Abstract

Purpose: This service aims to increase the attractiveness of MSME products in Duren Seribu Village, Depok City, by strengthening branding and packaging. Methodology/Approach: This service was designed using community-based assessment methods. This study included a market review of brand name and logo selection, packaging design, brand promotion, and communication strategies. This review process involved MSME owners, product users, and branching experts. In addition, we used graphic design software and data analysis tools to optimize branching and packaging. Results: The results of this service show that strengthening Branding and packaging can increase the attractiveness of MSME products. Strategies such as choosing a logo and brand name, attractive packaging design, promotion via social media, and creating a brand story have proven effective in strengthening the branching and packaging of MSME products. Limitations: This study provides a transparent assessment of its scope and potential biases. Some limitations may include the small sample size, potential respondent biases, and inherent challenges of capturing the complex and multifaceted nature of the branding and packaging impact on MSMEs. Contribution: This study enriches the literature on UMKM development by providing a nuanced understanding of the role of branding and packaging in rural contexts, specifically within Desa Duren Seribu and Kota Depok. The insights gained from this study may contribute to the formulation of tailored strategies and interventions that can be replicated in similar rural settings, aiding the sustainable growth of the UMKM.

Abstract

Purpose: The community service aims to enhance Natural Science teachers’ knowledge related to learning assessment and their skills in processing data using Rasch analysis. Methodology/approach: The community service runs as hybrid training (offline and online) for a teacher community called a Natural Science MGMP, which included 34 Junior High School Natural Science Teachers in the Sumenep Regency. This activity was carried out as training and mentoring for two days, where participants learned Rasch analysis based on theory and practice. They were then required to fill in the pretest and post-test to obtain data regarding participants’ knowledge and skills related to this training. Results: The results of the pre-test and post-test were analyzed using the paired t-test for the knowledge aspect. There was a significant increase after being given Rasch analysis material, since the standard deviation of the post-test was higher than that of the pre-test. On the other hand, the skill aspect also showed a significant increase after Rasch analysis, with a higher standard deviation after treatment. Furthermore, the N-Gain Score was used to determine the extent to which participants’ knowledge and skills differed after training in the Rasch analysis. Limitations: This community service has several limitations including technical problems and participants. Some participants found it difficult to install and operate Ministep/Winstep because such software is not compatible with their device or new software. Moreover, several teachers did not fill in the pre-test and post-test; hence, it was difficult to assess their progress after the training. Contribution: This program can contribute to improving Natural Science teachers’ knowledge and skills in learning assessment, especially for teachers in Sumenep Regency.

Abstract

Purpose: Mlese Village is one of the villages in the Klaten Regency with a relatively strong local cultural base. Although most of the population works as farmers, local cultural preservation activities are maintained in community life. Mlese Village has a Lokabadra cultural art park built as a center for creative industry development to facilitate community interests. This art and culture park was made to be an activity center, creative industry development center, and business incubator for the village. However, because the growth rate of the business incubator is yet to be optimal, community groups who support business units need to receive assistance and increase their personal capacity to optimize the use of the Lokabadra Cultural Arts Park area. Methodology: This community service activity was carried out at the Mlese Village Cultural Park and aimed at the Lokabadra youth group. This workshop and mentoring was attended by 21 people and held for a full day. To maximize the benefits of this activity, the supporting community is also involved, so that all parties have a harmonious vision in developing Lokabadra business activities. Results: Three materials were prepared to conduct workshop activities: marketing strategy, business-space arrangement, product quality, and product presentation enhancement. The culinary development sector, one of Lokabadra's commercial sectors, was the focus of this workshop. During the workshop, attendees engaged in active consultation with resource individuals to deliberate on matters such as business space layout design, product display plans, and marketing media. The results of this activity were immediately implemented by rearranging business locations and product packaging. Limitations: Limited time, funds, synchronization, and harmonization of agendas between the parties to support the optimization of the Mlese village business incubator center are the main limitations of this program. Contribution: This mentoring activity contributes to increasing the skills and insight of the supporting community in optimizing Lokabadra's role as the business incubation center of Mlese Village.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to show that the Reflection Pedagogy Paradigm approach helps primary school-aged children who are members of Sekami to actively engage in church life, gain a deeper understanding of their faith, and develop relevant faith life skills. By engaging children in the process of reflection, the church can create a learning environment that is inclusive, interactive, and impactful in children's spiritual development. Method: The activity model followed the dynamics of the Reflection Pedagogy Paradigm, which includes five continuous steps: context, experience, reflection, action, and evaluation.  Activities took place in the Riangkotek and Lamatou Parish of Santu Alfonsus de Liquori Riangkotek. The total number of participants included in the study was 100. Activities were conducted during the first and fourth weeks of September and October 2023. Result: The results of this activity and study show that the pedagogical approach of reflection can help Sekami to understand his role as prophet, priest and king, which are the three tasks of Jesus that must be carried out by the followers of Jesus. Through this, they can recognize and explore their abilities in the fields of religion and Catholic faith. The result of this recognition and exploration can help them gain an awareness of their role as prophets, priests, and kings. It is hoped that, through this, they will gradually become committed to growing in their Catholic faith and practicing it in their daily lives as Catholics. Limitations: This study was limited to the internal community in Riangkotek village and Lamatou Parish of Santu Alfonsus de Liquori Riangkotek. It targets the theme of the commitment of Sekami children as Catholics, and uses the paradigm approach of reflection pedagogy. Contribution: The results of this study will contribute to humanities education, religious education, and character building for elementary school children.

Abstract

Purpose: This community service is conducted with the aim of increasing community understanding, which will build perceptions and take positive action in managing household waste. Methodology/approach: Community service activities were conducted in Sialang Rindang Village, the working area of the Tambusai Health Center, Rokan Hulu Regency, from November 27 to December 14, 2023. The stages of implementing community service activities began with a pre-test to measure participants' abilities and understanding of household waste management. Subsequently, several interventions were conducted, including outreach, aimed at increasing public understanding and awareness. At the end of the program, a post-test was conducted to determine the level of success in implementing community services. Results/findings: Community service activities begin by deepening the information/evidence base on waste management problems and coordinating community service plans. The results of the field study showed that household waste management only involves the accumulation and burning of waste. Based on the initial information, verification efforts were carried out for further service in the form of counseling/socialization on household waste management for housewives whose activities were focused on the Integrated Healthcare Center. Another service effort is community empowerment through (STBM) cadres to realize community independence in managing household waste. To foster public interest and awareness, a trigger is needed for the community so that waste management efforts can produce products, and waste management assistance is carried out using the 3R method. The waste produced can be managed well and produces products of economic value. Contribution: This research contributes to the literature in the form of attitude change based on an in-depth understanding. This effort allows for attitudes and actions based on continuous understanding. Limitations: The limitations of this service in ongoing monitoring and evaluation are not carried out directly by researchers but by health services.
