Abstract

The role of information technology in church ministry is becoming increasingly important nowadays. One of the technological developments that is currently widely used in church services is social media. This social media is widely used because it can reach many people very quickly and easily. This research was conducted to understand the strategies that can be used by churches to effectively shepherd the youth generation. The teenage generation is a generation that is very close to social media. The teenage generation is at the stage of searching for identity and is very easily exposed to negative content on social media. This is a reason for the church to be present and provide shepherding through social media to them. This research uses a literature study approach to find four factors that influence the quality of shepherding carried out by churches through social media. These factors are the choice of social media used, content shared, human resources involved and continuous innovation. By paying attention to these four factors, it is hoped that the church will be able to overcome challenges and provide more effective shepherding to the younger generation.

Abstract

People with Mental Disorders (ODGJ) are a marginalized group who often receive inhumane treatment, are discriminated against, abandoned and become victims of violence. This article explores the pastoral care carried out by the Kamilian Order in Sikka, East Nusa Tenggara Province towards the ODGJ group from 2016 to 2023 and reflects on this work in the light of the Gospel of John 4:1-42. The method used is qualitative. Field data was obtained through interviews and participatory observation. The results of the research found that the Kamilian Order had implemented four superior routine programs, namely: 1) conducting professional searches and data collection on ODGJ, 2) building communication and education with patients and their families, 3) providing spiritual services, and 4) building safe houses free of shackles. Through this work, the Kamilian Order has presented a Christ who cares for and saves the small and marginalized, as is the message of the Gospel of John 4:1-42. This research concludes that the Kamilian Order has a significant concern and pastoral role in humanizing ODGJ in Sikka, NTT and realizing the gospel of liberation for marginalized people.

Abstract

Youth is the backbone and the next generation that brings new vision, spirit, and energy in carrying out the mission of the church. However, in church life, youth often face challenges of inactivity in worship and service. The congregation of GMIH Maladom in Porniti Village, Central Jailolo, West Halmahera, North Maluku, also faces this problem. This study aims to analyze the pastor's role as a motivator of youth activeness in worship in terms of transformational leadership. The research used qualitative-descriptive method with observation and interview techniques. The selection of sources was carried out using purposive sampling technique and the research data was analyzed using phenomenological analysis techniques. The results showed that the pastor's leadership in GMIH Maladom congregation can be identified as transformational leadership. Pastors motivate youth by providing vision, creating personal closeness, providing spiritual guidance, giving responsibility, and giving appreciation. This leadership results in positive changes in youth participation in church worship and service. The findings suggest that pastors with a transformational leadership approach can be effective motivators in mobilizing youth to be active in the church.

Abstract

This article focused on Samson's fall when he was in the phase of prosperity and glory. The downfall in this article referred to engaging in sexual sin, corruption, abuse of power and various scandals. The portrait of Samson's fall narrated by the Book of Judges also happened to some spiritual leaders today. The background of the problem accompanied by factual data was the main basis of this article. In writing this article, literature study and hermeneutic approaches were used to design the articles. The formulations of questions asked were what caused Samson's fall in the prosperity phase? And why did church leaders tend to fall in their phase of prosperity? The findings of this article revealed that Samson fell because he was a leader who tended to be difficult to accept advice from others, he was individualistic, narcissistic, and easily swayed by lust. These things were not much different from the downfall of some spiritual leaders today, as a result the image of religious leaders was damaged because of their deeds.

Abstract

Matthew 5:21-22 is part of Matthew's account of Jesus' sermon on the mount, where Jesus presents several antitheses to the law of Moses. These antitheses are not meant to abolish the law but rather to fulfill it and provide a higher standard for Christians in obeying the law. One of the antitheses relates to the commandment not to murder, where Jesus states that someone who is angry and speaks harshly to their brother or sister is already violating the command not to murder and should be punished. In this article, with a grammatical-historical approach, it is evident that Matthew 5:21-22 teaches about the importance of maintaining a clean heart and healthy relationships with others, as well as showing that righteousness is not only seen in physical actions but also in one's attitudes and thoughts.

Abstract

The Christian way of life is a life that must of course be based on faith. That faith is based on belief in Jesus Christ who died and rose and ascended to Heaven. This faith then produces hope for everyone who believes in Christ, namely that they will definitely have eternal life. In this hope, believers are strengthened to remain faithful and live to carry out God's will. They are the ones who can enjoy eternity amidst the temporary nature of this world. In the end, with the Faith and Hope they have, believers can share love with each other. This love certainly comes from the Triune God. This is what pleases and glorifies God in the life of a Christian. This book explicitly and comprehensively explains to believers that aspects of loyalty, honesty, sincerity and holiness of life in following Jesus Christ can only be achieved correctly if they hear God's Word and then examine it correctly. So Faith, Hope and Love significantly emerge in the life of the congregation as a whole.

Abstract

This article aims to reinterpret the imagination of masculinity (Toxic Masculinity) with Theology of Vulnerability as the analytical tool. Focusing on the problem of suicide cases in the world which is still very worrying, including in Indonesia itself, this article argues that one of the reasons is because of this Masculinity Imagination. Quoting data from the World Health Organization (WHO) 2021 Global Health Estimates, of the 6,544 suicides across all ages in Indonesia, 5,095 cases occurred in men. The construction of men must not cry, must be strong, not weak, places them in an excessive imagination of "physical strength". The method used is a literature study using the framework of Vulnerability Theology in analyzing masculinity itself. As a result, fragility and vulnerability are a theology that must be celebrated, not shunned or discarded. Masculinity becomes a problem when it eliminates the femininity that exists in every human being. Masculinity must accept weakness, vulnerability, gentleness as a source of human communion with God.
