Abstract

The oil and gas industry carries high operational risks, particularly in metering system calibration activities. This research uses the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) method to find and examine possible risks in PT. X's metering system calibration procedure. Direct observation, conversations with engineers and HSE teams, and an examination of pertinent papers were used to gather data. Risk analysis was performed using a semi-quantitative approach by assessing the likelihood and severity levels for each identified potential hazard. The research identified 12 potential risks distributed across three categories: low risk (25%), medium risk (66.67%), and high risk (8.33%). The highest risk was found in the power transmitter isolation phase with electrocution hazard. Based on these findings, risk control recommendations are formulated which include training and certification, procedures, engineering controls and proper use of PPE. The implementation of comprehensive and systematic risk control is key to ensuring work safety and the extinction of company operations.

Abstract

Abstract

This research evaluates the performance and effectiveness of the PEX150JA extruder machine in the medium voltage cable production process during the outer sheathing phase. The performance was measured using the Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) method, which encompasses Availability, Performance, and Quality rates. Data collected over 12 months revealed an average OEE value of 70%, indicating suboptimal performance compared to the global industry standard of 85%. Contributing factors include component wear and operational inefficiencies. The main findings show that the low OEE is caused by issues with Carbon Brush, Bearing, and Heating System. The practical implications of this research emphasize the necessity of implementing scheduled preventive maintenance to reduce failure frequency. Improvements are proposed based on data analysis and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).

Abstract

Damage to a tool can cause the production process to stop and cause downtime. Preventing damage to equipment is by managing the maintenance process. This process includes preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and predictions of damage (predictive maintenance) which is carried out periodically. Centrifugal pumps have the working principle of converting kinetic energy (speed) of liquid into potential (dynamic) energy through an impeller that rotates in the casing. This pump is an impeller that is mounted on a shaft with bearings at both ends. Damage to the pump rotor has a serious impact on the performance and reliability of the pump system. The rotor is one of the main components responsible for transferring mechanical energy into the pumped fluid, so damage to the rotor can affect pump efficiency, operational life, and damage to pump components. Analysis of damage to the pump rotor was carried out by testing using the NDT method. NDT testing includes Visual Inspection, Magnetic Particle Inspection, Liquid Penetrant and Balancing Rotor. Based on the results of the tests and analysis carried out, it was found that there was damage to several parts of the pump rotor, such as corrosion on the pump shaft, dirt on the surface, and scratches on the mechanical seal seat area with a depth of approximately 0.50 mm. Rotor unbalance or the center of gravity of the shaft rotation is not the same as the geometric center of the shaft. The impeller was found to be in poor condition, high metal of radial impeller and medium to heavy rubbing at wearing impeller. The DE and NDE distance sleeves are not in a bad condition and there are scratches.

Abstract

PT. XYZ a manufacturing company focused on the production of paper, notebooks, and chemicals, faces challenges in the inefficient manual mixing process. This process involves a lot of wasteful movements and unergonomic workplace arrangements, resulting in operator discomfort, long cycle times, and low productivity. This study aims to evaluate and improve the manual mixing work system in the manual insert department, by highlighting the problems of inefficient movements and improving work safety and comfort. Improvements were made through the application of ergonomic principles, including rearranging the layout and adding a feeder role (tools used to provide raw materials or materials to the work area). The results showed that with the implementation of these improvements, the average cycle time was significantly reduced from 639 seconds per rim to 132 seconds per rim, or a reduction of 79.34%. In addition, production output increased rapidly from 42 rims to 204 rims in 7.5 working hours, increasing production efficiency by 385.71%. Not only that, irregular job time was also drastically reduced, increasing operational efficiency from 57% to 99%. These improvements have successfully reduced operator physical fatigue, increased productivity, and created a more ergonomic and comfortable working environment. These results demonstrate the importance of ergonomic approaches and work system optimization in improving company performance.

Abstract

UKM Bintang Anugrah is a company that operates in the snack food sector, especially cassava crackers, which produces 150kg to 250kg of cassava every day and produces 600 packs of 250g and 350 packs of 500g. The cracker molding process is still done manually using flower-shaped cake molds, which not only takes a long time, but also produces less than optimal output and takes up to 5 hours. This research aims to design an automatic printing machine to increase production efficiency and reduce operational costs. By using the Quality Function Deployment (QFD) method, the needs of workers and customers are identified, such as increasing production speed, ease of operation and process efficiency. The machine's technical specifications are then adapted to these needs. The designed automatic printing machine is able to speed up the printing process and reduce worker workload, increasing production capacity by up to 40%. With this machine, SME Bintang Anugrah can produce more crackers in a shorter time, which allows the company to better meet market demand and reduce operational costs, thereby increasing competitiveness in the snack food industry.

Abstract

Silurus UMKM is a catfish farming business that has been operating since 2019, using the biofloc method to increase harvest efficiency. However, the main obstacle faced is the increase in fish feed prices, reducing the frequency of feeding and extending the harvest period to 3.5–4 months. As a solution, this study proposes the design of a catfish feed pellet making machine based on worker anthropometric data to ensure ergonomics. This machine is designed to utilize local waste raw materials, such as tofu dregs and bran, which are available for free or at low cost. The trial results showed that the machine can produce 3 kg of pellets per cycle with an average time of 74 seconds. The production cost analysis recorded a total expenditure of IDR 2,365,625 per harvest with a production capacity of 50 kg, resulting in a production cost (HPP) of IDR 47,312 per kilogram with the machine design being able to save HPP of 7,688 / Kg or a savings of 13.97%. The use of local raw materials such as tofu dregs and bran in feed production has a significant economic impact, reducing costs by up to 13.97%. This approach increases the profitability of MSMEs by reducing dependence on expensive commercial feed. Waste-based solutions also support long-term sustainability, integrating economic efficiency and environmental friendliness. With the implementation of this machine, Silurus MSMEs can reduce feed costs, increase production efficiency, and support business sustainability. This research provides practical solutions for similar MSMEs to overcome operational cost challenges through affordable and environmentally friendly technological innovations.

Abstract

Peat water is raw water which is used as a source of clean water by the people of Pekanbaru. However, after testing according to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia for clean water standards No. 416/MENKES/PER/IX/1990 the results of measuring the color and turbidity value of peat water are above the quality standards, namely 219 TCU and 15.1 NTU. This value is very far from the color and turbidity quality standards with respective concentrations of 15 TCU and 5 NTU. Therefore, in this research, an adsorption process was carried out using an adsorbent from Patin bone waste (Pangasius sp.) typical of Riau province by utilizing a physical activation process to open pores and help facilitate absorption. The variable used in this research were adsorbent mass and stirring speed. For adsorbent mass there was a variation of 0.1; 0.3; 0.5; and 0.7 grams while the stirring speed was 50, 100, and 150 rpm with a stirring time of 120 minutes and each sample had a particle size of 100 mesh. The results of this adsorption process obtain the best efficiency value at Patin bone mass of 0.7 grams with a stirring speed of 100 rpm. The color reduction efficiency reached 96.35%, namely 8 TCU, while the turbidity reduction efficiency at Patin bone mass of 0.7 grams with a stirring speed of 100 rpm reached 92.72%, namely 1.1 NTU.
