Abstract

Digital goods have significantly transformed industries and consumer behavior, with Life Planning Apps, Music Streaming Services, and Game Skins becoming integral to daily life. The study aims to explore consumers' psychological ownership of diverse digital goods and its impact on willingness to pay and purchase intentions. It examines differences in perceived value, anticipated enjoyment, and relevance across various digital products. A survey was conducted with 138 participants recruited via MTurk, who were presented with scenarios for each type of digital product. Participants' responses were measured using a 7-point Likert scale to evaluate various consumer behavior aspects. Data were analyzed using repeated measures ANOVA and regression analyses. The results show notable differences in consumer perceptions and intentions among the three categories of digital goods. Music streaming services are perceived as culturally integrated and highly valued, leading to strong consumer engagement. Life planning apps evoke a high sense of personal ownership due to their deep integration into users' daily routines, resulting in high perceived value and relevance. In contrast, game skins are seen as less essential, reflecting lower levels of psychological ownership and perceived value. The study concludes that psychological ownership significantly impacts consumers' willingness to pay, purchase intentions, anticipated enjoyment, and perceived value across all types of digital goods. These findings highlight the critical role of psychological ownership in digital marketing strategies, suggesting that enhancing consumers' sense of ownership can improve engagement and satisfaction with digital products.

Abstract

Industrial wastewater treatment should be the focus of any industry using water to decrease the dependency on the scarce fresh water and to guarantee a safe disposal of the treated water. Wastewater treatment requires tailored processes based on the desired input wastewater quality measured by parameters such as pH, TDS, and turbidity and the desired application of the treated water. Wastewater properties vary by source, such as municipal, industrial, agricultural, and household, with the industrial wastewater being the most polluted. Water quality standards are set by organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Environment in each country. This work proposes a system that involves a smart water quality management system using Internet of Things (IoT) devices such as sensors for real-time monitoring and actuators for controlling the water quality. This system treats the output wastewater from a detergent production line through sedimentation and filtration. Key water quality parameters: pH, TDS, and turbidity are monitored and controlled to meet the Egyptian Ministry of Environment's standards for disposal into Nobaria Canal. The treated water can be reused in applications like production lines, firefighting, or irrigating of ornamental plants. The system is programmed with Arduino software, and sensor data is displayed using Realterm software.

Abstract

Water, food, and energy are vital resources for humanity. This work introduces a system design, results, economic model, and solutions for an aquaculture smart system enabling monitoring and control of fish farming tanks’ water quality. Reducing water usage, producing better quality food, reducing production costs, and optimizing the aquaculture water quality are the results of this research. System design and an economic model are presented together with the system data of the working prototype including calibration, verification, and validation. A mobile application was developed to observe and regulate the quality parameters of water. This research implements Internet of Things tools to monitor and control the parameters through embedded sensors for temperature, turbidity, pH, and water level/consumption. The system automatically intervenes online depending on the value of the measured parameters through a controller-predefined logic to set the parameters within acceptable limits. The verification and validation of results are presented by comparing the online and offline data measurements. The work also presents an economic analysis comparing financial indicators for traditional and smart farms including sensitivity analysis. The system implementation leads to a reduction in water consumption by 42%, and an 8% utilization of the actuators, leading to very low energy consumption and longer actuators’ useful life. The system also produces higher-quality fish satisfying the EU standards due to the controlled living environment.

Abstract

Indonesia's strategic geographical position fuels the critical role of national waters in the world economy. This geographical potential has consequences for Indonesia's maritime security. As a naval defence force, the Indonesian Navy is tasked with defending national jurisdiction, enforcing the law, supporting foreign policy, and developing naval power. The Navy's current power development focuses on achieving optimal operational readiness (operational ready force) by increasing mobility, combat power, and alert capability in facing actual and potential threats. One of the priorities in developing the Navy's defence equipment is the procurement of transport/escort helicopters to support the landing of Pasrat (GKK Lintas Heli) in Amphibious Operations. Therefore, this research aims to analyse the selection of escort helicopters to support the Navy's operational ready force using the Analytical Network Process (ANP) method. The ANP method is a new approach in the decision-making process that provides a general framework for treating decisions without making assumptions about the independence of elements at higher levels from elements at lower levels and about the independence of elements within a level. The escort helicopter alternatives selected in this study are Airbus EC-665, Bell AH-1Z, Boeing AH-64E, and TAI T-129, which have essential factors including range, speed, weapons, and sensors. The analysis results show that the main criterion in selecting escort helicopters is the weapon factor, and the best helicopter is Airbus EC-665' Tiger'.
