Abstract

This paper discusses the impact of gender on the Arabic language in the interpretation of religious texts according to Nasr Hamid Abu Zayd, which relates to the jurisprudence of contemporary Muslim women in a gendered way through his contemporary reading of hermeneuticalism on the texts of the verses of the Qur'an, especially those related to the conditions of Muslim women in his book Circles of Fear: Reading in the Discourse of Women. The search results are that some of his gender views can be studied from his studies on the provisions of provisions relating to women registered in Surat Al-Nisaa, which the topic is about marriage, divorce, polygamy, inheritance, hijab and nakedness. He saw that the articles on women need to be analyzed because there is equality between men and women and gender equality is one of the purposes of legislation.

Abstract

Each distinction has an essay and every article has a distinction, and this term is what is intended to study the science of rhetoric, i.e. conformity of speech to the requirements of the case and brevity is a type of Arab speech and has a place. The case may require brevity in saying, and then eloquence will be in that the speaker be summarized and his speech shortened. And brevity is of two types: shortening is a sign of the many meanings in a few words, and brevity by tapping it is the expression of many meanings in a few words, by deleting something from the composition without prejudice to those suffering, and brief by deleting it may be a part of a word or a word or a sentence or more than a sentence.

Abstract

This article explains how Najib Kaelani erred in recognizing the impression of women in Indonesia in 1965 and his ideological tendencies in making narrative of them through his novel entitled Adza’ Jakarta. As a novel that is considered historical, it is inappropriate to tell the history with certain ideological tendencies. This research applies descriptive analysis method and uses New Historism theory to investigate the novel Adzra’ Jakarta and then compare it with the history of Indonesia in 1965. The conclusion is that the impression of women in Indonesia in 1965 was more dynamic compared to women in Arab who are generally represented in Misogynist.

Abstract

This research studied the relation among green, culture, and language in Al-Qur'an because colour does not address merely about spectrum of colour. It was literature research that based on Roland Barthes's theory of connotation semiotic as this theory is part of linguistic study. The method used was Roland Barthes's semiotic elements through three stages: first was systematic stage ('alaqah ra'siyah) and syntax ('alaqah ufuqiyyah), second was signs; metaphor (majaz) and metonymy (majaz mursal), and third was stage of marking level; context and relation between denotation meaning and connotation meaning. Green in Al-Qur'an consists of four themes: (1) Plants, (2) green wood, (3) prophet Yusuf, and (4) the depiction of paradise.

Abstract

One of the fundamental rules in composing Arabic sentences is the tarkib jumlah ismiyah structure. This research aims to analyze types and patterns of jumlah ismiyah structure used in kitab "al-Akhlaq li Al-Banin" first juz, which consists of 33 chapters. The book written by Umar bin Ahmad Baraja is a famous book studied in various classical Islamic boarding schools in Lombok. It makes this study quite interesting because, in addition to the requirements with the content of educational values for children, this analysis is also expected to add the vocabularies of Arabic studies. This research is library research using qualitative methods. Meanwhile, in data collection and analysis, documentation techniques and inductive descriptive analysis are used. The results of this study indicate that there are 66 compositions or tarkib jumla ismiyyah in this book, both from the aspect of its mubtada' and from the part of its khabar.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the difference meaning in Quranic translation in Bahasa and Malay version and its influence in people's behaviour. The population of this research is the Muslim college students comunity in Indonesia and Malaysia who understand Arabic. The respondent is choosen by simple purpose of sampling and those are 28 students from University Ahmad Dahlan, Indonesia, Universiti Malaya and Univeristi Teknologi MARA, Malaysia. The data were generated using qualitative descriptive research instrument, such as documentaries studies, questionnaires, and interviews. The data were analyzed using speaking and listening method and recording and coding method. The findings show that the differences in translation of word auliya' in QS Al-Maidah 51 affect people's behaviour in choosing the political leader, in both of Indonesia and Malaysia. Meanwhile, the differences in translation of word khiftum in QS an-Nisa' 3 affects and is affected Indonesian and Malaysian's culture in polygamy practice.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the form of nidā', kinds of munādā, and the meanings contained in the style of nidā’ language and kalām afterward. This research discusses the style of nidā’ with the object of Sura Yusuf, using stylistic analysis. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method, which is library research.The problem raised in this research is how the form and kinds of nidā’ and munādā, the meaning of the style of nida’ and later kalam in the sura Yusuf. The results obtained in this research are, in the sura Yusuf there are two forms of nidā’, namely lafdziyyah and ghairulafdziyyah, and three kindsmunādā, namely mudhāf, nakirahmaqshūdah, and mufradalam. While the nidā’ in the sura Yusuf followed by four kalām namelyamr, nahy, khabar, and istifhām with the meaning of haqīqī and majazī.

Abstract

Applied linguistic scholars agree that grammar is an essential aspect of teaching Arabic to a non-native speaker. Therefore, it is impossible to conduct any language to students without teaching its grammar, and it is challenging for the teachers. This research focuses on the overview of Arabic grammatical and its importance in teaching Arabic to non-native speakers. Additionally, it describes what aspects teachers should pay attention to in teaching grammar and offers several methods to be implemented based on academic research and teaching experience.

Abstract

This research is aimed to find the language exegetics in Zamakhsyari's attempt to interpret Al-Quran. He also expertise in the Arabic language, rhetoric, literature, and Islamic studies. He is also well-known as a Mu'tazilah scholar. This study tries to find the language aspects related to Zamakhsyari's explanation of religious discourse. According to Ibn Khaliikan, Zamakhsyari is a scholar in Arabic grammatical, language, poetry, and literature. He speaks standard Arabic fluently. Quran is the guidance for humankind, and it is inimitability. It also contains beautifulness in language and style. Hundreds of Mu'tazilah scholars had written interpretation of Al-Quran. However, one noticeable interpretation book that could provide a comprehensive explanation is an interpretation book written by Zamakhsyari known as al-Kashshaf. This study focuses on explaining Zamakhsyari's linguistic thought in interpreting the Quran.

Abstract

This research aims to 1) define the washfī phrase in the translated Arabic novel of Girls of Riyadh by Marilyn Booth, 2) describe the technique, method, and quality of translation, 3) to define the ideology of the washfī phrase. This research used the descriptive qualitative method. The respondents evaluated the accuracy, acceptability, and readability of the translation result. This research data resourced with formal and material objects. The material object consists of two Arabic and English version novels. The formal object consists of the washfī phrase of both the novels at once questionnaire. The result of this research there are two kinds of techniques, they are: 1) single variant technique, 2) couplet variant technique. They are 11 techniques: 1) literal 3, 2) established equivalent 3, 3) reduction 1, 4) deletion 3, 5) borrowing 1, 6) generalization 1, 7) particularization 2, 8) variation 4, 9) adaptation 1, 10) addition 1, 11) discursive creation 2, 12) linguistic compression 1, 13) modulation 2. Couplet variant techniques are: 1) deletion+literal 1, 2) modulation+addition 1, 3) modulation+literal 1, 4) particularization + borrowing 1, 5) linguistic compression + particularization 2. This washfī phrase translation has high accuracy levels score 3, high acceptability 2, and low legibility levels 1.
