Abstract

Purpose: The primary objective of this study was to understand the factors that influence non-Muslim clients' perceptions of halal hotels in DKI Jakarta, Indonesia. Research Methodology:  Data were collected using questionnaires from 95 hotel guests in the DKI Jakarta region. Descriptive analysis and logistic regression were employed as analytical methods. Results: The results of the logistic regression revealed that education level and cost of hotel stay are significant determinants of non-Muslim consumers' selection of halal hotels. Limitations: This study was limited by its sample size of 95 visitors and geographical restrictions on the DKI Jakarta area. These variables may have affected the generalizability of our results. Contributions: This research enriches the halal tourism domain by elucidating non-Muslim guests' views on halal hotels and offering invaluable guidance for hoteliers, tourism entities, and policymakers to expand their target clientele in halal travel. Novelty: The novelty of this study lies in its focus on non-Muslim consumer perceptions, providing empirical evidence on how education and price influence hotel selection in the context of halal tourism.

Abstract

Purpose: The main objective of this study is to determine what needs to be managed and what obstacles make this World Heritage Site more attractive to tourists through sustainable development. Research Methodology:  The study was mainly quantitative in nature. To acquire primary data, the upazilas of Koira and Dumuria in the Khulna district, as well as Shyamnagar, Debhata, and Tala in the Satkhira district, were conveniently sampled because a sizable portion of Sundarbans are located there. A total of 365 individuals from five preselected locations completed a standardized questionnaire to provide information, and respondents were selected using a simple random sampling procedure. Statistics, such as frequency and percentage, and the logistic regression (LR) model were used to examine the data. Results: Among the independent variables included in the NES framework, only eight variables—advantages of natural diversity, natural complications, compatibility, multi-culture opportunity, diversity of life, job opportunity, GDP contribution, and income opportunity—significantly influenced the sustainable development of tourism in the Sundarbans area. Limitations: This research is based on the selected sample about the sustainability, protection, and promotion of Sundarbans, but most of the respondents had limited ideas about these key issues. Contributions: If a sustainable communication system and a standard resort or hotel-motel are built, domestic and foreign tourists will be interested. Additionally, specific policies and adequate security arrangements should be implemented. Above all, the concerned ministries of the government should come forward to create awareness among the people living in the Sundarban area to protect the natural diversity of the region.

This research is also very useful for the government in developing and managing an ideal communication system to implement community empowerment programs Novelty: The novelty of this study is that strengthening SDGs in villages can create a positive impact in reducing economic inequality, improving the quality of life of the community, and supporting sustainable natural resource management.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to design integrative transcendental planning based on exploring phenomena in Rawabogo Village. Since 2011, Rawabogo Village has been designated as a tourism village with customs and cultural heritage. However, the development of tourism village planning has yet to show significant progress. Research Methodology:  Descriptive qualitative with a symbolic and critical hermeneutic approach, which produces integrative transcendental planning. The data is collected through remote observation and understanding of the information unit. Results: The results provide an explanation and understanding that Rawabogo Village has the potential to be developed as a tourism village with the oral traditions of the Mount Nagara Padang site and local cultural life as the main attraction. This attraction must be aligned with stakeholder planning and understanding by sustainably implementing economic, innovation, cultural landscape, and community strategies. This strategy will have implications for tourism village planning in Rawabogo Village. Limitations: The limitation of this research lies in the process of meaning, which is not too deep, and methods can only be implemented in small planning scopes. Contributions: Integrative transcendental planning is a new contribution to the development of village planning and development paradigms because it does not only consider instrumental approaches but also communication and phenomenological approaches that are appropriate for village phenomena. Customs and cultural heritage are a phenomenon with significant potential that needs to be packaged sustainably to become a tourist attraction in Rawabogo Village.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to explore the impact of empowering society and culinary MSMEs on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in West Java, focusing on Sindangmukti Village, Karawang Regency. While prior research has often used a top-down approach, neglecting direct societal impact, this study takes a bottom-up perspective, aligning with implicit SDG principles observed in community services. Research Methodology:  The study employed online questionnaires with 505 households in West Java to evaluate water consumption, waste generation, and energy usage patterns. Specific investigations in Sindangmukti Village have measured community service effectiveness regarding SDGs. Results: The study found that Only 19.1% of the participants set AC temperatures within the recommended ranges. Additionally, initiatives to promote a sustainable city strategy and establish energy-efficient culinary MSMEs in Sindangmukti Village resulted in a 29% increase in knowledge among 70 participants and generated $36.71 income from bitter melon chip production within two months. Limitations: However, the study focused solely on Sindangmukti Village, neglecting the diverse cultural and problem landscapes of other villages in the Karawang Regency. Contributions: The findings of this study can inform future efforts to enhance energy, water, and waste efficiency in residential buildings in West Java, thereby fostering awareness of energy conservation, environmental sustainability, and economic resilience.
