Abstract

General Background: Bullying is a pervasive issue in educational settings, often resulting in physical and psychological harm to victims. It typically arises from a power imbalance, with aggressors seeking personal satisfaction through intimidation. Specific Background: This study addresses the effectiveness of psychoeducational interventions aimed at improving assertive communication skills among junior high school students, specifically at SMPN 5 Sidoarjo, to prevent bullying behaviors. Knowledge Gap: While previous research has explored bullying prevention strategies, there is limited empirical evidence demonstrating the impact of assertive communication training in Indonesian junior high schools. Aims: This research aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured psychoeducational program on students’ understanding and application of assertive communication to mitigate bullying. Results: Utilizing a quantitative experimental design with pre-test and post-test assessments, the study reveals a statistically significant improvement in assertive communication skills, evidenced by a Wilcoxon signed-rank test (p = 0.001) and a large effect size (r = 0.898). Novelty: This study contributes novel insights into the role of assertive communication training as a proactive approach to bullying prevention within the Indonesian educational context. Implications: The findings suggest that psychoeducational programs can effectively enhance students’ assertive communication abilities, highlighting the need for continuous training to deepen understanding and application. Ongoing psychoeducational efforts are recommended to foster a supportive and respectful school environment, ultimately reducing bullying incidents. Abstract

General Background: Culture is a dynamic method that evolves within communities, shaping their identities and practices. Specific Background: This study focuses on the ritual communication involved in the traditional art of Jaranan Branasti Putro, originating from Ringinsari village in Kediri Regency, Indonesia. Jaranan is a performance art infused with mystical elements, often featured in celebratory events. Knowledge Gap: While the significance of ritual communication in traditional arts is recognized, comprehensive analysis of its role in Jaranan performances remains underexplored. Aims: This research aims to investigate the various stages of ritual communication in Jaranan Branasti Putro and their impact on audience appreciation. Results: Utilizing a descriptive qualitative method, the study collected data through purposive sampling interviews, documentation, and observations, revealing that ritual communication is not only central to the performance but also contributes to the overall entertainment value of Jaranan. Novelty: This research highlights the dual nature of Jaranan art as both a mystical and entertaining practice, emphasizing the importance of community involvement in sustaining this cultural expression. Implications: The findings underscore the need for continued support and engagement within the community to preserve the Jaranan Branasti Putro tradition, ensuring its relevance and accessibility for future generations. Abstract

The general background infrastructure development is fundamental for enhancing the quality of life and economic prospects in rural communities. Specific background in Indonesia, institutions such as Lembaga Pemberdayaan Masyarakat Desa (LPMD) are pivotal in facilitating this process. Knowledge gap despite their critical role, there is a scarcity of research addressing the specific contributions of LPMD to infrastructure projects at the village level. Aims This study aims to bridge this knowledge gap by investigating the involvement of LPMD in the planning, implementation, and supervision of infrastructure development within a village context. The Results Utilizing a descriptive qualitative approach, the results indicate that LPMD actively engages in project implementation, proposes community-based programs, and oversees project execution to ensure accountability and transparency. Novelty This research contributes novel insights into the diverse roles played by LPMD, showcasing both active and passive participation in infrastructure initiatives. The implications highlight the necessity for local governments to recognize and strengthen the involvement of LPMD in development processes, ensuring that community perspectives are effectively integrated into planning and execution, which may lead to more sustainable and impactful infrastructure development in rural settings. Abstract

Background: Effective political communication strategies are crucial for enhancing public engagement. Specific Background: This study explores the qualitative communication strategies used by a local political party during the Indonesia Smart Program (PIP) scholarship distribution, contrasting it with quantitative approaches that focus on numerical data. Knowledge Gap: Existing literature lacks insights on how qualitative methods, particularly direct interviews, can inform community engagement and program visibility. Aims: The research aims to analyze DPD Golkar Sidoarjo's communication strategies using primary interviews and secondary campaign materials. Results: Findings show that the party successfully utilized various media to increase visibility and transparency of the PIP, leading to significant community involvement through initiatives like KIPK. Novelty: This study highlights how qualitative approaches can deepen understanding of political communication's impact on community perceptions. Abstract

The general background the empowerment of farmers is crucial for improving their welfare and ensuring sustainable agricultural development. Specific background This study focuses on the role of Farmer Group Associations (GAPOKTAN) in Dukuhsari Village as a platform for farmer empowerment. Knowledge gap Despite the recognized importance of farmer groups in community development, there is limited understanding of how these associations function to enhance farmers' welfare in specific contexts. Aims the research aims to analyze and describe the effectiveness of GAPOKTAN in empowering farmers within Dukuhsari Village. Results the findings indicate that GAPOKTAN has successfully facilitated the fulfillment of farmers' basic needs, improved access to resources, and fostered critical awareness among farmers. Participation of farmers in group activities has been instrumental in enhancing their involvement in agricultural management and empowerment processes. Novelty this study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the operational mechanisms of GAPOKTAN in a local context, highlighting its multifaceted role in promoting welfare among farmers. Implications the results suggest that strengthening GAPOKTAN and similar associations can lead to more effective agricultural policies and community development initiatives, ultimately contributing to better living standards for farmers and sustainable agricultural practices. Abstract

General background: Mascots serve as effective visual identity elements for various organizations to convey character uniquely. Specific background: The Communication Science Study Program at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sidoarjo (UMSIDA) uses "Si Kombi," a character blending human and butterfly features, in colors representing the program's identity. Knowledge gap: Limited research exists on mascots' role in academic branding and public engagement. Aims: This study evaluates "Si Kombi" as a visual tool for building the program's brand and attracting interest. Results: The mascot’s design features two-dimensional elements with dominant colors, enhancing recognition and appeal among potential students. Novelty: Integrating a mascot into academic branding offers a fresh approach to promoting study programs. Abstract

General Background: The rise of technology and internet use has significantly influenced shopping behaviors in Indonesia, particularly with the growth of online shopping. Specific Background: Factors such as price, marketing communication, and e-commerce services are essential in shaping consumer purchasing decisions in this digital space. Knowledge Gap: Limited research has examined the combined impact of these variables on online purchase intentions. Aims: This study investigates the effects of price, marketing communication, and e-commerce services on consumer purchasing intentions. Results: Using a quantitative approach with 96 respondents, the analysis reveals that all independent variables significantly influence consumer purchase intentions in online shopping. Novelty: This research integrates multiple influencing factors into a single study, emphasizing their collective impact. Implications: Findings indicate that e-commerce platforms should focus on competitive pricing, effective marketing strategies, and quality services to enhance consumer purchase intentions, contributing to a thriving online retail environment. Abstract: The advancement of digital technology emphasizes the importance of management information systems in enhancing efficiency in health care. General Background: Integrated Health Posts (Posyandu) are crucial facilities at the village level, focusing on preventive health efforts. Specific Background: In Ganggang Panjang Village, queuing issues and manual data processing hinder Posyandu cadres, leading to inefficiencies. Knowledge Gap: Existing literature lacks tailored solutions for the unique challenges faced by Posyandu in rural areas. Aims: This study aims to design a digital-based Posyandu service system to streamline data collection, recording, and reporting. Results: Using Agile Web Development, the proposed system is browser-accessible, significantly improving operational efficiency through a functional website developed in PHP and JavaScript. Abstract

General Background: Stunting is a significant public health issue that adversely affects child growth and development, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia, leading to increased morbidity and mortality rates. Specific Background: In Kedung Peluk Village, Sidoarjo Regency, the Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT) was implemented to combat stunting, but its effectiveness remains uncertain. Knowledge Gap: There is limited research evaluating the specific effectiveness of PMT in this context, necessitating a thorough examination. Aims: This study analyzes the effectiveness of PMT in preventing stunting in Kedung Peluk Village, focusing on indicators such as target accuracy and program understanding. Results: While PMT is well-targeted and timely, many community members lack understanding of stunting prevention. Although the number of stunted children decreased from 15 to 9, awareness of nutritional needs remains low. Novelty: This research offers new insights into PMT's effectiveness in a rural setting, highlighting community perceptions. Implications: The findings emphasize the need for improved educational initiatives to enhance community understanding and engagement, ultimately aiming to reduce stunting rates. Abstract

The general background while community empowerment is widely studied, the specific contributions of PKK remain underexplored. Specific background this study focuses on PKK's role in Tambak Kalisogo Village, particularly within sustainable community empowerment programs. Knowledge Gap Existing literature lacks a comprehensive analysis of PKK's multifaceted role in community development initiatives. Aims this research aims to elucidate the various roles of PKK, including its functions as a motivator, facilitator, mobilizer, and regulator in community empowerment. Results the findings reveal that PKK effectively organizes activities, provides guidance in food processing, ensures quality in production, and complies with governmental regulations, thus significantly impacting community welfare. Novelty this research contributes to the field by presenting a detailed examination of PKK's diverse functions in fostering community development and enhancing the economic capabilities of women. Implications Strengthening PKK's initiatives can further improve community welfare, encouraging women's participation in economic activities, and leading to more prosperous and resilient families.
