Abstract

In the digital age, online dating applications have revolutionized the way young adults form romantic connections, providing both opportunities and challenges. Understanding the psychological impacts of these platforms is crucial. Young adults, while navigating romantic pursuits and various developmental challenges, are susceptible to feelings of loneliness. Dating anxiety is a significant factor that can exacerbate loneliness within this demographic. Moreover, gender differences may influence individuals' experiences in dating situations. This research aims to explore the relationship between dating anxiety and loneliness among users of dating applications and to examine the role of gender as a moderating variable in this relationship. The study employs a quantitative correlational approach, incorporating demographic data and two scales: the Dating Anxiety Scale and the UCLA Loneliness Scale 3. The research participants consist of 250 early adults aged 20-34 who actively use online dating applications. Data analysis involves descriptive analysis and moderation analysis using the Jamovi software. The research findings indicate a significant direct relationship between dating anxiety and loneliness (p less than 0.001). Furthermore, gender was found to have no significant impact on loneliness (p more than 0.05), and the interaction between dating anxiety and gender was not significant (p more than 0.05). This suggests a uniform impact among both genders in the relationship between dating anxiety and loneliness. The study highlights the complex dynamics influencing loneliness among online dating application users. The findings enhance theoretical understanding of how dating anxiety relates to loneliness. Practically, these insights can help developers create features that reduce anxiety and loneliness. Future research should identify other factors influencing these dynamics to further enrich theoretical and practical knowledge in this field.

Abstract

Medical personnel is a profession with a high workload. High work demands can lead to a decline in physical and emotional health. An in-depth understanding of the impact of workload on health, especially mental health, is crucial to implementing measures for their well-being. This literature review aims to gather and compare available information to produce an apparent picture of the mental health of medical personnel and influencing factors. A comprehensive search was conducted utilizing a variety of electronic databases, including Scopus, Science Direct, Springer Link, ProQuest, EBSCO, MED-LINE, and Google Scholar. The literature search focused on papers assessed with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyzes (PRISMA) methodology. We identified 16 studies that reported the criteria for in-depth analysis. The study concluded that overburdened medical personnel are prone to burnout, which in turn has the potential to lead to mental health problems. Common disorders are burnout, depression, anxiety, and abnormal stress. Further research sourced from internal individuals needs to be done so that it is expected to be more robust and consistent, considering that medical personnel are very likely to work in more than one institution during the process.

Abstract

The quality of teacher-student relationships has a profound impact on the learning process and outcomes, particularly in culturally diverse contexts like Indonesia. In Indonesian secondary schools, where cultural characteristics such as power distance and collectivism shape interactions, enhancing teacher-student relationships through effective communication strategies is crucial. This study aims to identify and analyze communication strategies that are most appropriate for fostering interpersonal relationships in Indonesian secondary schools. Using a qualitative literature review method, following PRISMA guidelines, this study synthesizes 22 communication behaviors from existing literature, which were categorized into four main themes: care, immediacy, clarity, and disclosure. Notably, while the strategies of care, immediacy, and clarity align with previous research and are adapted to the Indonesian cultural context, the study found a significant lack of teacher disclosure, a critical strategy for building close interpersonal relationships. This gap suggests that cultural factors such as high power distance may inhibit the use of disclosure as a relational tool in Indonesian classrooms. The study’s findings provide practical implications for teachers aiming to improve their communication practices, suggesting that culturally appropriate strategies, particularly in balancing authority and relational closeness, are necessary to foster stronger interpersonal connections with students.

Abstract

Bullying among adolescents remains a critical issue that affects students' psychological and social well-being. This study analyzes the effectiveness of various school-based interventions in reducing bullying behavior and identifies key factors influencing their success. Utilizing a systematic literature review approach, this study examines research published between 2019 and 2024 from databases such as ScienceDirect, Garuda, and SpringerLink. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal checklist and the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), version 2018, were employed to assess study quality. The findings indicate that school-based interventions are effective when they emphasize relationship-building, empathy, and holistic involvement of all school stakeholders. Consistent program implementation, teacher training, and parental engagement play a crucial role in intervention success. However, challenges such as limited resources, inadequate teacher training, and cultural resistance hinder program effectiveness. Additionally, the study highlights that while interventions improve students' affective empathy, cognitive empathy remains underdeveloped, suggesting the need for more targeted approaches. Practical recommendations include the integration of social-emotional learning in school curricula, teacher professional development programs, and culturally adapted interventions. Policymakers should establish sustainable anti-bullying policies with clear guidelines for intervention and support mechanisms. Future research should explore long-term intervention impacts, digital-based anti-bullying strategies, and the role of genetic and cultural factors in bullying behavior. This study enriches the existing literature by emphasizing the importance of localized, evidence-based intervention strategies tailored to different educational and cultural contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to adapt Wang and Wang’s Artificial Intelligence Anxiety Scale (2019) into the context of Indonesian culture and language. The research involved 222 respondents, consisting of 89 males and 133 females, aged between 15 and over 35 years old. The adaptation process followed six stages: (1) initial translations by translators with different backgrounds, (2) synthesis of the translations into a single version, (3) back-translation by native speakers of the source language, (4) content validation by an expert committee, (5) testing the pre-final version on relevant subjects, and (6) submission of documentation for evaluation. Reliability testing was conducted using Cronbach’s alpha, while logical validity was assessed with Aiken’s V and construct validity using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). The results indicated that the adapted scale had high reliability, with a Cronbach’s alpha value of 0.916, and adequate validity, with an Aiken’s V value greater than 0.50. The confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated a good model fit, with an RMSEA value of 0.066, CFI of 0.938, and TLI of 0.927. The Indonesian version of the Artificial Intelligence Anxiety Scale is deemed valid and reliable, making it suitable for use in Indonesia

Abstract

The Bugis-Makassar tribes are two large tribes from South Sulawesi, Indonesia, renowned for their migration tradition. Many Buginese-Makassarese young people continue this tradition by seeking better educational opportunities outside their hometown. This study aims to explore the social identity of Buginese-Makassarese migrant students in foreign cities. Using a qualitative research design with a phenomenological approach and interpretive paradigm, data was collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic analysis, which resulted in five key themes. The findings reveal that Buginese-Makassarese migrant students feel secure in revealing their social identity, as they maintain a positive balance in their relations with both ingroups and outgroups. They display strong cohesiveness and empathy when interacting within the ingroup and exhibit self-esteem, tolerance, and effective adaptation when engaging with the outgroup. Notably, the cultural values of siri’ na pacce—which emphasize dignity, empathy, and mutual support—play a crucial role in shaping their social identity and promoting psychological well-being. These values contribute significantly to the student’s self-concept and their ability to navigate complex social interactions in a new environment. This study provides valuable insights into how migrant students, particularly from the Buginese-Makassarese ethnic group, can adjust and maintain their cultural values while adapting to life in different cities.

Abstract

This study examines how organizational culture influences innovative work behavior (IWB) in Indonesian small and medium enterprises (SMEs), focusing on the mediating role of perceived organizational support (POS). A survey of 296 SME employees, with 185 valid responses analyzed, shows that a culture emphasizing collaboration, adaptability, and employee empowerment significantly enhances innovation. However, POS does not mediate this relationship, indicating that cultural factors have a more direct impact. These findings highlight the need for SME managers to foster a workplace that encourages creativity, risk-taking, and knowledge-sharing to enhance innovation capacity. By embedding these cultural elements, SMEs can improve competitiveness despite resource constraints. The study contributes to the broader understanding of SME innovation in non-Western contexts, offering practical insights for leaders aiming to build innovation-driven organizations. Strengthening organizational culture can serve as a strategic approach to drive sustainable growth and resilience in the dynamic business landscape.

Abstract

Given the affective turn in the second-language (L2) research and the vital roles of L2 grit and L2 hope in learners’ academic achievement, this quantitative study aimed to explore Chinese senior high students’ L2 grit and L2 hope and examine whether there were possible correlations among the two variables and their components. 335 Chinese senior high students completed the questionnaire. Participants reported moderate levels of global L2 grit and L2 hope, but high levels of consistency of interest (COI). Additionally, no statistically significant gender difference could be observed among variables under investigation, while a statistically significant grade-level difference emerged in global L2 grit and global L2 hope, particularly in perseverance of effort (POE) and pathway. Furthermore, global L2 grit positively correlated with global L2 hope with a small-to-medium effect size. Among components of global L2 grit, POE exhibited the strongest association with L2 hope and its components. These findings extend the positive psychology framework in L2 research by highlighting the close link between L2 grit and L2 hope. Practically, the results suggest that English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) instructors, particularly within the high-intensity examination-oriented educational settings, should spotlight EFL learners’ positive psychological traits in daily teaching practices to promote learners’ well-being during their learning journey.

Abstract

Parenting fatigue is a multifaceted phenomenon characterized by chronic physical, emotional, and psychological exhaustion stemming from the unrelenting demands of raising children. This critical review synthesizes empirical findings on the intersections of parenting fatigue, sexual intimacy, and religious coping strategies, with particular attention to cultural and gender dynamics. Results consistently indicate that elevated levels of parenting fatigue correlate with decreased marital satisfaction, diminished libido, and weakened emotional connectivity between partners, often intensifying the risk of long-term relational and mental health complications. Although religious coping—through prayer, communal worship, and faith-based practices—can alleviate stress and bolster resilience, its effectiveness varies significantly across cultural contexts and personal beliefs. Many studies highlight a bias toward traditional family structures and maternal experiences, signalling a shortage of research on fathers, non-traditional families, and diverse religious or spiritual frameworks. The review also uncovers methodological gaps, including limited longitudinal research, insufficient cross-cultural comparisons, and an overemphasis on adverse outcomes to the neglect of positive dimensions such as marital resilience and spiritual growth. Overall, this paper advocates for more inclusive, longitudinal, and culturally sensitive investigations and integrated interventions addressing mental and sexual health. By illuminating the complexity of parenting fatigue and its ripple effects on sexual intimacy and coping mechanisms, this review offers valuable insights for designing culturally attuned mental health and family interventions that holistically support parents and couples. Clinicians can leverage this evidence to develop integrative therapeutic approaches, while policymakers can use it to inform inclusive programs that strengthen diverse family structures—promoting both psychological well-being and relational health.
