Abstract

The cracker industry is a growing food sector in Indonesia. UMKM Kerupuk Adie Mandiri in North Balikpapan produces onion crackers made from garlic. This study aims to analyze the risks in its production process using the House of Risk (HOR) method. This method helps identify, classify, and prioritize risks based on impact and probability. Business process identification was carried out using the SCOR approach and 19 risk events and 28 risk causes were found. With HOR 1 and the help of the Pareto diagram, 3 dominant risk causes were selected. A total of 13 mitigation strategies were formulated, and through HOR 2, strategies that were easy and dif icult to implement were determined. These results are expected to help UMKM in risk management and increasing operational ef iciency, and can be a reference for similar industries.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis pengaruh harga dan pelayanan terhadap kepuasan petani ubi jalar yang bermitra dengan pabrik pengolahan PT. ABC di Kabupaten Gowa. Metode yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kuantitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner dan wawancara. Sampel diambil secara jenuh dari seluruh populasi petani mitra. Hasil analisis regresi menunjukkan bahwa harga berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kepuasan petani, sementara pelayanan tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan secara parsial. Nilai koefisien determinasi sebesar 62% menunjukkan bahwa harga dan pelayanan secara bersama-sama menjelaskan sebagian besar variasi kepuasan petani. Temuan ini menegaskan pentingnya kebijakan penetapan harga yang adil untuk meningkatkan loyalitas dan keberlanjutan kemitraan antara petani dan pabrik pengolahan.

Abstract

PT Indotruck Utama is a company that supplies and distributes heavy equipment, including Volvo trucks and construction equipment. One of the main problems this company faces is overstocking in the warehouse, which can lead to additional storage space, increased inventory costs, and the risk of damage to goods. This research aims to optimize inventory management by controlling stock at an ideal level and comparing the current total inventory cost with the proposed price. In this study, the Continuous Review System method is applied by first grouping spare parts using the ABC method. This method categorizes inventory items based on the contribution of fund absorption, where category A items absorb the most significant funds, category B is intermediate, and category C has the most minor fund absorption. A total of 24 spare parts items were grouped into these three categories. Next, inventory requirements were forecasted using historical data to estimate the number of spare parts required in the future. Based on the forecasting results, estimated inventory requirements, optimal ordering point (Q*), reorder point, and safety stock were calculated for each item. The results showed that the current total inventory cost reached Rp 343,368,047.63, while with the implementation of the Continuous Review System, the cost can be reduced to Rp 333,425,336.79. Thus, there is a savings of Rp 9,942,710.84 or about 2.90%.

Abstract

PT Loka Refractories Wira Jatim is a refractory material manufacturing company for the cement, steel, power generation, and waste processing industries. In the last five months, there has been an increase in damage to the press machine, especially the stamp, disc, and moldbox components, which disrupts production and increases maintenance costs. To overcome this, the company optimizes the maintenance system and spare part management with the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Time-Based Maintenance (TBM) approaches. MTTF and MTTR analysis are used to prepare a preventive maintenance schedule, where TBM is applied to components with predictable damage such as stamps, discs, and oil, while RCM is for gears and axles. TPM involves operators in daily maintenance. Spare part management uses the Reorder Point (ROP) method based on actual consumption and lead time, ensuring timely spare part availability without overstocking, and supporting production efficiency and sustainability.

Abstract

Weeds compete with crops for nutrients, reducing agricultural productivity. While herbicides are commonly used to control them, their production exposes workers to chemicals that may cause mild to severe skin irritation. To minimize this risk, increasing employee awareness of personal protective equipment (PPE), particularly latex gloves, is essential. A fishbone diagram was used to analyze the root causes of low PPE usage, and improvements were implemented using the Kaizen method. Facility access was identified as the primary contributing factor. Corrective actions included relocating glove supplies closer to workstations. Comparative analysis between 2023 (before intervention) and 2024 (after intervention) showed significant improvements: glove usage ratio increased from 0.81 to 1.05, the correlation coefficient rose from 0.38 to 0.75, and the p-value decreased from 0.219 to 0.013. These results indicate a statistically significant increase in PPE compliance. Facility-focused interventions using continuous improvement strategies can effectively enhance occupational safety awareness and behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the quality control of tempeh chips products in Batam using the Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) approaches. Tempeh chips are processed food products that have significant economic value for MSMEs in Batam, but often face various challenges related to quality control. The research method used is a combined qualitative and quantitative approach with a sample of 3 MSMEs producing tempeh chips in Batam. The results of the study identified several major quality problems in the tempeh chips production process, including non-uniform thickness, damaged packaging, soft texture, imperfect packaging seals, and weight contents that do not match the label. Through the application of FMEA, this study calculates the Risk Priority Number (RPN) for each failure mode, identifying five critical problems with the highest RPN values. Furthermore, using RCA and 5-Why analysis so that the root cause of each problem can be identified based on human, machine, method, material, and environmental factors. Based on the results of the analysis, this study recommends a series of comprehensive quality control recommendations, including the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), quality monitoring systems, employee training programs, and the implementation of quality control checkpoints. This research provides a significant contribution to the development of the tempeh chips industry in Batam and can be a reference for similar research in other areas.

Abstract

Supercapacitors are increasingly developing energy storage devices because they have advantages over conventional batteries and capacitors, such as high power density and long cycle life. Electrolytes are solutions that contain ions and function as electrically conductive media. In chemistry, electrolytes usually consist of acid, base, or salt solutions. The electrolyte used in supercapacitors plays a crucial role in achieving the desired power and energy density. In general, electrolytes are divided into two types based on their phase form, namely liquid and solid or gel electrolytes. Liquid electrolytes can be acids, bases or salts. While gel electrolytes are electrolytes that are denser in nature so that they can reduce leakage.

Abstract

YU Pet Shop warehouse faces inefficiencies in the distribution of cat food, as delivery routes are manually determined by drivers without considering distance or vehicle capacity. This study aims to optimize distribution routes using the Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) method to reduce operational costs, particularly fuel and labor expenses. The results show that the total monthly travel distance can be reduced from 852 km to 661.6 km, achieving an efficiency gain of 22.34%. This reduction leads to monthly fuel savings of IDR 144,160 and labor cost savings of IDR 400,000. Therefore, the implementation of ACO has proven effective in improving distribution efficiency and significantly reducing transportation costs, thus supporting a more competitive and efficient company operation.

Abstract

The modal parameters identification is a crucial part for designing and monitoring of a structure. This research is aimed to identify natural frequency and damping ratio of a lab-scaled two-story building model as a structure-under-test (SUT). The identification applies an operational modal analysis (OMA) technique, leveraging an algorithm of covariance-driven stochastic subspace identification (SSI-Cov) within PyOMA2 libraries. The SUT is subjected to random excitations using pseudo random signals within 0.1-25 Hz frequency range. The acceleration responses were sampled at 7.5 ms rate for 1 minute at each floor. Consequently, two modes with frequencies 2.2384 Hz and 5.9220 Hz are successfully identified below 25 Hz. These two modes yield 0.0135 and 0.0069 of damping ratios, respectively. These findings are compared to those of other algorithms that demonstrated a satisfactory identification of natural frequencies. However, a significant difference emerges in the identified damping ratios, particularly with regard to the second mode.

Abstract

This article presents the preliminary plant design and techno-economic assesment of Dimethyl Ether (DME) production from coal. As the world’s third largest coal producer, Indonesia faces challenges in using low rank lignite due to its high moisture content, wgich limits direct combustion efficiency. The plant was designed to produce 210,000 tons of DME per year, supporting national effort to reduce LPG imports and improve energy security. The calculation include mass and energy balances, equipment sizing, and enviromental considerations suh as CO2 emissions management. Economic evaluation demonstrate project feasibility, with an internal rate of return of 24.28%, a payback period of 3.46 years, and a net present value of 39.60 million USD. Sensitivity analysis shows profitability is highly sensitive to DME price variations. Further research issyngas recommended to develop effective carbon capture strategies and evaluate lifecycle emissions to enhance DME production more enviromentally friendly and sustainable.
