readiness. This research instrument adopts what has been developed by Slameto (2013). The data is tabulated, calculated on the average per component of each student and all students, then calculated as the average of all data to categorize students learning readiness at the school. The average value of 1-2,5 means not ready, while the value of 2,6-5 means ready. The survey results showed that the average value of physical readiness was 4.33; psychic readiness was 4.00; material readiness was 4.20; and cognitive readiness was 3.23. Thus, students at one SMA in Ogan Komering Ilir Regency have good learning readiness in chemistry class with the Prototype Curriculum. Although the cognitive readiness of students is not optimal, teachers can improve it by designing integrative and fun learning such as the STEM learning model.

Abstract

The low chemical literacy of students and chemistry teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Insana is due to not developing an electronic-based learning media. This study aims to develop an E-Book based on local wisdom on the manufacture of traditional herbal medicine as chemical literacy with an Ethno-STEM approach. The research method is 3D model R and D. Data collection techniques through interviews, validation and questionnaires. The instruments used in this study were validation sheets and questionnaire sheets. The E-Book was validated by two experts, namely material experts and media experts and the subjects in this study were ten students of class XI science at SMA Negeri 1 Insana. The results of the validity that have been analyzed obtained a material validation value of 84 percent and a media validation value of 92 percent so that the average percentage of expert validators on the product developed was 88 percent with very valid criteria, while the response of students on a small scale obtained a value of 75 percent with good criteria and large scale score of 90.66 percent with very good criteria. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the developed E-Book was very valid and very good to use.

Abstract

Learning difficulties experienced by students in a subject can affect their learning outcomes. Learning difficulties can be caused by misconceptions experienced by students or knowledge barriers. It can be happened because chemistry has complex materials which require students to comprehend prerequisite concepts before mastering complex concepts. This research aims to develop a Structured Essay Diagnostic Test of Chemistry for acid-base titration material that fulfils good criteria as an instrument for identifying misconceptions, learning barriers, and assessing student learning outcomes. The research procedure consists of 3 stages: determining the content, obtaining information about students misconceptions, and developing a diagnostic test. The SEDToC instrument was tested for validity and reliability. The SEDToC was validated by four educational chemists and high school chemistry teachers. Which was concluded that the SEDToC instrument is valid, and reliable in the very high category. Analysis of the difficulty index of the SEDToC instrument obtained 10 items in the easy category and 18 questions in the difficult category. The analysis of the discriminatory power of the questions was obtained that 6 items were in a bad category, 18 questions were in the sufficient category, three item was in a good category and one item was in a very good category. The results of the study using the SEDToC instrument for acid-base titration materials proved that the SEDToC instrument was able to assess student learning outcomes, identify misconceptions, and material inhibiting students.

Abstract

In this study, the validity of the e-module based on the integrated guided inquiry of the Quran was tested on the material for the reaction rate of class XI Madrasah Aliyah. This is an Educational Design Research with a few stages, which is preliminary research, prototyping, and assessment included in the Plomp development model. The requirements of the West Sumatra Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2019 concerning the Curriculum as a subject that must be relevant to Al-Quran education have been met by this e-module. They are also following Core Competence 1 in the 2013 Curriculum. Five validators use research tools in the form of questionnaires to validate this e-module. The validity test results reveal a content validation value of 0.87 and a multimedia validation of 0.92 with a valid category indicating that the developed e-module can be used as teaching materials in schools.
