Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between conformity, self-esteem, and psychological well-being in adolescents who experience body dysmorphic disorder tendencies. The method used is multiple correlational and bivariate cross-sectional quantitative research. The participants of this study were 315 adolescents who experienced body dysmorphic disorder tendencies using a proportional stratified random sampling technique. Measurements used The Conformity Scale (α = 0.865), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (α = 0.832), and Ryff Psychological Well-Being Scale (α = 0.936). The results prove that conformity and self-esteem are jointly related to psychological well-being in adolescents who experience body dysmorphic disorder tendencies (F change = 44.496 with sig. = 0.000; p<0.05). Partially, conformity is negatively related to psychological well-being (r = -0.178 with sig. = 0.001; p<0.01), and self-esteem is positively associated with psychological well-being (r = 0.426 with sig. = 0.000; p<0.01). These results indicate that conformity and self-esteem are factors associated with increased or decreased psychological well-being in adolescents who experience body dysmorphic disorder tendencies. Keywords: conformity, self-esteem, psychological well-being, adolescents, body dysmorphic disorder

Abstract

This study investigates the influence of resilience and work–family conflict on marital satisfaction among couples in long-distance marriages. A quantitative approach using multiple regression analysis was conducted with 118 participants selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected via the Resilience Quotient Scale, Work–Family Conflict Scale, and ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Scale. Findings show that resilience and work–family conflict significantly predict marital satisfaction (F = 16.9, p < 0.001). Resilience accounted for 32.4% of the variance, while work–family conflict explained 41.1%. Higher resilience was associated with greater marital satisfaction, while greater work–family conflict was associated with lower marital satisfaction. Resilience and balanced work–family roles are vital to sustaining marital satisfaction among long-distance couples. These findings emphasize that couples with higher resilience and balanced work–family roles experience stronger marital satisfaction despite physical distance. This research contributes to family psychology literature by emphasizing resilience and role management as key determinants of marital stability in physically separated relationships. Keywords: resilience, work–family conflict, marital satisfaction, long-distance marriage

Abstract

Academic achievement is an essential indicator in education, yet it is often hindered by academic procrastination, defined as the tendency of students to delay completing tasks. Academic stress can influence procrastination, which refers to psychological pressure arising from learning demands, and self-regulation, the ability to manage emotions, behavior, and learning strategies. This study examines the relationship between academic stress and self-regulation with academic procrastination among junior high school students in Jakarta. The population consisted of 706 students from State Junior High School A (428 students) and State Junior High School B (278 students). Using Slovin’s formula with a 5% significance level, a sample of 371 students was obtained. Three measurement scales were employed to assess each variable. The results revealed a significant negative relationship between academic stress and self-regulation with procrastination. Pearson correlation coefficients were -0.632 (academic stress) and -0.430 (self-regulation), with p = 0.000 (p < 0.01). These findings highlight the importance of collaboration among students, counselors, and parents in time management and emotion regulation to foster a supportive learning environment and reduce procrastination. Abstract

Interpersonal relationships are an essential foundation for identity formation, improving the quality of life, and mental wellbeing. This study aims to validate an instrument to measure the interpersonal relationships of high school and vocational school students. Survey research design, a quantitative approach, is used to provide a comprehensive understanding of interpersonal relationships. The theoretical framework for psychometric measurement is item response theory (IRT), specifically the RASCH model, using the Winstep application. The study's respondents were 351 students from 19 high schools and vocational schools across the island of Sumatra. The instrument consists of 74 statements across two aspects communication quality and participation each with 20 indicators. The results of the study showed that the interpersonal relationship was valid and reliable, meeting the criteria for item suitability, inventory dimensionality, and person and item reliability. Therefore, Guidance and Counseling Teachers can conduct more accurate assessments, detect students' various interpersonal problems early, and design interventions tailored to their needs. Abstract

The pervasive use of social media has exacerbated the issue of cyberbullying, with bystanders (cyberbystanders) playing a critical role in its dynamics. This study examines the relationship between self-efficacy and cyberbystander behaviour among adolescents.  A quantitative correlational design was employed, involving 256 active social media users aged 18 to 21 years. Data were collected using the Cyberbullying Bystander Scale and the Defender Self-Efficacy Scale. Spearman's correlation analysis revealed a significant positive relationship between self-efficacy and cyberbystander behaviour (r = 0.556, p < 0.001). Adolescents with higher self-efficacy were more likely to act as defenders of cybervictims, whereas those with lower self-efficacy tended to remain passive outsiders.Furthermore, self-efficacy accounted for 34.1% of the variance in defender behaviour and 15.1% of the variance in passive outsider behaviour. The findings underscore the pivotal role of self-efficacy in promoting proactive defender interventions among adolescents in cyberbullying contexts. Enhancing self-efficacy could be a key component in interventions aimed at encouraging positive bystander behaviour online. Abstract

Academic procrastination often becomes an obstacle that affects student achievement. This study aims to examine the effect of time management on academic procrastination among 11th-grade students at SMA Negeri 3 Demak. Using quantitative regression analysis within a correlational design, this study included all 11th-grade students from 12 classes (n=428) via total sampling. The results showed a strong negative correlation (r = -0.704, p < 0.001), with the regression equation Y = 103.887 – 0.911X indicating that each one-point increase in time management reduces procrastination by 0.911 points. Time management explains 49.6% of the variance in procrastination (R² = 0.496). In practice, these findings highlight the importance of equipping students with structured time management skills, which can improve learning outcomes, reduce stress, and prepare them to meet the increasing academic demands at higher levels of education. Given the urgency of academic procrastination as a widespread problem affecting students globally, this study emphasizes the need for schools to implement prevention strategies through guidance and counseling services. Abstract

Stunting is commonly perceived as a physical issue in children, yet it also affects their psychological growth, particularly socio-emotional development. This study aims to construct a valid and reliable socio-emotional inventory for stunted children aged 4–5 years. Employing a cross-sectional quantitative design, the study involved 311 participants observed by early childhood teachers, primary school teachers, and parents, selected through convenience sampling. Data were analyzed descriptively using the Rasch model in Winstep 3.73. Findings revealed 24 valid statement items for assessing the socio-emotional aspects of stunted children. Reliability was established through person–item interaction, with a Cronbach’s Alpha of 0.73, categorized as “good”. The inventory covers dimensions of self-awareness, responsibility toward self and others, and prosocial behavior. Results suggest that the socio-emotional inventory for stunting cases demonstrates strong psychometric qualities, making it suitable for evaluating socio-emotional conditions of stunted children, and offering a useful tool for early intervention and educational planning. Keywords: stunting, socio-emotional development, inventory validation, rasch model, early childhood education
