Abstract

Rugby is a high-intensity collision sport played by fifteen players in highly specialised playing positions. Due to these physical demands and to maintain a highly competitive level, a coach may substitute no more than eight players during the match. Player substitutions can affect the match’s outcome and knowing when to substitute players is largely determined by a coaches’ intuition. Therefore, the coaches’ involvements and decisions behind player changes must be assessed, as the effects of changing a player can directly affect the team’s performance. A six-sectioned questionnaire was developed to assess various issues surrounding player substitutions. Specifically, reasons for substituting players, considerations, informing players, match progression and status. Question responses followed a five-point Likert scale. Sixty-nine age-group level rugby coaches (experience 11.7 ± 9.0 years) completed the questionnaire. Common responses indicated that coaches used substitutions to increase their team’s chances of winning and to reduce player load. Additionally, the results indicate that coaches are likely to substitute players based on a predetermined strategy and to manage player loads. Coaches were likely to change players following a team scoring and as the game progressed. Additionally, substitutions were more likely when game importance increased. Finally, coaches frequently considered technical abilities of the players, timing and score of the game before changing players. The results provide a likely indication that coaches rely on their own previous playing experience regarding their decision-making approaches. Importantly, substitutions are planned and not reactive. Overall, coaches should provide sufficient notice and instruction to replacement players.

Abstract

This study aims to find out how good the cardiorespiratory endurance level of the SMA Negeri 22 Makassar futsal team is. This research is a quantitative descriptive research, the test technique used to collect data is the Multistage Fitness Test. The population in this study was 25 futsal team players at SMA Negeri 22 Makassar, the sample to determine the population used purposive sampling. The data analysis technique used is descriptive statistics in the form of percentages. The prevalence of "fair" (moderate) fitness levels among players under the age of 18 in the futsal team of SMA Negeri 22 Makassar indicates the need for a targeted training program to improve their cardiorespiratory endurance. With 62.5% of respondents falling into this category, this shows the potential to increase their fitness levels to achieve better performance on the field. Identifying factors contributing to lower fitness levels among the 37.5% of players categorized as “poor” (poor) may provide valuable insight for developing personalized training interventions and plans to meet their specific needs. By addressing these fitness gaps, teams can potentially improve their overall performance and competitiveness in futsal tournaments. A sufficient level of cardiorespiratory endurance is important in the sport of futsal, which involves fast movements, sudden changes in direction, and high intensity. By having a sufficient level of cardiorespiratory endurance, SMA Negeri 22 Makassar futsal players can maintain their performance during matches, reduce fatigue and minimize the risk of injury.

Abstract

The global obesity rate has doubled since 1980, leading to widespread health concerns. This study analyzes the relationships between physical activity, dietary patterns, and socioeconomic status on obesity in elementary school children. Based on a review of 11 national and international articles published between 2016 and 2020, the study finds that factors contributing to childhood obesity include sedentary behavior, poor dietary habits, genetic predisposition, and environmental influences. Results suggest a strong correlation between reduced physical activity and increased obesity risk, along with a connection between unhealthy dietary patterns and the prevalence of obesity. Additionally, the study highlights the influence of socioeconomic factors on dietary choices, particularly in the context of the availability and affordability of fast food. These findings emphasize the need for comprehensive interventions and awareness campaigns to promote healthy lifestyles and prevent childhood obesity.

Abstract

Learning physical education, sports and health at SMP Negeri 3 Wates can be said to be less effective due to several factors. First, the limited availability of textbooks which is one of the students' learning resources. As a result, during physical education lessons, students only do practical activities in the field. The purpose of this study is to determine students' understanding of physical education material, which leads to confusion during written exams. This research and development model of multimedia learning for Physical Education, Sports, and Health for grade VII students in junior high school uses a Research and Development (R&D) approach, using the multimedia development model developed by Borg & Gall. Borg and Gall's research and development process involves 10 steps, of which researchers will apply 9 steps, including: (1) Potential and problems, (2) Data collection, (3) Product design, (4) Design validation, (5) Design revision, (6) Product trial, (7) Design revision, (8) Usage trial, and (9) Product revision. Based on the conclusions of this study, the development of Android-based interactive media is considered valid, with 75% validation from learning experts and 75% validation from media experts, signifying the validation of Android-based interactive media. Android-based interactive media is considered effective for use in learning, because it obtained a percentage of 80% in the limited trial and 86% in the broad trial.
