Abstract

Religious studies are the study of in-depth religion; in its journey, religious studies are divided into two models: dogmatic and empirical. The difference between the two understandings will lead to a reductive understanding of religion in religious studies and can lead to misunderstandings that lead to conflict. To reduce the complex problems of the dichotomy of religious studies, this article tries to draw lessons from Immanuel Kant's criticism; Immanuel Kant's criticism begins by placing doubts on the thinking of rationalists who take a priori knowledge for granted, but on the other hand, Immanuel Kant still keeps trying to investigate how a priori things as science are possible until in the end Immanuel Kant brings up the decision of a priori synthesis as one of knowledge and succeeds in resolving the disagreement between rationalist and empiricist groups. The design of religious studies must start from a doctrinal and empirical dichotomy, then adopt a synthesis of rationalism and empiricism. As Immanuel Kant has said, both a priori and a posteriori thinking, if they stand alone, each has its weaknesses. Likewise, if they stand alone, the dogmatic model of religious studies and the empirical model will end in a reductive understanding.

The study of Islamic education theory has so far prioritized the thinking of educational scholars from the Arab world. However, the study of Islamic educational thought of Nusantara scholars still needs to be encouraged. This article aims to explain al-Palimbani's educational thoughts, especially on the ethical aspects of a student and teacher, as well as its relevance to the educational practices today. Some of the ethics are a student must be clean of his heart from despicable nature, focus on study, redempted, respect knowledge, intention because of God, respect the teacher, and not feel smarter than his teacher. Meanwhile, a teacher should be patient, affectionate with students, humble, accept the truth of other opinions, not expect rewards, resuscitate students and others. It some points of al-Palimbani's educational thought that are still very relevant to the characteristics of 21st century education. Abstract

Early childhood, or in specific, the period of age zero to six, is the golden period in which many major developments in children take place. Families are considered to be the first and the most important support system to facilitate those developments. However, amidst the overwhelming information regarding parenting over the globe, parents can be left indecisive in choosing the most appropriate strategies to nurture and support their children's development. This qualitative study explores the prophetic ways to stimulate children development, including 5 (five) development areas, including: (1) cognitive development, (2) language development, (3) motor and physical development, (4) socio-emotional development, and (5) moral development. It was found that there are several similarities between the prophetic ways in stimulating children with those founded by scholars in early childhood education or child psychology. Parents can follow Rasulullah’s steps in nurturing young children, such as by breastfeeding babies until the age of two and weaning them afterwards, inviting children to discussions, telling stories about Rasulullah s.a.w. and his companions, communicating effectively with children, playing with young children, showing affection to them, and teaching them that Rasulullah s.a.w. is the main role model in life.
