Abstract

Research and development aims to produce products in the form of explanatory text teaching materials as well as to test the effectiveness of the products that can be used by grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 28 Medan as one of the ways to improve the quality of learning. The results of the validation from material experts in the development of explanatory text teaching materials for students showed that the feasibility of the teaching material components with an average of 88.54 on very good criteria and the feasibility of material substance with an average of 90.91 on very good criteria. Thus, the explanatory text teaching materials developed as a whole are included in the "very good" criteria. The results of module validation by learning design experts concluded that the learning design developed was in the "very good" criteria with a total average percentage of 91.00%. Thus, the feasibility of the design of the explanatory text teaching materials developed can be used by students. The results of the responses made by the Indonesian language teacher concluded that the explanatory text module was included in the "very good" criteria with a total average percentage of 99.26%. So it can be stated that there are differences in learning outcomes between students who use explanatory text teaching materials and those who use textbooks and it can be concluded that the teaching materials developed are effective and suitable for use as learning resources.

Abstract

This paper examines Australian foreign policy among Indonesian, especially on the West Irian case in 1949-1962. The bilateral relationship between Indonesia-Australia from 1949-1962 always goes through up and down “Roller Coaster.” The relationship between both countries is not structured. No mechanism is arranged, so it depends on the political development and the situations, especially defense and political problems. Indonesia claimed that West Irian is supposed to be a menace for Australian security. Australia put West Irian as a Vital Interest concept. In the cabinet session on January 11, 1962, Australia do “Volte Face” and confess that the vital interest concept is not invalid anymore because there is no menace evidence for Australia or region Australia interest.

Abstract

After a long waited span, the whole world could see the ray of covid-19 vaccine to resist the planet to watch the death procession. But some country people especially the people of Bangladesh keep them aside to take the vaccination. This study aims to understand the perception towards the COVID-19 vaccination program in Bangladesh and the targeted subject is the university student as they are suffering highly depression nowadays. Higher education has been affected globally as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in 223 countries. Moreover, for this pandemic situation, the university students can not complete their graduation which binds them to enter their professional career. Alike all of the developed countries, as well as developing countries, Bangladesh, also considered vaccination as an effective measure to protect the peoples from the Covid-19 virus. This study targeted three psychological factors of the university students and surveyed 322 students from the different universities in Bangladesh to understand their perception regarding vaccines. Moreover, it is seen that most of the students doubt the effectiveness of the vaccine which interrupts them from taking the vaccine willingly.

Abstract

This research is grounded from the teaching materials which tend to be teacher-centered. Students only listen to what is said by the teacher. This study aims to: (1) develop Bhineka Tunggal Ika teaching materials by integrating effective character education; (2) apply Bhineka Tunggal Ika teaching materials with the integration of character education to improve student learning outcomes using the contextual learning approach. Subjects in this study are students of Class six at state primary school in Medan. The objects in this study are modules developed by Class 6a and 6b respectively 36 students of state primary school in Medan. Data collection instruments used consisted of test learning outcomes and observation of the teacher's ability to manage learning, student character questionnaires and student response questionnaires. The results show that the effectiveness of the product development tools in the application of the development model of Bhineka Tunggal Ika with the integration of character education using contextual learning. Student learning outcomes after the development of Bhineka Tunggal Ika teaching materials with the integration of character education using contextual learning can be seen from the results of student work in completing the given tests, it can be seen that the classical completeness analysis results have reached 94.44%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the validity and effectiveness of teaching materials developed based on a realistic mathematical approach in improving students 'mathematical reasoning and representation abilities, to analyze the increase in students' reasoning skills and mathematical representation abilities taught using teaching materials based on realistic mathematical approaches. The data were obtained through the validation sheet of teaching materials, observation sheets, student response questionnaires, mathematical reasoning ability test instruments and mathematical representation ability tests. This study uses a 4-D development model Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel by developing teaching materials with a realistic mathematical approach. Based on the results of the validation, the total average value of the RPP validity was 4.81, the student books were 4.83 and the LKPD was 4.85, the students' mathematical reasoning ability tests and the mathematical representation ability tests were in the valid category. Classical mastery of learning reaches 90.62% which has met the completeness criteria, namely ≥85% of students have reached the KKM. The increase in students' mathematical reasoning abilities using teaching materials based on a realistic mathematical approach on fraction material seen from N-Gain in the first trial and second trial has increased from 0.36 to 0.50 meaning that it is in the medium category. As well as an increase in the ability of students' mathematical representation using teaching materials based on a realistic mathematical approach on fraction material seen from N-Gain in the first trial and second trial, it increased from 0.43 to 0.50, meaning that it was in the medium category.

Abstract

Economic growth is an indicator that is often used for economic conditions in developing countries like Indonesia. Growing the economy of a region can be done by increasing economic activities in the area. This research was conducted with the aim of seeing and showing the effect of export value, inflation and per capita expenditure on economic growth in North Sumatra. The research was conducted using quantitative methods using data from 1990 to 1999 based on the variables used in the variables in this study. Export value and per capita expenditure have an effect on Economic Growth in North Sumatra Province. The value of the results of the comparative test or t-test conducted shows that the variable export value has a value of 2.826 and 2.323 so that there is an influence that affects economic growth. Meanwhile, inflation does not have a significant effect on Economic Growth in North Sumatra Province. Based on the t-test, the output of the inflation variable gets a value of -8,431, so it can be stated that economic growth in North Sumatra cannot occur positively on inflationary activity in North Sumatra.

Abstract

Since ancient times the Javanese people have been familiar with the belief system. Before Islam came the beliefs of Animism and dynamism as well as Hindu and Buddhist religions had already developed in Javanese society. Islam is accepted in Javanese society with youth and peace, because preachers have a high tolerance for Javanese culture. One of the forms of cultural acculturation or inherent in the soul of Javanese society is the Nyadran tradition. The Nyadran tradition is a symbolic ritual that is full of meaning Nyadran traditional ceremony includes partially oral folklore because in it there is a form of oral fochlor, namely the prayers used in the ceremony and there is also a form of non-verbal folklore in the form of uba rampe in the ceremony. In socio-cultural terms, the implementation of nyadran tardisi is not only limited to ceremonial cleaning of ancestral burials , salvation (kenduri), making apem cakes, compote, sticky rice, and various snacks from the market which are used as elements of "offerings" as well as being a prerequisite for the ritual prayer procession. However, the nyadran ritual in a socio-cultural context has also become a medium of friendship between families and communities, as well as a social, cultural and religious transformation. Nyadran is an expression and expression of social piety in a society where a sense of mutual cooperation, solidarity, and togetherness is the main pattern of this tradition.

Abstract

The status of physical working conditions/facilities especially in Nigerian public secondary schools today appears to be of great concern to educators. It seems that the provisions of these school facilities have dwindled over the years, perhaps due to increase in school enrolment rate which had led to population explosion in public schools. The objective of this study was to examine the effect of physical working condition on effective teaching and learning in public secondary schools of Bwari Area Council Abuja, Nigeria. The study is a survey research and the population of the study consists of 540 teachers of 11 public secondary schools in the Council with sample size of 230 determined using Taro Yamane’s formula. Primary data was used through the administration of questionnaire, and the formulated hypotheses tested by Kendal coefficient of concordance method. The findings of the study revealed that Conducive physical working condition; Instructional materials, learning facilities like computers, flips chart and audio-visual disc increases students learning and enhance academic performance; Functional facilities like classrooms furniture’s and libraries improve students’ reading habits, hence increase their performance. Also, the location of Schools encourages parents to enroll their children in Public Secondary Schools. The study concluded that Physical working conditions and school location are effective tool for educational development in general, has a positive impact on the students ‘academic performance. It recommended among others that Federal Capital Education Board Abuja and other Government agencies urgently need to upgrade teaching facilities to meet up with modern demands of secondary school education. Digital facilities should be provided in schools. While the schools’ managers on their part should also try to maintain and manage them very well, also Public Secondary Schools should be located in an area that can provide adequate Playgrounds, gardens and common rooms to enable the students have good recreational activities. And all stakeholders in the school system like Parents, Teachers Association (PTA) have a duty to rise up and contribute to upgrade School facilities in Bwari Area Council of Abuja.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) determine the level of students' spatial ability at Van Hiele's level in problem-based learning. (2) to find out the location of the students' difficulties in solving spatial power problems with the Van Hiele level. This research is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of this study were students of class XII SMK Bima Utomo Batang Kuis. The object of this research is the spatial ability based on Van Hiele's level in Problem Based Learning. The results of this study indicate that the level of spatial ability in the low category reaches 51.4%, while the medium category reaches 34.3%, and the high category reaches 14.3%. Subjects in the low category experienced skill difficultiesSubject S.01 (low spatial ability), at Level 1 experienced skill difficulties (question number 1) and concept difficulty (question number 4), at Level 2 experienced skill difficulties, at Level 3 and Level 4 experienced difficulty in principle. Subject S.02 (low spatial ability), has difficulty skills at Level 2 and has difficulty in principle at Level 3 and Level 4. Subject S.03 (moderate spatial ability), has difficulty in principle at Level 3 and Level 4. Subject S. 04 (moderate spatial ability), has difficulty skills at Level 3 and has difficulty in principle at Level 4. Subject S.05 (high spatial ability), has difficulty in principle at Level 4. Subject S.06 (high spatial ability), has difficulty principles at Level 4.Based on the results of this study, it is expected to be an inspiration for users.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate: (1) the difference in the effect of STAD type cooperative learning model and jigsaw type on the fifth grade student learning outcomes at Cinta Rakyat state primary school, (2) the difference in learning outcomes between students with high social skills and low social skills at grade five and (3) the interaction between cooperative learning approaches and social skills on the learning outcomes of fifth grade students of state primary school. This research is a quasi experimental research. The population of this study is students in class V1, V2, V3 at Cinta Rakyat state primary school. The sample in this study is class Va for the experimental class that is taught by using STAD type cooperative learning and the control class is Vb which is taught by using jigsaw type cooperative learning. The results show that: (1) the learning outcomes of students who are taught by STAD cooperative learning, 25.70. It is greater than students who are taught by jigsaw cooperative learning, it is 21.83, (2) the learning outcomes of students taught using high social skills obtains an average score of 25.07, while the learning outcomes of students who use low social skills obtains an average score of 22.63, and (3) there is no significant interaction between the use of learning and students' social skills (high, and low) in influencing learning outcomes.
