Abstract

PT Global Rising Technologies Perkasa is a contractor engaged in the assembly of high-end wire and cable, as well as box build assembly for the automotive, semi-conductor and medical industries globally. One of the machines used, namely the pneumatic crimping machine, does not operate effectively in its production process. Continuous use of pneumatic crimping machines if not maintained properly causes damage and downtime to the machine. Downtime data that occurred on pneumatic crimping machines from July 2023 to June 2024 was 340 hours. The purpose of this study was to find the factors that cause pneumatic crimping machines to experience high downtime and find ways to reduce it. The analysis method used to measure machine effectiveness is overall equipment effectiveness (OEE), identifying the Six Big Losses using a Pareto diagram, and analyzing the main causes using a Fishbone Diagram. The results of this study show that the average OEE value of pneumatic crimping machines is 67%, far from the international standard of 85%, so it is considered low. The main factors causing high downtime are Equipment Failure Losses of 13% and Idling Minor Stoppages of 22%. There are two pillars of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) used as a solution, Planned Maintenance and Autonomous Maintenance. With this implementation, the level of operational effectiveness will increase and downtime caused by damage to the pneumatic crimping machine will be reduced.

Abstract

Motorcycle security in Indonesia has become an important issue due to the high number of thefts, with 37,684 cases in November 2023, a sharp increase of 165% compared to the previous year. To address this issue, an Internet of Things (IoT)-based security system was developed that integrates the Neo-6M GPS module, SW-420 vibration sensor, and ESP32 WROOM microcontroller. The system enables real-time monitoring of vehicle position, suspicious activity detection, and instant notification delivery through a mobile application. The GPS module results have positioning accuracy with a margin of error of 24.78 meters in open space and 27.94 meters in closed space. While the vibration sensor is able to activate the horn automatically when the position of the vehicle is nudged and moved. The mobile application is designed to make it easier for users to monitor and control vehicles remotely. Based on the survey, 73.4% of users found the app easy to use, while 86.7% found the interface clear and informative. The system is expected to reduce the risk of motorcycle theft through an innovative, practical, and effective IoT solution.

Abstract

PT ABC is a company that provides logistics transportation services for the delivery of various products. PT ABC has a problem, namely that it does not have an optimal route for delivering products. This causes their operational costs to exceed the operational cost standards they set. The Nearest Neighbor method is a method of optimizing operational costs by looking for the shortest point connections to produce the shortest route. After implementing this method, there were route changes, namely for the Long 6 Wheel CDD unit from the initial route G-C1-C2-C3-C4-G it was changed to G-C1-C3-C2-G and for the 6 Wheel CDD unit from the initial route G -C1-C2-C3-C4-G is changed to G-C3-C4-G. Apart from that, there was a reduction in mileage after optimization, namely 269 Km. There is a reduction in operational costs, namely IDR 470,000.

Abstract

PT. DSV Solutions Indonesia (Semarang Site) is a logistics company that provides storage and delivery services for PT. Semarang Autocomp Manufacturing Indonesia (SAMI). Between August and October 2024, several product defects were identified during the storage and delivery processes, including dented boxes, torn boxes, tangled wires, and peeled wires. These defects resulted in additional handling processes and had the potential to reduce customer trust. To analyze and address these issues, the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) method was applied to identify the root causes and effects of each defect, as well as to determine the priority for corrective actions. The analysis revealed that dented boxes had the highest Risk Priority Number (RPN) of 294, primarily caused by improper handling such as throwing packages. Meanwhile, tangled wires had an RPN of 252, attributed to poor material handling practices.

Abstract

Agave Sisalana is widely grown in the Bukit Bulek area, West Sumatra Province. The Sisal leaf fiber is traditionally utilized by the Bukit Bulek community as a rope material. This indicates it has a great potential to be developed as a composite reinforcement material. This research aims to characterize the flexural and impact strength of Sisal leaf fiber as reinforcement in epoxy matrix composites by varying the fiber volume fractions, 30%, 35%, 40%, and 45% with a 0°/90° fiber orientation laminate. The 20 cm long of fibers and treated with 5% NaOH alkaline solution for 4 hours were employed. The composites were fabricated using the vacuum bagging method. Flexural and impact tests were conducted based on ASTM D-790 and ASTM D-6110 standards, respectively. The results show that the flexural strength increases from 45,20 to 49,67 MPa (maximum) as the fiber volume fraction increases from 30% to 35% fiber. Meanwhile, the impact strength increases as fiber volume fractions from 30% to 45% and reaches a maximum impact strength of 24.60 kJ/m².

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the corrosion rate of low carbon steel in the coastal environment of Manyar District, Gresik Regency, by comparing the effects of seawater and river estuary water as well as deformation through different bending angles (45° and 90°). The weight loss method was used, with specimen immersion conducted for one month. The results showed that seawater, due to its high salinity, caused a significantly higher corrosion rate compared to estuary water. Low carbon steel specimens (M) were more susceptible to corrosion than nail specimens (P), likely due to differences in material composition and surface treatment. Additionally, deformation increased the corrosion rate due to stress concentration and micro-pooling at bent areas. This study offers a quantitative overview of steel degradation under real-world conditions and recommends additional protective measures, such as coatings or stress-minimizing designs. Further research is encouraged, including microscopic analysis and numerical simulations for more accurate prediction of material lifespan.
