Abstract

This article discusses the social problems that occur in a literary work, namely the novel Entrok by Okky Madasari so that the emergence of an interesting social criticism to study. In the study of the sociology of literature, Soekanto and Sulistyowati revealed that there are nine types of social criticism, including 1) poverty, 2) crime, 3) family disorganization, 4) the problem of the younger generation in modern society, 5) war, 6) violation of norms. society, 7) population, 8) environment, and 9) bureaucracy. The theory is used as a reference to analyze the social criticism that exists in the Entrok novel because it is felt that there are many things that are relevant to the theory and many problems are quite complex in society at that time. This study uses qualitative research methods by applying literature studies as a source of research findings. After that the object is studied based on the theory of sociology of literature focused on social criticism to get a conclusion in the results of the study. The purpose of this research is to find out a social critique of a society's life in a literary novel which can later be used as a comparison in other literary works related to the theory of literary social criticism.

Abstract

This article aims to discuss the canonization of literature in the field of education, especially language and literature teaching. The research method is literature study which is used to discuss important elements regarding literary canonization. The results of the discussion include; (1) canonical literature can be used in the current era of disruption, (2) literary learning is used to find a realm of appreciation for students, (3) literary learning can also be an indoctrination of positive attitudes or values.

Abstract

There are many positive impacts of globalization to support human life today, but it cannot be denied that there is also a negative influence of globalization on regional cultural roots which have actually shaped the character of this nation. Oral literature, as a form of regional culture, has power in terms of human change, through literary works readers/listeners can understand and appreciate various life problems. Efforts are needed to preserve it so that it continues to exist and be sustainable, so that it is able to protect society's morality from the bad influences of globalization. This article attempts to describe the current situation regarding the preservation of the oral literature of the Sai Batin community in West Lampung Regency. This research uses qualitative descriptive methods, data collection uses observation, interview and documentation techniques. Followed by data reduction activities, presentation and drawing conclusions. The research results show that there is oral literature that can be found, including Butettah, Ngehahedo, Nyambai, Muayak as well as Bubandung and Hahiwang. However, some of these things no longer exist in the context of tradition. The existence of Ngehahedo and Muayak is only found on YouTube pages, competitions and art performances.

Abstract

: This research contains how to apply the small group discussion model in learning to write argumentative paragraphs. Judging from the needs of teachers and students in achieving learning objectives, this learning method is considered effective, so this research is a solution offered in learning to write argumentative paragraphs using the small group discussion learning model. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method because the method or technique for collecting data and analyzing data in this research uses word or sentence descriptions from the results of the simple formulas presented. Using data collection techniques, it is then analyzed to produce conclusions that have a positive impact on students and teachers. The results obtained in this study show that the average score obtained was 78.16, which is in the good category. A total of 38 students or out of the total number of students, 8 students or 21.05% scored in the very good category. A total of 30 students or 78.94% obtained scores in the range 75-89 in the good category. It can be concluded that this research is very useful for teachers and students in applying the small group discussion learning model for learning argumentative paragraphs.

Abstract

The lack of references according to student needs is a problem in this research. For this reason, this research aims to analyze the need for developing teaching materials for writing scientific papers. The method used is descriptive and qualitative with research subjects being students of STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung Semester III and V. The data collection tools used are interview guidelines and questionnaires. Data analysis uses Miles & Huberman data analysis with data reduction, data presentation and data validation. The research results require teaching materials, namely books according to the learning objectives. It is hoped that this research can become a reference in creating or developing teaching materials in the form of books as a learning medium for writing scientific papers.

Abstract

Illocutionary speech acts are often used in everyday language as humans do when speaking. The focus of this research is the use of illocutionary speech acts in advertising language on television stations, analysis and interpretation of illocutionary speech acts and utterances in each illocutionary speech act, as well as food and drink advertisements on Trans Tv. This research approach is qualitative, and the type of speech act research is assertive. The data collection method for this research is by listening to and recording spoken conversations in written language research video advertisements for food and drinks. The research results found that there were 40 pieces of data including assertive type illocutionary speech acts.

Abstract

This research aims to describe students' ability to read poetry before and after using the somatic, auditory, visualization, intellectual learning model, third semester students at STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung. The type of research used is quantitative research. Furthermore, this research method is an experimental method with a one group pretest-posttest design. Data collection uses a poetry reading test. Data analysis uses statistical techniques with the t-test formula. Based on the results of the research and discussion, it can be concluded that the ability of third semester students at STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung in reading poetry before using the somatic, auditory, visualization, intellectual learning model, received a failure category with an average score of 38.11. Then, after applying the somatic, auditory, visualization, intellectual model, it received a good category with an average score of 71.6. At the 5% significance level, the t table is 2.04 and the t count is 14.29. In this case, it shows that the calculated t is greater than the t table. Based on the t test calculation, it is proven that "t" is the critical price of "t table" ("t" is greater than the critical price of "t table"). Thus, the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected, this means that the somatic, auditory, visualization, intellectual model is effectively applied in learning to read poetry for third semester students at STKIP PGRI Bandar Lampung.

Abstract

This research aims to describe and analyze the level of student ability in using conjunctions in descriptive essays for class  add references to books in the school library, especially those related to the use of descriptive essays.  The problem raised in this research is the ability to use conjunctions in descriptive essays in class X even semester students at SMA Perintis 2 Bandar Lampung.  To achieve the research objectives mentioned above, the author uses a descriptive method, namely by analyzing the accuracy of the use of conjunctions in descriptive essays written by students, calculating and percentageing the level of student mastery in using conjunctions in descriptive essays based on the rules for using conjunctions well and correctly. The results of the research show that students' mastery of using conjunctions in descriptive essays is relatively poor.

Abstract

This article discusses a research conducted at Adiguna High School in Bandar Lampung regarding the implementation of Genre Based Approach in teaching reading. The study aims to investigate how Indonesian language teachers apply Genre Based Approach in teaching various types of texts and to identify the difficulties faced by the teachers in using this approach. The research method used is descriptive with observation and interview as the research instruments. Observation is conducted to obtain an overview of how Indonesian language teachers apply Genre Based Approach in teaching various types of texts, while interviews are conducted to identify the difficulties faced by the teachers in using Genre Based Approach. The results of the observation show that the teachers repeat the same activities in applying Genre Based Approach in every class, while the interview results reveal that the difficulties faced include limited student vocabulary, lack of motivation, and limited time to teach using GBA.
