Abstract

The most important achievement in learning science is students’ scientific literacy skills in processing and communicating phenomena in life into science concepts that have been studied at school. One approach that can foster scientific literacy skills is the approach to social issues in life in teaching materials in schools. This study aims (1) to analyze students’ needs for teaching materials; (2) to analyze students’ learning needs with the Socio Scientific Issues approach; and (3) to analyze students’ scientific literacy preconceptual abilities. The method used is descriptive quantitative, using a clinical interview guideline instrument, with research subjects consisting of 10 students. This study used a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis involves several steps, namely data reduction, categorization, validity check, interpretation, and inference. The results of this study indicate that 1) There were 50% of students stated that they were bored with existing teaching materials, 54% stated that they preferred teaching materials that could be read as well as heard, 70% preferred modules, and 70% were very interested in social issues related to reaction rates, 2) Very few students can identify the context correctly and can explain correctly, 3) There were 45% of students did not know, 26% doubtful, and 29% students who know the application of scientific social issues. This shows that it is important to develop electronic chemistry modules based on socio-scientific issues to improve scientific literacy skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the form of the relevance of local Sasak wisdom to chemistry and explore the potential of Sasak local wisdom as a learning resource in chemistry subjects. This type of research is ethnographic research. Data collection techniques used are observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. The validity of the interview sheet is obtained from the validator, while the validity of the observation sheet is obtained from calculations using SPSS. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative analysis techniques which are a combination of the Miles Huberman and Spradley models. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the form of the relevance of Sasak local wisdom to chemistry can be reviewed based on the perspective or approach of analogy, representation, apperception, visualization, and interpretation and the potential for local wisdom of Sasak Lombok as a learning resource in chemistry subjects with discussions including material and its changes, separation, and manufacture of an integrated mixture of local Sasak wisdom.

Abstract

Hydrocarbons are a fairly dense material, it is necessary to strengthen the concept of this material in the form of exercises. As a result of the distribution of the questionnaire, 98% of students participated in training in the form of a game. One game that can be used as practice is a crossword puzzle. This study aims to produce an online crossword game and determine its validity and level of practicality. The research method used is research of development with a plomp model. The research time was carried out from January 2021 to October 2022. The place where this research was carried out was the FMIPA UNP campus and schools. The results of the study found that the crossword game media obtained an Aiken V index value at construct validation of 0.87 and content validation of 0.91. Furthermore, the results of the small group practicality test showed that the resulting media received a percentage score of 83% teacher response and 86% student response. This study concludes that the online crossword game media developed is already valid and very practical.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was analyze the level of chemical literacy of students at SMAN 1 Tilatang Kamang on the buffer solution material using the Rasch model with the Winstep application. This research method is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach with a sample of 75 students of 3th grade students at SMAN Tilatang Kamang. The chemical literacy test was carried out using a chemical literacy-based question instrument amount 11 items. Data on chemical literacy test results were analyzed using the Rasch model. Scalogram analysis based on the ability of student who have high abilities is 35L and student who have lowest ability is subject 02L. Based on the level of difficulty of the items, the most difficult item is number 8 (theme 4) and the easiest item is number 10 (theme 6). Most of the chemical literacy analysis description of students at SMAN 1 Tilatang Kamang are at the Scientific Illiteracy level of 39%.

Abstract

Petroleum material studied at class XI senior high school. This material is considered by the teacher to be studied independently by giving reading assignments and exercises. The teaching materials used are a summary of the material and don’t contain images, videos, audio, or questions, and aren’t scientifically derived. Needed are teaching materials per the curriculum and technological advances, which are one through e-modules. This study aimed to develop a petroleum e-module based on gdl for class xi high school and determine its validity and practicality. The research type is design research with plomp’s model. This method consists of three stages of preliminary research, prototyping phase, and assessment phase. This study was limited to small groups at the prototype stage iii. The validity test was carried out by five validators. The practicality test was carried out by two chemistry teachers and twelve students. The data collection instruments were validity questionnaires and practicality questionnaires. The results of the validity questionnaire were analysed by the aiken’s v formula and the practical results using descriptive statistical formula. The results of the study show that the content validity of the e-module based on gdl- is valid (0.88), Then the construct validity was in the valid category (0.89). The practicality of teachers is in the practical category (79.86%), And students are in the very practical category (84.91%). Further research is needed, namely field tests to determine practicality and effectiveness on a broad scale.

Abstract

Chemical equilibrium is a lesson material for 2nd grade of senior high school in chemistry subject. The material is difficult for some students to understand because the characteristics of the material are abstract and count a lot. Independent learning is required to better understand this topic. Social media can be used as an innovative source of independent learning, one of which is instagram. The utilization of this platform can attract interest in learning because most students are instagram users. But there are no accounts that have been found that use it to share chemical equilibrium learning media. The research was carried out to develop chemical equilibrium learning media using instagram and uncover its validity and practicality. The type of research is educational design research with the plomp model which consists of three stages, namely: preliminary research, prototyping stage, and assessment phase. The research is limited to prototype stage iii. The research subjects were unp chemistry lecturers, chemistry teachers, and students of sman 3 padang. Validation data processed using aiken’s v formula shows that the media is valid with a value of v = 0.9. Practicality tests on teachers and students in small groups stated that the resulting media was very practical.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the scaffolding applied to the chemistry learning process on colloidal material in the context of yogurt using the SETS approach. Scaffolding is a learning strategy in which the teacher provides assistance to students in solving a problem in the learning process. Yogurt is an example of a type of colloid with a type of colloid emulsion, and is a form of application of the colloid concept. This type of research is a quantitative descriptive research. The subjects in the study were 20 class XII students of SMAN 1 Padangbolak. The results of the analysis show that the existence of scaffolding given by the teacher, especially in colloid learning, can help students understand learning, which can be proven by the average student score of 82,9.

Abstract

Modul hidrokarbon berbasis inkuiri terbimbing terintegrasi Al Quran untuk kelas XI Madrasah Aliyah telah dikembangkan serta diuji validitasnya untuk membimbing peserta didik selama proses belajar. Penelitian ini menggunakan ploomp sebagai model pengembangan yang terdiri dari tiga tahap, yaitu tahap pendahuluan, tahap prototipe, dan tahap penilaian. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk menguji validitas penelitian ini adalah berupa angket untuk guru dan dosen. Data dianalisis menggunakan rumus Aiken’s V. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata Aiken 0,89. Berdasarkan  data tersebut menunjukkan bahwa modul yang dikembangkan memenuhi kategori valid Aiken V yang berlaku.

Abstract

The Formal thinking ability is the ability to think in the face of hypothetical situations abstractly and can reason logically. When students reach formal thinking skills, they will have no difficulty understanding the concept of hydrolysis which is abstract. Based on the daily test scores for class XI IPA SMAN 4 Padang, it is known that 30% of students have not achieved completeness in hydrolysis. The incompleteness of some students indicates that there are still students who have not reached the level of formal thinking skills. Therefore, it is necessary to describe the level of students' formal thinking skills. This research was conducted to describe: the level of students' formal thinking skills, the type of research is descriptive. The research sample was students of class XI IPA AT SMAN 4 padang, who were obtained using cluster random sampling. The research instrument was a formal thinking ability test (buney test). In the formal thinking test, trials were carried out to see the value of item validity and reliability. The results of the study showed that:63.79% of class xi ipa sman 4 padang students had reached the level of formal thinking skills.

Abstract

The independent curriculum was developed as a flexible framework, focusing on essential material, character development and student competencies. One of the essential materials studied in this curriculum is atomic structure-advantages of nanotechnology. This material is difficult for students, especially in the sub-material for determining electron configurations, sorting, classifying and differentiating the periodicity of elements in the periodic system. Teaching materials are needed to help students understand this material. This study aimed to develop an e-module of the atomic structure-advantages of nanotechnology for Phase E SMA/MA students and to analyze its level of validity and practicality. The type of research is Educational Design Research with the Plomp development model. The study is limited to the e-module practicality stage in small groups. The research subjects were UNP chemistry lecturers, teachers and Phase E students at SMAN 7 Padang. Data validation results were analyzed using Aiken's V formula, which shows that the e-module is valid with a value of V=0.82. Practicality test results data were analyzed using the percentage formula. They obtained practicality tests on teachers by 92% and students by 85% in small groups indicating that the e-modules produced were very practical.
