Abstract

One of the formal education pathways that prepare its graduates to have excellence in the world of work is Vocational High Schools (SMK). Current problems in SMK are generally related to limited equipment, low practice costs, and a learning environment that is not suitable for the world of work. Education is carried out to achieve human resources with the ability to think which is formulated as "Higher Order Thinking Skills" (HOTS) which aims to form human resources with the ability to innovate and be able to solve problems. In developing CBI-based learning models, there are learning models that aim to provide a concrete learning experience through the creation of imitations of experiences that are closer to the actual atmosphere. Computer-based learning is strongly influenced by cognitive learning theory, a model of information processing that began to develop in the 60s and 70s.

Abstract

Olusegun Obasanjo’s My Watch explicates a representation of Nigerian socio-political history and is laden with political arguments. This paper investigates the pragma-rhetorical devices and the strategic patterns utilized by Olusegun Obasanjo in My Watch - a three-volume text.  However, only Volume Two: Political and Public Affairs (PPA) was considered for the analysis. Adopting van Eemeren and Grootendorst’s pragma-dialectical theory of argumentation, this paper analyses Obasanjo’s argument on Odi Military Action and the Third-Term issues as presented in PPA. It identifies five presentational devices: positive pragmatic argument, practs, presuppositions, negative lexicalization, passive construction; and six strategic maneuvering techniques: blame game, smokescreen techniques, prerogative argument, fallacious appeal to authority, ad-hominiem attacks, and ethotic appeal. The paper posits that Obasanjo’s presentational devices and strategic maneuvering techniques are adapted strategically to the beliefs and preferences of his audience.  It concludes that Obasanjo’s narration focuses not on ‘redemption’ but ‘justification’ and the argument adopted the standard strategic maneuvering of political rhetoric which is often polarizing and destructive; therefore, his strategic maneuvering derails.

Abstract

Various studies were conducted to try to improve the accuracy in performing the volleyball jump service, either by simple exercises to modification of the form of training. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the effect of recovery time in distributed practice and leg muscle power on the accuracy of volleyball jump service. This research was conducted on volleyball athletes at Vita Surakarta club. The research method used is an experimental method with a 2x2 factorial design, the sample size in this study was 40 athletes obtained through total sampling technique. Data analysis techniques in this study used ANOVA, Saphiro-Wilk test (Lilliefors test with α = 0.05) and variance homogeneity test (Leve's test with α = 0.05). The results showed that (1) athletes who were given training using long recovery times had a significant effect on the accuracy of the volleyball jump service compared to athletes who were given training using short recovery times. (2) athletes who have high leg muscle power have a significant effect on the accuracy of the volleyball jump service compared to athletes who have low leg muscle power. (3) there is an interaction between the recovery time and leg muscle power on the accuracy of the volleyball jump service.
