Abstract

Rapid digital technological development has transformed learning practices, including Islamic Religious Education (IRE), requiring the strengthening of digital literacy integrated with Islamic values. This study aims to synthesize the development of digital literacy research in IRE learning through a Literature Systematic Review (LSR) approach based on PRISMA 2020. Data were obtained from 15 selected articles and analyzed thematically to identify concepts, implementation strategies, benefits, challenges, and research gaps. The findings show that digital literacy in IRE is not only limited to technical skills but also includes critical, ethical, and spiritual dimensions integrated with the values of tabayyun, amanah, and ṣidq. Digital literacy implementation is carried out through Learning Management Systems, interactive learning media, educational videos, and project- and problem-based learning models. The study also reveals improvements in learning motivation, critical thinking skills, religious literacy, and students’ character building. However, challenges remain, including limited teacher competence, infrastructure constraints, and risks of misinformation. This research provides both conceptual and practical contributions for developing Islamic education learning in the modern digital era and serves as a reference for future research development in education.

Abstract

This study examines the construction of Islamic ethics concerning respect for parents and teachers in the chapter "Living Honorably by Respecting Parents and Teachers" in the Grade 10 Aqidah Akhlaq textbook for Madrasah Aliyah, developed in accordance with the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs Decree No. 183 of 2019, and explores its relevance to the revitalization of character education. The study employed a qualitative library research approach. The primary data source was the textbook, while secondary data were drawn from scholarly literature on Islamic ethics, character education, and Islamic education. Data were collected through document analysis and analyzed using qualitative content analysis supported by theoretical triangulation. The findings demonstrate that Islamic ethics is constructed through the integration of three interrelated dimensions: faith (Iman), knowledge (ilm), and practice (amal). Faith provides the normative foundation through the Qur'an and the Hadith, knowledge develops moral understanding through the interpretation of religious texts and scholarly perspectives, and practice actualizes these values through respectful conduct toward parents and teachers. Based on these findings, the study proposes the Faith–Knowledge–Practice (Iman–Ilm–Amal) Integration Model as its primary conceptual contribution, explaining how moral character is formed through the interrelationship among theological foundations, intellectual understanding, and ethical practice. The proposed model enriches the discourse on Islamic character education and provides a conceptual framework for revitalizing character education in Islamic educational institutions.

Abstract

This study investigates how Pesantren Terpadu Al Mujaddid, Sabang, integrates Acehnese local wisdom with modern governance to prevent and handle violence within the boarding school environment. Although previous studies have addressed violence in pesantren, limited attention has been given to models that combine traditional Acehnese conflict-resolution mechanisms with technology-based supervision in a unified framework. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through interviews, observations, documentation, and autoethnography involving pesantren leaders, caregivers, teachers, students, and parents. The findings reveal four key preventive strategies: technology-assisted supervision through CCTV and digital reporting, transparent communication with parents, digitalized financial management to reduce theft-related conflicts, and routine deliberation for early detection of behavioral issues. In terms of case handling, the pesantren employs Acehnese customary practices-duek pakat (communal deliberation), suloh (customary mediation), and diyat (compensation)-as restorative mechanisms that involve both families, community elders, and pesantren authorities. Parents express strong trust in this integrative system due to its transparency, cultural relevance, and emphasis on child protection. This study contributes a contextualized governance model for Islamic boarding schools that harmonizes local cultural wisdom and modern administrative tools to create a safe, educative, and culturally grounded pesantren ecosystem.

Abstract

Abstract This study examines the relevance of Paulo Freire's liberation education concepts to contemporary Islamic education in Indonesia. In the context of globalization and technological transformation, Islamic education is still largely transmissive and hierarchical, causing students to be treated more as objects than active subjects of learning. The objectives of this research are: (1) to explore the relevance of Freire’s thought to the values of Islamic education; (2) to formulate an integrative pedagogical framework that combines Freire's principles of liberation with Islamic educational practices; and (3) to provide practical recommendations for Islamic educational institutions to create more participatory and reflective learning environments. The study employs a library research approach with content analysis of national scholarly literature published between 2019 and 2024, selected based on thematic relevance, publisher credibility, and full-text accessibility. The research instrument is a content analysis sheet categorizing operational indicators of each literature source. The research hypothesis posits that contextual application of liberation education principles in Islamic education will increase active participation, critical awareness, and social commitment among students compared to traditional methods. Findings indicate that Freire’s emphasis on dialogue, critical consciousness, and praxis aligns with Islamic educational principles, which position humans as moral, spiritual, and social beings. Integrating these paradigms enables the creation of a participatory and liberating Islamic education model that develops not only students’ intellect but also their moral and spiritual awareness. This study contributes theoretically by enriching the philosophy of Islamic education with critical and humanistic perspectives, and practically by offering a framework for Islamic educational institutions to design reflective, dialogic, and transformative curricula and teaching strategies. In conclusion, contemporary Islamic education can leverage Freire’s principles of liberation to cultivate a generation that is faithful, critical, and socially responsible.

Abstract

Aqidah is a fundamental aspect in shaping Islamic character and identity; however, in the era of Society 5.0, challenges such as moral degradation, technological penetration, and the influence of globalization pose significant risks to young people’s understanding of religious creed. Tastafi Muslimah, as part of the broader Tastafi learning network, plays an essential role in strengthening Aswaja-based aqidah education by providing religious guidance to mothers as the primary educators within the family. This study aims to analyze the patterns of Aswaja aqidah cultivation in Tastafi families, the implementation of Aswaja principles in children, and the supporting and inhibiting factors that influence aqidah learning in the household. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Aswaja aqidah development is carried out through the introduction of core tawhid concepts, parental religious role modeling, the habituation of worship practices, and the creation of a supportive social environment. The implementation of Aswaja principles is reflected in the reinforcement of religious values, character building, and the involvement of the Tastafi community as an extended religious learning space. Supporting factors include family commitment and community involvement, while inhibiting factors involve digital influences, unsupportive social environments, and limited parental supervision. These findings affirm that Tastafi families hold a strategic role in ensuring the continuous transmission of Aswaja aqidah through the synergy between religious parenting practices and community-based support systems.

Abstract

This study explores the acculturation between Islam and local Acehnese culture within the Peusijuek Haji tradition, a customary ritual performed before departure or upon the return of pilgrims from the Hajj. This tradition represents the convergence of two sacred dimensions, religious and cultural, reflecting the Islamization of local symbols through a reinterpretation of their spiritual meanings. The research aims to describe the forms of Islamic and local cultural acculturation within Peusijuek Haji and to explain its philosophical meanings and socio-religious functions for Acehnese society. The study employs a descriptive qualitative method using a library research approach, analyzing literature, customary archives, and local documentation. The findings indicate that acculturation occurs through symbolic and social transformation: traditional elements such as rice (breuh padee), ceremonial flour (teupong taweu), and leaves (on sisijeuk) are redefined as symbols of purification and blessings consistent with Islamic teachings. Furthermore, a dialogical dynamic among religious scholars, customary leaders, and pilgrim families shapes ritual practices that harmonize with Islamic law while preserving cultural values. Variations across generations and regions reveal that Peusijuek Haji represents a selective form of acculturation, demonstrating the Acehnese community's ability to maintain a balance between tradition and religion. This study concludes that Peusijuek Haji functions not only as a religious symbol but also as a means of strengthening social solidarity and Acehnese cultural identity.
