Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of using flash card media on students’ reading ability in the Indonesian language subject, specifically on verb material, in Grade II at SD Muhammadiyah 13 Medan. This study employed a descriptive quantitative research design. The sample in this study consisted of Grade II A students as the experimental class totaling 21 students and Grade II B students as the control class totaling 16 students. Data collection techniques were conducted through tests and observation sheets. The population of this study included all Grade II students at SD Muhammadiyah 13 Medan. Meanwhile, the data analysis technique used was the t-test.The results of the study showed that the reading ability of Grade II students in the control class improved from a pre-test score of 38.5 to 71.4 in the post-test. The reading ability of students in the experimental class experienced a significant improvement after the implementation of flash card media, from an average pre-test score of 49.3 to 78.75 in the post-test. This indicates that flash card media are effective in improving students’ reading ability.Based on data analysis using the t-test and the hypothesis testing results, the obtained significance value (sig. 2-tailed) was 0.004. Therefore, the significance value of 0.004 < 0.05 indicates a significant difference, meaning that the working hypothesis (Ha) in this study was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of the use of flash card media on the reading ability of Grade II students at SD Muhammadiyah 13 Medan.

Abstract

The problem of students' low critical thinking skills has prompted innovation in learning strategies, one of which is the use of the Quantum Learning model with a Deep Learning approach. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Quantum Learning model based on the Deep Learning approach on students' critical thinking skills in solving mathematical problems. This study used a combinational research approach, applying an exploratory sequential mixed methods approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. The sample consisted of classes X-7 as the experimental class and X-8 as the control class, with six students serving as subjects for the qualitative analysis. Data collection techniques used included tests, documentation, and interviews. While paired t-tests were used to examine the data in the quantitative section, three phases of analysis were used to assess the data in the qualitative section: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. Triangulation methods, including interviews and documentation, were used in this study. Students' critical thinking skills improved significantly, according to the results of the paired t-test. The results of the hypothesis test showed a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.000. Based on the decision-making criteria, since the sig value (2-tailed) <0.05,  is rejected and  is accepted, so it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the critical thinking abilities of the experimental class and the control class after the Quantum Learning model with the Deep Learning approach was implemented. In addition, according to the qualitative analysis: There was a shift in the achievement of students' critical thinking ability indicators: (1) students with high critical thinking abilities changed from two indicators in the pretest to four indicators in the posttest; (2) students with moderate critical thinking abilities changed to three indicators in the posttest; (3) students with low critical thinking abilities did not change, only meeting one indicator in the posttest.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) determine how the Pop-Up Book learning media product is developed for the topic of plane figures, (2) determine the validity level of the media, and (3) determine the practicality level of the media. The method used in this study was the Research and Development (R&D) method. The development model applied in this research was the 4D development model consisting of four stages: (1) define, (2) design, (3) development, and (4) dissemination, introduced by Sivasailam Thiagarajan. This research produced a Pop-Up Book multiplication learning media for elementary schools. Based on the validation results of the learning media, the average scores were 91% from material experts, 93% from media experts, and 96% from language experts, indicating that the learning media met the “very feasible” criteria. The practicality results showed that the teacher response reached 92% and the student response reached 95%, indicating that the learning media met the “very practical” criteria. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that the Pop-Up Book learning media was declared highly feasible/valid and highly practical.

Abstract

Developing students’ visual-spatial intelligence remains a challenge in teaching geometry at Madrasah Aliyah, particularly on the topics of cubes and rectangular prisms. This difficulty arises from the limited learning models and instructional media used, as well as the abstract nature of the material. This study investigates how the integration of GeoEnzo into the Project-Based Learning (PjBL) model enhances the visual–spatial intelligence of Madrasah Aliyah students on cube and rectangular prism topics. A quasi-experimental approach with a pretest–posttest control group design was employed. Eleventh-grade students at a Madrasah Aliyah were divided into an experimental class and a control class. The experimental class received project-based learning supported by GeoEnzo media, while the control class was taught using conventional instruction. The research instruments included a visual–spatial intelligence test and a project assessment rubric. Data were analyzed using N-Gain score analysis and a t-test. The results indicate that students in the experimental class demonstrated a significantly greater improvement in visual-spatial intelligence compared to those in the control class. By adding GeoEnzo to PjBL, students can see, move, and show three-dimensional geometric objects in a more real and interactive way. Therefore, it can be concluded that implementing GeoEnzo within a project-based learning model effectively enhances senior high school students’ visual-spatial intelligence on cube and rectangular prism material. To improve the quality of mathematics learning, this study recommends the use of project-based interactive geometry media as an innovative instructional alternative.

Abstract

The rapid changes in popular culture trends on social media often cause fan communities to shift quickly and not last long. However, the Carat Medan community has been able to endure for nearly a decade. This study analyzes how the negotiation of meaning within participatory culture communication practices in the Carat Medan community functions as a strategy to maintain the community's existence from 2017 to 2026. The research method using a field study. Data were collected through structured interviews, documentation studies, and participant observation across various community activities. The findings show that the sustainability of Carat Medan is driven by a the community collective ability to negotiate the meanings of messages and values, which are then aligned with the local cultural context. This process encourage the transformation of fans from active consumers into prosumers who contribute to the producing community activities and collaborating with local media. This study concludes that communicative flexibility, the creation of a safe third space for interaction, and a strong participatory culture enable the community to remain cohesive and to navigate internal dynamics despite ongoing changes in social media trends.
