Abstract

Background: This article presents the implementation of a lightning protection system at the Cibanon Village Hall in Bogor as part of a technology-based community service program. Contribution: The initiative to install a conventional lightning rod in the Cibanon Village Hall building to protect electronic equipment. Method: The methodology includes site assessment, risk analysis, system design, and installation following international standards. Results: The results obtained from this study are the area that has the potential for lightning strikes, so it is recommended to install a conventional lightning rod installation with 4 (four) lightning rods on top of the building and 1 (one) rod in the ground with a depth of 7.5 m with a grounding resistance value of 2.02 Ohm. Conclusion: Shows the level of security requirements for the Cibanon Village Hall building against lightning strikes. The initiative also fostered community awareness and participation, highlighting its replicability in other rural areas with similar environmental threats.

Abstract

Background: RS Bhayangkara Pontianak faces challenges in managing patient queues due to the high volume of visits and low utilization of online queue applications based on the Khanza Health Management Information System (SIMKES). Contribution: This community service activity aims to improve patients’ and families’ understanding and ability to use online queue applications independently. Method: Through a participatory educational approach, the educational intervention lasted one day and involved 45 participants who had never used the application. Education was provided through short counselling sessions, leaflet distribution, video tutorial screening, and direct simulation of application use. Results: 51.1% of participants were delighted with the educational material, 48.9% with the delivery method, and 60% felt helped by the simulation. Confidence in using the application increased significantly, especially among younger participants. However, older users showed limited progress due to low digital literacy. These results indicate that a participatory educational approach effectively encourages the adoption of digital health tools. Conclusion: The need for ongoing training for patients and staff, the provision of easily accessible self-study materials, and the integration of digital literacy education into routine hospital operations.

Abstract

Background: The integration of AI-powered PowerPoint in education offers promising opportunities for enhancing teaching effectiveness, yet many vocational teachers face challenges in implementing this technology due to limited training and technical support. Contribution: This study contributes to the educational community by providing a practical framework for integrating AI-powered tools in vocational education, thereby enhancing teachers' technical skills and supporting sustainable technological adoption. Method: Using a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach, twenty office administration teachers participated in an 8-hour training program. Data were collected through validated instruments measuring three indicators: training reaction, training facilities and materials, and expected behavioral changes. Results: Paired-sample t-tests revealed highly significant improvements in expected behavioral changes (t (19) = -4.501, p < 0.001) and training facilities perception (t (19) = -2.594, p = 0.018), although training reaction showed no significant change (t (19) = -1.628, p = 0.120). Conclusion: These findings suggest that intensive, well-structured training programs can effectively promote AI-powered PowerPoint adoption in vocational education, particularly in developing technical skills and implementation intentions. Educational institutions should consider implementing similar training programs while maintaining long-term support structures to reinforce learning and facilitate sustained technological integration.

Abstract

Background: Lower-limb loss poses significant challenges to mobility, employability, and social participation for many individuals in low- and middle-income countries. In Indonesia, the high cost of imported prosthetics has prompted community-based small enterprises to produce low-cost transfemoral devices. Contribution: This study contributes to support a local prosthetics workshop (Independent Disabled Creativity Foundation/IDCF) by integrating user feedback and basic functional assessments to guide improvements to a transfemoral prosthesis prototype. Method: Seven transfemoral amputees completed the Locomotor Ability Index (LCI), then performed standing, walking, and stair climbing tasks assessed by the Amputee Mobility Predictor with Prosthesis (AMPPRO), Rating of Perceived Discomfort (RPD) questionnaire, and Post-test Interview with improvement concepts using the SCAMPER (Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify, Put to Other uses, Eliminate, Rearrange) creativity method. Results: Participants achieved independent ambulation (mean LCI = 51.00 ± 5.10; AMPPRO = 42.29 ± 3.15, K3–K4 classification). Common discomfort was reported in the amputated thigh, sound-side thigh, and ankle. Design adjustments were collaboratively proposed, including socket fit improvement, knee joint reinforcement, and coupler alignment. Conclusion: This study highlights the value of structured user feedback in guiding local prosthetic refinement. It demonstrates how participatory methods can support inclusive design and technical strengthening for community-based production.

Abstract

Background: Bantul Regency in Indonesia has strong potential to develop a sustainable creative economy through local crafts. However, many MSMEs still use synthetic dyes that harm the environment. This program aimed to introduce Eco-print, a natural dyeing technique using local leaves and flowers. Contribution: The initiative raised awareness about sustainable production, built technical skills, and encouraged home-based creative enterprises. It supported the community in adopting local resource-based innovations while promoting environmental responsibility and cultural expression. Method: This program using a Community Development approach, with six stages: needs assessment, collaborative planning, Eco-print training, mentoring, and evaluation. Training activities included plant identification, motif design, and natural dye fixation, conducted with the KSS Berkah Bersama community. Results: Post-training assessments showed a significant improvement in knowledge and skill, with test scores increasing from 40–50 to 80–90. Participants produced eco-friendly tote bags and expressed interest in continuing independent production and marketing efforts. Conclusion: The program effectively built sustainable textile skills, empowered community members through practical innovation, and supported inclusive local economic development rooted in environmental values and cultural identity.
