Abstract

This community service program aimed to enhance public understanding of the DAGUSIBU concept (Dapatkan, Gunakan, Simpan, Buang) as part of an educational effort to promote safe and responsible medication management within the family environment. The methods employed included Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and counseling, with evaluations carried out through pretest and posttest assessments to measure changes in participants' knowledge. The program involved 32 residents of Teluk Sanggar Village, Martapura District, Banjar Regency, with 53.13% male and 46.87% female participants. The evaluation results indicated a significant increase in participants' knowledge after the intervention. The percentage of participants in the "Poor" category decreased from 87% to 0%, while the "Good" and "Excellent" categories increased to 28%. To further validate the significance of these changes, a Wilcoxon signed-rank test was conducted. The results of the test confirmed a statistically significant difference in knowledge scores before and after the intervention (p < 0.05). This supports the conclusion that the DAGUSIBU education was effective in improving participants' understanding of proper medication management. These findings demonstrate that DAGUSIBU education effectively raises public awareness of safe medication practices. Future programs are recommended to develop more detailed educational materials, engage healthcare professionals, and implement ongoing monitoring at the household level.

Abstract

This community service aims to increase the skills and knowledge of culinary MSME players, develop an e-business system through online sales platforms, and have certified halal culinary MSME products. This service used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method to enhance the operational skills of culinary MSMEs in Tabek Patah Village. Through training, MSME actors gained skills in halal certification, digital marketing, and online business tools such as Shopee, Tokopedia, Instagram, WhatsApp Business, and Google Maps. They learned to create digital catalogs, register their businesses on Google Maps, and obtain Business Identification Numbers (NIBs), while understanding the benefits of halal certification for market expansion. Despite challenges like limited internet infrastructure and initial skepticism, the program significantly improved MSMEs’ visibility, competitiveness, and confidence in using technology. However, continuous assistance remains crucial to sustain these advancements and address remaining barriers, ensuring long-term success in integrating technology and halal standards into their operations.

Abstract

This community service program aims to develop sustainable geotextiles made from local biomass. It involves training farmers in their production as an effort to reduce plastic use, improve soil health, and increase yields of papaya and chili crops. This community service implementation uses a participatory approach targeting farmers who are members of the "Karya Tani" farmer group in Desa Sidorejo, Bojonegoro Regency, East Java, with a total of 25 participants. The results of this service indicate that plastic mulch can be replaced with geotextiles made from local biomass in maintaining soil moisture, weed control, sunlight absorption, and water management. The best results were obtained from coconut coir geotextiles compared to straw, yielding 500 kg of papaya harvest from a 0.25-hectare plantation. Ultimately, this community development project aims to promote sustainable agriculture, empower rural communities, and contribute to a circular economy.
