Abstract

This study aims to examine the implementation of wasathiyah (Islamic moderation) values in the integrated Islamic Religious Education (PAI) curriculum through phenomenological and sociological approaches. The research is grounded in the lack of in-depth empirical studies on how teachers and students contextually internalize moderate Islamic values. This study fills the gap in PAI curriculum research, which has largely been normative and textual. Employing a qualitative method with phenomenological and sociological approaches, data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation at SD Bina Anak Sholeh Tuban. Data analysis was conducted through reduction, categorization, and interpretation of the participants’ subjective meanings and social dynamics. The findings reveal that wasathiyah values such as tawazun (balance), i’tidal (justice), and tasamuh (tolerance) are not only taught cognitively but are also experienced in real-life learning and social relationships, fostering harmony between spirituality and rationality in everyday life.

Abstract

Currently, Indonesia is facing post-Covid-19 Pandemic conditions. The implementation of the Independent Curriculum is important in the context of post-pandemic learning recovery. In its implementation, the Independent Curriculum emphasizes mastery of minimum competency assessments rooted in the ability to reason using language (literacy). This study aims to describe the development of children's literacy through the science story reading method. This study is a qualitative descriptive study. The subjects of the study were grade IV students of SD Negeri 2 Penatih. Data were obtained through interviews, observations and document studies related to the science story reading method applied in the school. The collected data were then analyzed using the Miles and Huberman Model which consists of the data collection stage, data reduction stage, data presentation stage and conclusion drawing stage and data verification. The results of the study showed that the implementation of the science story reading method consisted of three activities, namely; (1) understanding the meaning of reading stories, (2) understanding story elements and (3) practicing reading stories guided by student worksheets (LKS). The science story reading method applied was able to develop children's literacy. This can be proven through the high level of student interaction in learning and learning outcomes through LKS that were completed well. Through the method of reading science stories, students are invited to practice reasoning about science so that it can later have an impact on increasing their understanding.

Abstract

Islamic education during the New Order era (1966–1998) experienced complex dynamics amid ideological pressures and authoritarian, centralized government policies. This study aims to examine the concepts and policies of Islamic education during this period and identify the challenges and opportunities that emerged in its development process. The method used is a literature review, collecting data from relevant scholarly journals, articles, and related literature. The findings show that although Islamic education faced ideological repression due to the mandatory P4 indoctrination and political doctrines, significant opportunities arose, such as the recognition of madrasahs as equal to public schools, compulsory Islamic religious lessons at all education levels, and the establishment of strategic institutions like the Indonesian Ulama Council and Bank Muamalat Indonesia. Major challenges included a centralized education system, restrictions on academic freedom, and cultural homogenization, which hindered the development of progressive Islamic education. In conclusion, Islamic education during the New Order experienced transformations that shaped the direction and identity of Islamic educational institutions in Indonesia. These findings are important for formulating more inclusive and adaptive strategies for the future development of Islamic education.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to test the differences in the application of project- based learning methods assisted by audio-visual media versus exposure methods in science subjects for grade V who have different learning styles at MI Mazroatul Ulum Lamongan. This study used a quasi-quantitative experimental approach with a 2×3 factorial design type. The subjects of the study were grade V (five) students who were divided into experimental and control groups. Data collection used observation, tests, and questionnaires. The data analysis techniques used were Independent Sample T-Test, One-way Anova, dan Two-way Anova. The results of the study showed: a) there were differences in learning outcomes of students taught using the project-based learning method and demonstration method, b) the grade V students had varied learning styles (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic), c) there were differences in learning outcomes on students who had different learning styles. and d) there was no interaction effect of the use of different methods on students’ learning outcomes who had different learning styles. Therefore, further research is very possible to be carried out to explore the things that cause the interactive influence. It is very possible to explore this research by looking for other variables that are assumed to be able to provide an interactive influence.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth and systematic examination of the integration between transformational leadership and adaptive leadership within the institutional context of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) at the elementary level. The study employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method, analyzing relevant scientific literature, including leadership theories, educational policies, and previous research findings. The findings indicate that transformational leadership plays a crucial role in establishing vision, inspiration, and a values-based culture within the IRE institutional framework, while adaptive leadership is necessary for navigating social change, addressing undefined challenges, and fostering institutional flexibility. The integration of the two models produces a strategic and responsive leadership pattern that not only drives innovation but also strengthens organizational resilience in facing the dynamics of modern education. The implication is that this transformational-adaptive leadership model can be a strategic alternative in strengthening the governance of PAI institutions and serve as a reference for the development of policies and training in Islamic educational leadership oriented toward sustainability and institutional quality.
