Abstract

This research should be done to find out how to explore and understand the contents of the text (Instinbāth pattern) of waqf legal money from the perspective of Imam Abi Hanifah. This research rests on the Instinbāth theory of Islamic law in establishing laws for the next generation. The library research uses descriptive analytical methods. The approach used in this study is referring to usul fiqh and Maqāshid al-Syāri'ah. These two approaches are used to analyze how the pattern of Instinbāth of law, as well as the constructs of the fiqh thought of Imam Abi Hanifah. From this study it can be concluded that: the pattern of istinbāth of Imam Abu Hanifah, first, in terms of coverage of nāsh from the three sources of waqf law (Q.S al-Māidah: 103, the narrative of Ibn Masūd, and the hadith of ibn 'Abbās)) dhahir lafadh al-nāsh shows the lack of encouragement of muamalah by carrying out the action of "al-Habsu" (waqf), because he can match the habits of Arab Jahiliyah who are used to the practice of Bahira, Sāibah, Washīlah, and Hām as explained in the Qur'an. Both istinbāth al-Ma'āny, through the approach: Isyārah al-Nāsh, dilālah al-Nāsh, and Iqtidhā 'al-Nāsh (analysis of the relevance of the meaning) according to Imam Abu Hanifah it can be understood that mu'amalah waqf does not contain' luzūm contract '( where an object that has been represented remains in the possessor's ownership with his tasharruf rights). On the basis of this istinbāth according to Imam Abu Hanifah cash may be represented, because in principle the mawqūf (waqf object) remains in the power of belonging to the apostle.

Abstract

Maternal and Newborn Health is a priority as the main indicator in health. During the pregnancy period until the puerperium it is estimated that as many as 15% can experience life-threatening complications of the mother and baby. However, this death is considered to be prevented through the provision of comprehensive care that can be done with the One Student One Client (OSOC) approach, which is an activity that exists between low-risk pregnant women and midwife students during pregnancy up to 6 weeks post delivery. Objective: This study aims to assess the relationship of comprehensive midwifery care with the One Student One Client (OSOC) approach to birth outcomes (gestational age at delivery, prolonged labor and asphyxia) Method: This study is a retrospective cohort study, using secondary data from medical record documentation Results: Comprehensive midwifery care with the OSOC approach was associated with the occurrence of prolonged labor p value 0.046 (RR 95% CI; 3.2 (1.08-9.74), asphyxia with p value 0.037 (RR 95% CI; 2.57 1.12-6.50) Conclusion: The OSOC method can be used in comprehensive midwifery care for all mothers and babies from pregnancy up to 6 weeks post delivery in an effort to improve birth outcomes.

Abstract

The Sunggal War that occurred from 1872 to 1879 was the first war of the people against Dutch’s colonialism in North Sumatera. This war was started by then Sultan Deli who gave away land concession that belongs to the leaders of Sunggal to the Dutch farming company. This enraged these leaders and started a war listed in colonial archive as “Batak Oorlog”. Historical references of the Sunggal War from Erwiza Erman, Luckman Sinar, Ratna and others are not sufficient enough in addressing local leadership issues in Sunggal in leading the army, as well as how it affects the economy and land owning pattern in East Sumatera which was the primary cause of war. The Sunggal leaders also managed to tie a coalition with the local ethnicity, among them were the Hai, Malay, Aceh and Gayo. As a result, the Dutch were forced to build the Labuhan Deli port to ease their army’s activity in winning the war. In turn, Labuhan Deli had become the main contributor to East Sumatera’s economic growth. The Sunggal War also gave good experience on how to handle land owning issues in the eastern prefecture. This article is a research financed by Research Board USU/BP-PTN 2016. Historical methods were used in the colonial archive in ANRI through economical and conflict approach. The issue is addressed in this article in search for local’s wisdom and orally transmitted knowledge of the Sunggal War, particularly on the traditional leadership and conflict management in Deli, East Sumatera.

Abstract

ForoughFarrokhzad and Sylvia Plath’s poems are closely linked to their personal life and their marriage. Their poems are confessional in style. Farrokhzad criticizes Iranian male dominant society in which women are marginalized and haven’t any voice in the society, so seeking their voice and identity in modern literature, especially in modern Persian poetry. Sylvia Plath attempts to resist patriarchy in her society through her poems too. Two poets highlighting and expressing the lack of interest in life and the sole desire to die in most of their poems. Not only poetic imagery and themes like death, frustration and failure are common points that convey pessimistic views in their poems, but also few of their poems convey optimistic elements of life and hope so this paper is going to explain them too. Farrokhzad and Plath, two contemporary female poets, attempted to gain a voice for women in their country. They are considered as the successful feminist voices in their countries and astonishingly share the same themes and issues in their poetry. The present paper aims to highlight characteristics of confessional poetry and elaborate on concepts of love, death, rebirth and patriarchy in ForoughFarrokhzad and Sylvia Plath’s poems.

Abstract

Language, Social identity and Religion are three major concerns of cultural studies. Language in literary texts plays a major role in constructing meaning and reflecting the author`s intention. Likewise religion as a cultural politics is a dominant factor in shaping mind as well in affecting the framework of literary text. Religion is one of the emerging issues in the modern era and forms the backbone of most literary works. Religion as a theme is seen to influence the operation of those who believe in it. It forms the functional framework that predetermines ones actions and behavior. Furthermore, social identity decides on the status of the social class and their material life situation.  Social identity relates to how we identify ourselves in relation to others according to what we have in common. All these issues are interrelated since they all cooperate and construct a social and cultural materiality. James Joyce could be placed among the most dominant cultural authors whose concern is the material life, social class, social identity and cultural crisis. As an outstanding author, Joyce is well known for his typical depiction, musical decoration as well as his sticking to proper cultural and social materials and issues such as religious matters. His major short story collection, Dubliners, revolves around the lifestyle of the Irish middle-class in Dublin around the late 1800s and early 1900s. This collection is decorated with violated norms and ritualistic behavior that are part of social constructs. Addressing social, religious and cultural issues, cultural materialists believe that “literature can serve as an agent of change”, since a culture`s hegemony is unstable. Raymond Williams views culture as a “productive process” that is, part of the means of production, and cultural materialism often identifies what he called “residual”, “emergent” and “oppositional” cultural elements. Seemingly, James Joyce`s Dubliners pertains to the notion of language, social identity and religion as cultural practices within the framework of cultural materialism. This study aims to clarify how James Joyce`s Dubliners reflects the notions of language, social identity and religion as cultural practices and how they construct social and cultural products within the framework of cultural materialism to show how James Joyce criticizes Irish culture at the beginning of the Twentieth century.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the implementation of a practical guide to interact with a virtual laboratory model on students' understanding of practicing on hydrocarbon materials. Students' understanding is included in the dimensions of cognitive and affective processes. This research was conducted at the Percut Sei Tuan Pure Pure Private High School in the odd semester of the 2018/2019 school year. The research method used was quasi experimental design with pretest-posttest control group design. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique. The sample in the study were students of class XI MIA 2 as an experimental group with learning using virtual laboratories and students of class XI MIA 1 as a control group using conventional learning. The sample in each group amounted to 36 people. Data retrieval is done using a description of students' concept understanding. Data analysis using independent sample T-Test test obtained t count of 3.021 with t table 2.045 means that t count> t table and significant value 0.004 <0.05. Then Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted at a significant level of 0.05 so it is concluded that there is a significant difference between the average posttest value of the experimental group and the control group. This shows that there is an effect of applying virtual laboratories to students' concept understanding.

Abstract

This paper attempts to investigate significations of the tropes of whiteness and blackness in white American culture in Baraka`s play, The Dutchman. . Gramsci is concerned with how one views man in history. His point is that men determine history rather than the reverse and this history is determined by the way in which men produce their means of subsistence. Man therefore is a social and “material” entity since. By producing their means of subsistence men are indirectly producing their actual material life.   Man’s ability to produce, the means of production, and the product produced, therefore, are central to man’s ability to be self-determined, to be real rather than an abstraction, a concept. It is in man’s reality, a reification brought about by the conscious act of production that he establishes his humanity. Marx’s humanism, therefore, is social in that man produces for more than himself; it is material in the “mode of production.” By material is not meant “psychic motivation” towards material goods. Based on the Gramsci hegemony, the black man has no history, he must create it; more importantly, since, according to Baraka, “Negro Literature” can never emerge from black consciousness unless it separates itself from the pre-established conditions, the literature must create and define itself in the process of becoming.
