Abstract

This study is inspired by the relevance of positive social attitudes in developing harmonious connections with others, including peers, family, and society. The study examines how differentiated digital media, grounded in Balinese folklore and cultural values, influence the social perspectives of elementary school students. The research method adopted is quantitative, with an experimental component. The study's findings indicate that utilizing digital media rooted in Balinese culture, particularly through folklore, significantly enhances students' social attitudes, including helping one another, empathy, tolerance, peaceful living, and social participation. These improvements are closely tied to the cultural messages embedded in the stories. The results support earlier research that folklore, as a cultural artifact with strong moral messages, can shape future behavior. This study highlights the importance of integrating cultural heritage into digital learning tools to build moral and social values. The recommended steps include producing more culturally-based educational resources, providing teacher training to apply culturally-rich materials, and conducting further studies to evaluate the long-term impact of folklore-based digital media on character education.

Abstract

Early marriage remains a global concern, hindering the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly gender equality. This practice causes a variety of health problems and violates girls' fundamental human rights, including the right to decide when and whom they will marry. This study evaluates the effectiveness of a short film intervention titled RABI (Remaja Anti Bertindak Nikah Dini), which integrates local wisdom to improve knowledge and attitudes regarding early marriage prevention among adolescent girls in Lumajang, Indonesia. A quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design was used, involving 137 junior and senior high school students from the Puskesmas Rogotrunan. The intervention consisted of a pre-test, a short film screening, and a post-test. Results revealed a significant improvement in students' post-test scores, with a Wilcoxon test p-value of 0.000, indicating the effectiveness of the intervention. The integration of local wisdom in educational videos enhanced message acceptance and comprehension. The contribution of this research to science is that the results can serve as a reference in health education and efforts to prevent early marriage, thereby improving the knowledge and attitudes of adolescents and contributing to the reduction of early marriages and enhancement of adolescent health. This approach can serve as a relevant medium for adolescent education, requiring further implementation with region-specific adjustments. Collaboration between governments, educational institutions, and communities is crucial to reducing early marriage rates in Indonesia.

Abstract

Every student pursuing studies in a foreign country is highly likely to encounter challenges related to cultural shock, as they must adapt to an environment and regulations that differ from those of their home country. The process of adapting to a cross-cultural environment is critically important for students participating in international exchange programs. This process becomes significantly easier when individuals possess a high level of cultural intelligence and are supported by pre-departure training activities that provide comprehensive information on all necessary preparations for studying abroad. This study employs a quantitative approach, measured through multiple linear regression analysis, by sampling 105 students from Universitas Padjadjaran who participated in the IISMA and IISMAVO programs in 2022. The results of this study indicate that cultural intelligence and pre-departure training have a positive influence on cross-cultural adjustment. This research provides new insights and perspectives in the field of human resource management, particularly in organizational behavior, regarding the relationship between cultural intelligence and pre-departure training on cross-cultural adjustment. It serves as a reference for conducting more in-depth future studies.

Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is designed to provide flexibility and autonomy for schools in Indonesia to create learning experiences that align with local contexts and the individual needs of students. Education plays a vital role in integrating local potential and wisdom to achieve relevance at both the local and individual levels. Indonesia's rich cultural heritage offers numerous opportunities for integration into learning; however, many of these potentials remain underexplored and underutilized in scientific educational contexts. This study aims to identify and examine the potential and local wisdom of the Toraja people relevant to biological concepts and to develop an ethnopedagogical framework as a foundation for contextualized learning materials for senior high school students in Phases E and F. Employing a systematic literature review guided by the PRISMA model, the research screens, selects, and analyzes sources addressing the scientific relevance of the Toraja community's local potential and wisdom on topics such as biodiversity, genetics, anatomy, and more. Findings reveal that the local potential and indigenous knowledge embedded in Toraja wisdom can be adapted into scientific concepts that support the achievement of biology learning outcomes at the senior high school level in Phases E and F. This study contributes to the advancement of ethnopedagogy as an innovative educational approach that aligns teaching practices with local cultural values. Moreover, it provides a framework that can guide the development of learning content, modules, student worksheets, projects, quizzes, and assessment tools to foster meaningful and contextualized learning experiences.

Abstract

As students of BIPA (Bahasa Indonesia untuk Penutur Asing or Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) learning, cultural aspects are fundamental to understand. One reason is that having cultural awareness can increase the success of the language learning process, including BIPA learning. This study aims to describe the dynamics of cultural transfer and its challenges in Indonesian language learning for pluricultural-based foreign speakers. This research applies a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results indicate that cultural learning for BIPA students is achieved through three key aspects: cultural products, cultural values, and cultural behavior. Inherent teaching methods are more recommended than separate teaching methods. The challenges of cultural transfer in BIPA learning start with: 1) very different cultural backgrounds; 2) BIPA programs tend to be theoretical; 3) Indonesian culture is very diverse and complex; 4) cultural education requires teachers to have the capacity and experience in cultural understanding and communication; and 5) the fast speech tempo of Indonesian society. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the dynamic process of cultural transfer and the challenges of learning Indonesian for pluricultural-based foreign speakers. This research is expected to contribute to the development of BIPA teaching-learning activities that are more adaptive, contextual, and capable of enhancing cultural understanding for learners.

Abstract

One of the most crucial competencies for educators is the ability to create meaningful and effective learning experiences. This research aims to develop and implement learning tools—specifically lesson plans and textbooks—using the Case approach for a Student Development course. The study employs Rowntree’s development model, consisting of three main stages: planning, development, and iterative evaluation with revisions based on expert input and trial results. The lesson plans developed in this study achieved a strong average validity score of 4.57, indicating a high level of alignment with learning objectives and curriculum standards. The textbooks that support the lesson plan were also validated, scoring 3.98 in terms of design and 4.203 for content quality, both considered valid to very valid. Practicality testing involved both individual and group trials, demonstrating that the materials are user-friendly, applicable, and effective in classroom settings. To assess effectiveness, students’ critical thinking skills were measured before and after the implementation. Results showed a significant increase, with pre-test scores averaging 61.6 and post-test scores reaching 91.8, yielding an N-gain of 0.786, which is classified as high. These findings demonstrate that Case-based learning tools can foster student engagement, contextual understanding, and higher-order thinking skills, making them highly effective for educational use in similar contexts.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the correlation between scholastic ability in chemistry and creativity in stoichiometry learning among first-year students. Chemistry scholastic ability is naturally integrated among first-year students who demonstrate their reasoning skills in the field of chemistry, which may influence students' creativity in their chemistry learning. This quantitative research used a correlational design to examine two variables without providing an intervention. The research results showed a significant correlation between scholastic ability in chemistry and creativity, but were inconsistent across the two creativity measures (verbal assessment of creativity [VAC] and figural assessment of creativity [FAC]). Chemistry scholastic ability had a significant correlation with VAC. The first-year students identified had moderate-level reasoning ability, as evidenced by their difficulties transforming stoichiometry knowledge at the microscopic-symbolic level. Students' reasoning abilities encouraged the emergence of an original idea for molecular modeling using environmentally friendly materials (VAC). Even though they did not achieve high-level reasoning ability, they succeeded in creating a mind map (FAC) on stoichiometry by supporting digital literacy. Reasoning ability can foster creativity as one of the 21st-century skills, enabling students to directly contribute to preserving the environment by using molecular modeling materials. They also solve daily-life problems more easily by applying stoichiometry knowledge visualized in a mind map.

Abstract

The emergence of AI writing tools —knowledgeable writing assistants —is very helpful for students in improving their writing skills. However, no reviews or studies discussed using AI writing software to support students' paraphrasing skills. This systematic literature review (SLR) explores the applications of AI writing tools for improving paraphrasing skills, the aspects that can be improved, and the weaknesses to anticipate when using intelligent writing assistants. This study uses a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) that reviewed primary studies from journals indexed by Scopus, Elsevier, and ProQuest between 2021 and 2025. One thousand four hundred ninety-seven raw articles were found in the search. Thirty-three articles were removed due to duplication. Verification of titles and abstracts resulted in 98 articles. The final step was full-text screening. The final screening results determined 22 articles that met the criteria. The review's findings explain the strengths and weaknesses of each AI used for paraphrasing. The findings also provide suggestions for further research in improving paraphrasing skills.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of environmental ethics, cultural traditions, and technological innovation in disaster mitigation education to enhance the resilience of communities vulnerable to natural disasters, particularly those near Mount Semeru. Employing a qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach, this research examines Javanese cultural perspectives on human-nature relationships and their implications for disaster preparedness. Data collection involved interview with village elders, community leaders and village youth, document analysis of Javanese philosophical texts, mythology, and oral traditions, as well as expert consultations with scholars in Javanese cosmology and disaster education. Thematic and comparative analyses were conducted to identify key patterns in disaster perception and response. The findings reveal that the Semeru community’s mitigation strategies are deeply rooted in traditional wisdom, classified into narrative, mystical, and functionalistic guidance, forming the basis of the ‘Triple N’ model: Nuturi, Niteni, and Nindaki. This framework emphasizes socialization, internalization, and enculturation to strengthen disaster awareness and community leadership. The study contributes to disaster education by bridging traditional knowledge with modern mitigation strategies, offering a culturally grounded approach that enhances community preparedness and response effectiveness. The Triple N model offers a culturally grounded framework that enhances disaster education, strengthens community resilience, and supports the development of a disaster mitigation curriculum.
