Abstract

This research studies about leadership education in pondok pesantren by focusing on aspects of planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling in the management of leadership education santri. The aims are to obtain a comprehensive description of the implementation of the management functions which include planning, organizing, actuating, and controlling in leadership education santri at pondok pesantren. Qualitative approach used in this study. Interview, observation and documentation used as a data collection tools. interactive model of data analysis was employed to analyze the data in this study with consist of three activities which are data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The reliability of results were obtained with four criteria are: credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability. The results showed planning implementation include the formulation of the program, the establishment of the curriculum, and grouping santri based on the level of maturity of leadership. Organizing involves the division of tasks and the establishment of working groups. Actuating includes training and coaching santri in conducting leadership training program. Controlling includes reporting and evaluation. Recommendations from the study's findings are all the components should always complement and maintain continuity of leadership education program santri. In addition, organize activities that support the achievement of leadership education programs.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the continuous professional development which covers self-development, scientific publications, and innovative works on Islamic religious education teachers in Bandar Lampung city, Indonesia. This study employs the qualitative-descriptive approach with the teachers, principals, the chairperson of Islamic religious education Subject Teachers' Conference (MGMP), and the head of State Office of Education Bandar Lampung as the sources of data. The data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The data analysis techniques used were data triangulation through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This study discovers that 1) to develop themselves, the teachers join MGMP activities, training, workshops, seminars, and others, 2) for scientific publications in the form of scientific papers, the teachers participate in the national level competitions and workbooks writing although, in a minimal amount, 3) for innovative work, the teachers prepare the learning standards, learning guidelines, semester exam questions, syllabus development, lesson plan development, teaching materials development, editing blueprints of Islamic religious education questions although without continuous innovation. It recommended to foster self-development, scientific publications, and work innovation, PAI teachers in junior high schools should take part in training, seminars, and workshops, both independently and held by the education offices by taking into account good management theories, namely activities designed based on needs analysis, coordination with all institutions. The implementation of activities should have precise and measured outputs. An evaluation is also needed to find out whether the self-development, scientific publications, and innovative works have achieved or not.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) explore the process of developing public relation management (PR) implemented by the school to build school image 2) find out the implications of the image built by the school for the school progress, 3) provide the solution for the public relation management to build the image. This study applies a qualitative method with a case study approach at Excellent Elementary School of 'Aisyiyah Bantul, an Indonesian private elementary school. Data collection techniques are done by interviewing and collecting digital documents from the Facebook account and Instagram account. Purposive sampling done in selecting participant and triangulation is used to check the validity of the data. The results illustrate that the school applies public relation management through planned steps; those are: setting goals, organizing teamwork, skill-based task force division, planning strategies, maximizing the use of social media. A school's image has some implications for increasing the number of students, increasing school performance, improving the quality of school staff, expanding the school network, saving promotion costs, and school competitiveness. This study offers a solution in applying public relation by optimizing digital platforms to implement public relation management to build school image.

Abstract

The purpose of the research is to describe the implementation of strengthening character education at the Vocational High School in Bengkulu. This research is a quantitative descriptive study. The study population was 156 students, and the study sample used a random sampling sample of 75 students. Data collection techniques using a questionnaire. Data analysis techniques using percentage analysis. The results showed the application of strengthening of character education  Vocational High Schools in Bengkulu; in general, the level has implemented with functional categories with a level of accomplishment reaching 75.4%. Specifically, the religious character value is good (78%), the nationalist is good (74%), independent is good (72%), cooperation is good (77%), and integrity is good (76%). It means that the strengthening of character education consists of religious, nationalist, independent, cooperation, and integrity values carried out by teachers and students according to school programs

Abstract

In the digital era, the ability of schools to access and provide ICT resources is very important. This study examines the level of accessibility and use of ICT resources in school management in Mindanao State University's main campus (MSU MC). It aims to give a picture of the current profile of the ICT facilities in the university particularly those employed for school management through describing the accessibility of those ICT facilities by taking into account their availability and convenience of access and its use by pertaining to the ICT user-ability of the human resource of the university. This study was incited due to the visible difficulties met by the students as well as the teacher and staff in the school management activities in MSU MC despite the application of ICT in it. The data for this study were collected through a semi-structured survey, interviews, and document reviews of related literature. Correlation of the variables was tested using the chi-square test. And the comparative analysis of the opinions of the groups of respondents was done through a t-test. The results of this study find that over-all, the current ICT facility of the university is claimed as fairly effective in school management that only Plagiarism is seen as the most prevalent negative consequence on its implementation. In addition, the correlation analysis in this study discloses that ICT accessibility and user-ability have no direct relationship with effective school management. And although the comparative analysis showed that there is a significant difference of opinions between the groups of respondents, its statistical value proved only that the variance of the opinions of the groups of respondents is only little. These results evidently reflect that the ICT facility in MSU MC is not so much defective. However, the research results also reveal that the problems in the availability and convenience of ICT tools in MSU MC as well as in the user-ability of the human resource in ICT are pretty much important aspects of an excellent ICT facility like strong internet bandwidth, need of maintenance and update on latest ICT trends, motivation to use ICT tools, etc. Thus, this study recommends that the ICT resources in MSU MC for school management should be further developed as seen appropriate

Abstract

Religious culture is applied in schools so that the good habits of students, so that the strategy of developing religious culture is essential to be applied to schools so that students have a noble character in Islamic education. The purpose of this study is to describe the strategy of developing a religious culture to shape students' character. This research is qualitative. Data collection obtained through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation studies. This study's subject was determined based on a purposive sampling technique with information from the homeroom teacher. Checking the validity of the data starts with using a check and continues with the triangulation technique. The results showed that the strategy of developing a culture of religious and improving the character of students at SD Muhammadiyah Tonggalan, 1) creating a religious atmosphere in schools including allocating half an hour to learn to read the Qur'an before the lesson begins, do the Dhuha, Dhuhr, Asr prayer,  Ramadan fasting, qurban worship, hajj rituals, social services, Sunday morning teachings,  also (2) habituation of Islamic values. The research findings expected to illustrate that the strategy of developing religious culture can shape students' character.

Abstract

Currently, the implementation of religious education is faced with various problems both internally such as its learning methodology, and externals such as the strengthening of the culture of materialism, consumerism, and hedonism, which has led to changes in people's lifestyle. In this context, it is very important for Islamic education innovations to improve the quality of Islamic education learning, to answer the challenges of globalization today. This study aims to find Islamic education learning innovations that are integrative-interconnective based on direct experience in Brawijaya University. Therefore, this research included case study research with data collection techniques using interviews, observation, and documentation. Data analysis uses descriptive-qualitative analysis. The results of the study show that Islamic education innovation in Brawijaya University covers several things, namely the paradigm, approach, strategy, method, and learning evaluation system. The learning paradigm is changed from dichotomous to integrative-interconnective, the learning approach is oriented towards student-centered with focus, namely problem, spiritual-scientific, and philosophical-normative. Learning strategies cover direct instruction, contextual teaching and learning, problem-based learning, and meaningful learning. Learning methods are oriented to direct experience. While the evaluation does not only lead to cognitive aspects but affective and psychomotor aspects by using observation and self-assessment techniques. The implications for understanding students are getting better. It can be seen in the result of student grades.

Abstract

The transition of TQM from the business field in education started in 1994 to strengthen the humanistic nature of education and improve quality service with the full participation of all involved. Cyprus recognized as a country with highly developed education services and qualitative characteristics that are easily identifiable. However, no studies are published yet concerning the implementation of TQM in Cyprus. The purpose is to examine the design and implementation of TQM at primary and secondary school settings in Cyprus and create a reference point of collecting all partial findings of TQM implementation in Cypriot education. A systematic recording of research included the design and implementation of TQM in education settings using ten electronic databases and keywords including education, TQM and the six factors determining the quality of TQM services. The research included peer-reviewed articles, doctoral theses, and conference abstracts during the last 20 years, leading to future TQM implementation conclusions. Cyprus nowadays focuses on the overall evaluation and implementation of TQM through innovation and quality improvement in education, differentiated and virtual teaching, adapted learning and inclusion of students with disabilities, and hiring new teaching staff that will implement a holistic approach of promoting TQM within school settings.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected all aspects of life, also education. Educators worldwide have had to adapt the situation by developing online learning models to keep education running. The present study aims at developing online learning resources using websites and the POE2WE model of parabolic motion material. The POE2WE model was represented as six stages of online learning that includes Prediction, Observation, Explanation, Elaboration, Write, and Evaluation. 30 students of 10th grade of a high school in Indonesia participated in this study. The ADDIE model (analyzing, designing, developing, implementing and evaluating) used in this study representing its R&D methodology with the evaluating stage carried out in every other stage. The online learning model validated with three different experts, namely media, material, and learning expert resulting in 89.40%, 89.31%, and 86.71%. The results indicated that the model was valid and reliable. Pre-test and post-test conducted to investigate the effects of the learning model, which resulted in 40.03% and 82.73% respectively, with the N-gain mean result in high category (0.71). It can conclude that the online learning model developed in this study was effective in increasing students understanding of parabolic motion.

Abstract

Management is a staple component that cannot separate from Islamic educational institutions. Without management, the purpose of the institution cannot realize optimally, effectively, and efficiently. Problems in educational institutions, usually dealing with the service to the customers of Islamic education. This research is qualitative research aimed to know about planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating the quality management of Islamic education services. This research method uses a quantitative approach, in the process of data collection is carried out in four types of data collection techniques, namely observation, interview, documentation, and survey. The results of the calculation of customer satisfaction of Islamic education, in order to get a satisfaction index of 71% of the services provided by Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Husna Ciledug, so that it must make improvements in the quality of service, this is because in the calculation of the overall Servqual gap value still shows a negative value of -0.71 to the service provided by Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Al-Husna Ciledug. Improvement of service quality carried out on attributes that have the highest gap. The purpose of improving the quality of service is to give parents satisfaction as customers of Islamic education can be accommodated.
