Abstract

Students who have good learning behavior will be good learners in the future. It is essential to identify the influence of educational background and parental school qualifications on students' learning behavior, which is part of the child's progress in the future. Thus, the main objective of this study is to explore the influence of educational background and parental school qualifications on students' learning behavior. This study adopted a comparative causal study with a 4 x 3 factorial design and used a purposive sampling method. The sample consisted of 430 students from educational backgrounds whose parents graduated from elementary, junior high, high school, and undergraduate, and from schools with superior, very good, and good qualifications. Exploration of educational background and parental school qualifications was carried out on the learning behavior of low-class students. Data were collected through a three-part questionnaire on parental educational background, students' school qualifications, and a learning behavior assessment scale. The results show that parental background influences students' learning behavior, but school qualifications do not. However, school qualifications can support good learning behavior changes.

Abstract

The research aims to explore how these values are embodied through tradition and how they influence the community. Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method, the study collects data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Topat War tradition effectively embodies the values of Pancasila divinity, humanity, unity, democracy, and justice in its preparation and execution. These values are evident during the celebration and permeate the daily lives of the local community. The study concludes that the continuity of the Topat War tradition is maintained as the community upholds Pancasila values without altering the essence of their local wisdom, despite modernization. The tradition is now recognized internationally as part of the Nusantara Event Charm. This research contributes to understanding how local traditions can be a medium for actualizing national values, offering insights into integrating cultural practices with national ideology and preserving cultural heritage.

Abstract

Children are vulnerable to sexual crimes around them. Children should know the dangers of sexual and how to protect themselves. Education related to sexual education and reproductive health in its implementation requires media that can be accessed by all children in Indonesia, including children with disabilities. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of educational media, KatakLarita, in increasing knowledge of sexual safety and security protection for deaf children. The respondents for this research were deaf children from four schools of special deaf in Bali. The method used in this research is paired t-test analysis, which aims to determine the difference in the level of knowledge before and after being given the procedure treatment. The results of the t-test show that the p-value score is 0.000004, and there is a mean difference between the pre-test and post-test data. The results of the Cohen-d score, which was greater than 0.8 (Statistical Power), concluded that the difference in the mean of the two data was significant enough so that it could be interpreted that the treatment given to this group was able to increase the participant's average knowledge. THE video educational media KatakLarita contributes to helping increase children’s knowledge, including deaf children, about efforts to protect themselves from sexual crimes.

Abstract

In early childhood education, traditional dance instruction often relies heavily on imitation and structured routines, potentially limiting children's creative development. Recent research suggests that more open-ended, expressive approaches may better foster creativity and movement exploration in young learners. This case study investigates applying a free-expression approach in dance learning to develop children's creativity in kindergarten, which addresses the critical need to move away from imitative teaching methods. The research utilized a qualitative case study methodology. Data were collected through observations of eight teaching sessions recorded in field notes, interviews with teachers conducted in a semi-structured manner, the data recorded as interview notes, and document collection whose results were recorded as documentation notes. The data collection also involved student subjects of nine children aged five to six years for four weeks. The data were then analyzed using Milles and Huberman's flow, which consisted of data collection, reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Data validity was guaranteed through observation, interviews, and triangulation of document studies. The results showed that the implementation process successfully passed through three phases (initial resistance, progressive integration, and emergent synthesis), indicating an effective teacher transition from demonstrator to facilitator. The pattern of children's creativity development varied based on their movement background. Analysis of creativity indicators showed measurable progress across all four dimensions (fluency, flexibility, originality, and elaboration), mainly when supported by appropriate environmental modifications. However, the systematic documentation of the implementation process provides a valuable framework that other institutions can adapt for their specific contexts while suggesting directions for future research in developing appropriate assessment tools for early childhood education.

Abstract

Migrant students need adjustments to their new environment. Yogyakarta is one of the cities that prospective students can visit to continue their education. With the culture in Yogyakarta, migrant students need self-adjustment skills to balance life in society and university. This study aims to analyze the influence of self-regulation, homesickness, and culture shock on the self-adjustment of first-year migrant students in Yogyakarta. The method used is a quantitative correlation with an infinite population and a sample of 349 people. Data collection uses a self-regulation scale, homesickness scale, culture shock scale, and self-adjustment scale, with data analysis using multiple linear regression analysis accompanied by classical assumption tests. This study concludes that self-regulation, homesickness, and culture shock significantly influence the self-adjustment of first-year migrant students in Yogyakarta, where conceptually, each variable has a positive and negative influence that affects one another. In this study, self-regulation has a positive influence. In contrast, homesickness and culture shock have a negative influence, which means that the better a person's self-regulation, the more homesickness decreases, and the more culture shock a person feels, the better a person's self-adjustment.  From these findings, it is also hoped that new students, especially students who have just migrated to an area, can optimize their abilities by being aware of themselves and their environment. Adjustment speed and accuracy are needed to facilitate activities in the community and the college environment so that new students can adapt well and optimize their abilities.

Abstract

Financial literacy is an essential skill that enables students to manage their finances effectively. However, a significant gap in financial literacy among junior high school students highlights the need for innovative teaching materials. This study aimed to enhance students' financial literacy through the Project-Based Learning (PBL) model. The research employed a Research and Development (RD) approach using the 4D development model by Thiagarajan. Two expert lecturers validated the teaching module, and two ninth-grade junior high school teachers evaluated its effectiveness. Data analysis utilized qualitative descriptive techniques and descriptive statistics to assess validation results and teacher responses. The findings revealed that the teaching materials achieved high validity, with an average Aiken's V score of 0.90 (Highly valid) for material aspects and 0.89 (Highly valid) for language aspects. Teacher feedback indicated a positive response, with an average score of 85.25% (Very Good). These results demonstrate the success of culturally contextualized teaching materials, specifically those based on Banjar community values, in improving students' financial literacy. This research contributes to educational science by integrating cultural elements into financial literacy education, offering a model for developing impactful and contextually relevant teaching resources.

Abstract

Indonesia is a developing country that cannot be separated from areas far behind regarding access to technology. Thus, community-based education is important to accommodate the lack of access to technology. This research aims to analyze the distance learning model that Universitas Terbuka has implemented to improve students' learning outcomes. This research uses mixed methods. This research involved 75 Universitas Terbuka students. The results of this study provide an overview related to the learning model used and the influence of the learning model on student learning outcomes. In addition, the results of this study show that students who take online classes and use flipped classroom learning media have higher t-test scores than students who take online classes and YouTube video learning media. This study concludes that community-based education is not only limited to empowerment but also advancing the quality of learning through technology-based innovation.
