Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of critical and creative thinking skills in Pancasila Education learning at Penggerak Elementary School with a focus on Phase B. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, and data are presented descriptively through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results of the study indicate that the planning for the implementation of critical and creative thinking skills has been structured in the teaching module. During the implementation, teachers apply active learning strategies such as group discussions and presentations that successfully involve students actively and facilitate the development of critical and creative thinking skills. Evaluation of the implementation of critical and creative thinking skills is not only seen from learning outcomes, but teachers also assess the learning process and reflection of students. Pancasila Education learning does not only emphasize mastery of content, but also the formation of critical and creative thinking patterns. This study provides recommendations for teachers to continue developing student independence in thinking and documenting the learning process more systematically to support improving the quality of learning in the future.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the ethnomathematics-based PJBL learning model on improving students' numeracy literacy skills in reading and writing numbers at Patuk II Public Elementary School, Gunungkidul. This research was motivated by students' low numeracy literacy skills, characterized by difficulty understanding basic mathematical concepts and low interest in learning. The research method used was quantitative with a one- group pretest-posttest design. The study sample involved 18 fourth-grade students at Patuk II Public Elementary School, Gunungkidul. Data were collected through observation, testing, and documentation. The research instrument consisted of essay questions designed to measure students' numeracy literacy, specifically on the topic of plane figures related to the local cultural context. The results showed that the implementation of ethnomathematics- based PJBL significantly improved students' numeracy literacy skills. The average pretest score of 46.39 increased to 84.33 in the posttest. Hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test yielded a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), indicating a significant difference between the pretest and posttest results. Thus, it can be concluded that the ethnomathematics-based PJBL model is effective in improving elementary school students' numeracy literacy skills.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study investigates the enduring relevance curriculum of Ibn Sina's (Avicenna's) 11th-century concepts of child education in contemporary pedagogical practice. Background: As modern education systems grapple with balancing cognitive and character development, Ibn Sina's holistic approach from the Islamic Golden Age offers valuable insights that remain understudied in current literature. Aims: The research examines three key objectives: (1) analyzing Ibn Sina's educational framework for children, (2) evaluating its alignment with modern developmental theories, and (3) identifying implementation strategies for Indonesian classrooms. Methods: A qualitative systematic review was conducted, analyzing primary sources (Ibn Sina's original texts) and 35 secondary sources (2018-2023 peer-reviewed articles) through thematic coding. Results: Findings reveal four persistent relevancies: (a) developmental stage-based curriculum mirroring modern constructivist approaches, (b) integrated moral-intellectual-physical development anticipating heutagogy principles, (c) non-punitive teaching methods aligning with trauma-informed education, and (d) teacher competency standards resembling Indonesia's Guru Penggerak framework. Conclusion: Ibn Sina's philosophy provides a viable model for addressing contemporary education gaps, particularly in character education and differentiated learning. Contributions: The study offers three practical innovations: (1) a crosswalk matrix connecting classical Islamic pedagogy with 21st-century skills, (2) evidence-based recommendations for Indonesia's Merdeka Curriculum reform, and (3) a theoretical framework for culturally responsive pedagogy in Muslim-majority contexts. Keywords: Islamic pedagogy, child development, curriculum design, educational philosophy

Abstract

The implementation of ecoliteracy in elementary schools is an important strategy in shaping students' green behavior from an early age as part of character education and ecological awareness. This study aims to describe the application of ecoliteracy in improving students' green behavior at SD Negeri Gumpang 01, a school that has won the Adiwiyata School award at the Central Java Province level. The method used was descriptive qualitative research with a naturalistic approach, involving the principal, teachers, and students as research subjects. Data collection was conducted through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, with interactive analysis techniques and triangulation of sources and methods to ensure data validity. The results showed that the implementation of ecoliteracy was carried out through integration in the local wisdom-based curriculum, project-based learning, extracurricular activities, collaboration with parents and communities, and utilization of media and technology. This strategy clearly encourages increased student self-awareness, changes in attitudes and habits, and a growing sense of social responsibility for the environment. The implementation of ecoliteracy not only increases students' understanding of the importance of protecting the ecosystem, but also internalizes ecological values into daily life. Thus, learning integrated with environmental values can form a sustainable school culture. The implementation of ecoliteracy not only improves students' understanding of the importance of maintaining the ecosystem, but also internalizes ecological values into daily life. Thus, learning integrated with environmental values can form a sustainable school culture and strengthen the character of environmental care in elementary school students.

Abstract

Mathematics learning in elementary schools often faces challenges in improving students' conceptual understanding, especially in fractions. A fifth-grade teacher at Sd Negeri 61 Banda Aceh City, Mrs. N, said in an interview session that during the teaching and learning process in the classroom, teachers still tend to use lecture methods as is generally used so that the teaching and learning process in the classroom is conventional and lacks creativity during learning, students are unable to implement it into real life. The Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach provides a solution by connecting mathematical concepts with real-life contexts, making it easier for students to understand and apply fraction concepts more meaningfully. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the RME model in fraction learning and its effect on elementary school students' conceptual understanding. The research method used is a quasi-experimental study with a pretest-posttest control group design. The research subjects consisted of fifth-grade elementary school students who were divided into an experimental group (with RME) and a control group (with conventional methods). The research instruments included conceptual understanding tests, observations, and interviews to obtain quantitative and qualitative data. The results showed that students who learned with the RME approach experienced a more significant increase in conceptual understanding compared to students who learned using conventional methods. RME-based learning can help students construct fraction concepts through exploration of contextual situations, group discussions, and reflection on problem-solving strategies. Therefore, using this approach can be an effective strategy in improving the quality of fraction learning in elementary schools.
